Longcils Boncza Cake Mascara Black

I am delighted with this nice little retro compact and block of mascara.. It does take a little bit of getting used to and you must not be tempted to use too much water because it will turn into a sludge. It brushes on well as a moist powder and works best if you use 2 coats, so it takes little longer to apply than tube mascaras. I am an older lady so prefer a touch of make-up rather than a dramatic effect, it isnt full of filaments that clog and it is easy to wash off with soap and water. It seems to be hypo-allergic and does not irritate,I can wear it everyday without damage to my eyelashes it I bought black and it is very black, I think you could use it as eyeliner.I bought this because I am very concerned about the amount of plastic make-up tubes that are thrown away every day and sit in landfill sites for hundreds of years. Many tube mascaras contain a tiny amount of the product but an awful lot of plastic and brush. I dread to think of how many I have chucked out over the years and where they are now!!!The mascara block in this compact is replaceable therefore I need never buy another plastic tube again and really fully intend not to.There seems to be quite a lot of mascara in the block so should last a long time which makes it reasonably priced.So as you see I am very happy with my purchase .

Thought from the write up that this would be like the old fashioned cake mascara we used to get. This is useless - makes no impact on lashes whatsoever, even if you load the poorly designed brush, which is far too thick and stiff to apply to lashes without poking your eyeballs. Very disappointed - not cheap for something that does not deliver. Stick to the liquid brush type of mascara - at least you can see some results for your money. Just does not do what it claims to do. Cannot believe it got any ratings. Gave it one star for delivery speed, not for the product. That deserves Nil Point!!

This is great quality mascara! Very strong black and stays on with no smudging or flaking. Smells of coconut oil which I'm sure will be good for my lashes!

I love this block mascara. I use it as eye liner as well with an eyeliner brush.It stays on all day and has survived light rain without running.I bought it to try and cut down on disposable packaging, since it should last much longer than bottle mascara and is meant to be refillable. But pleasantly surprised the mascara itself is so much nicer to use than my regular old one.It has a solid, oily feel but you put a drop of water on and rub it to use it with the brush. It dries quickly once on but isnt flaky like my old mascara. And it smells like chocolate!Thoroughly recommend.

I don't know if it's just me not getting to grips with the brush or what but after wetting the block I have struggled getting much of the mascara onto my admittedly thin eyelashes. I know the brush is full as I can see it but not much is transferring onto my eyelashes. If I go slightly off I have big black smears but still not much on lashes - in fact I can hardly notice it. I watched online videos to help but still not much joy with the brush. I think I will have to buy a smaller brush and failing that, give it all up as a failed trial of a product and go back to liquid mascara. Shame as I was hoping for a better result.

Love these block mascaras, you don’t have to spit on them like the olden days just put your brush under the tap or prepare a small egg cup with water, easy dose It on the mascara, but it is manoeuvred quite easily, the brush is great and I feel I’m in control of it, much better than the wand of today’s mascara, and oh yes I’m 76 so I still appreciate being able to buy these block mascaras

Brush doesn’t absorb mascara!Tried warm water… thinking it might soften mascara, nope! Bought another brush to apply mascara, nope!Tried spitting on mascara, which was what you used to do with the 1970s MAX FACTOR mascara. No different!

I used cake mascara all through the 70's and 80's with amazing results. This mascara is just as good but unfortunately the applicator brush lets it down. The brush length is perfect but the brush head is twice the width of the one's I used to use and has too many bristles. This makes it difficult to apply as you can't see the base of the eye lashes or get close to them and end up with smudges and I can't achieve the long lashes I hoped for.
