How does the belt attach to the chair?

The belt does not attach to the chair. It goes accords the waist of the person and then the straps go through the little opening on each side of the chair around to the back of the chair. The end of the straps them to attach to itself and is adjustable to be as tight or loose as you want it.

Nowhere does Seller say how long the cushioned part is — exclusive of the belt part. What is the cushioned section's length?

This belt is just shy of 20 inches across on the padded part. It fits across the entire mid section of my dad, we use it a lot and it is quite useful. When clipped it has a lot of room for adjustment as well. Unless the person has a very large mid section, it would work very well.

A simple medical restraint strap.

This wheelchair seat belt medical restraint strap is a great option for a person who is in a transport wheelchair. The transport wheelchair that I bought did not have a seat belt and I felt very uncomfortable wheeling my dad around in the chair without being secured. The thought of him just falling out of the chair really made me feel uncomfortable. I think that this strap was a perfect choice for him. He is about 168 lbs and it fit around his chest perfectly and it really holds him up nicely. We use this belt every time he uses the transport wheelchair and its really one less thing that I have to worry about because he is safely buckled in.

Check rules in your local facilities

We bought this as the wheelchair didn’t have a a seat belt. Does work good but not approved by our local long term facility as they they require a seat belt that’s affixed to the wheelchair securely with screws.
