great source of non technical information Full o common sense advice
I found this book highly accessible and informative. Since PD symptoms can vary across individuals. I appreciated the different perspectives offered in the book. I highly recommend this book for someone with PD or someone one who has a loved one with PDManuel de la Puente

excellent, clearly written review of all things Parkinson
I am a physician who cares for patients with another chronic disease. I wrote a book for them and their families, and when I was diagnosed with Parkinson's, I wanted to get my hands on a similar bilk, but for PD patients, something like: Parkinson’s Disease: A Guide for Patient and Family. I was disappointed that my neurologist couldn’t/didn’t point me to anything other than the Michael J Fox Foundation website. It was there that I saw reference to Mr Vine's book. It looked promising, so I got it, and boy was I right!I have found this book it to be everything I was looking for.I commend the author for his lucid writing style, the depth and breadth of his knowledge, his ease with talking (well, writing) to patients in a way that is straightforward and optimistic, without being unrealistic. And, I thank him (thank you! thank you!) for writing this wonderful book.

Useful and intelligently written
The author, an attorney, writes from his own experience and from interviews with other PD patients. Some medical claims are questionable, but the book is sound, encouraging and useful overall.

PD? This is very informative and a must read
I was diagnosed recently with Parkinson's (PD) and of course, devastated. This book answered all of my concerns. With PD I have options and great hope.

Good, easily understood information
When my mom was diagnosed with Parkinson's, this book was recommended by a family member who is a doctor. It is a great read for those who are wanting to learn more about the disease, how it affects those living with it (and their caregivers!), treatments, helpful tips, and more. It is written by someone living with the disease, and includes the experiences of many others who have Parkinson's. It is easy to understand, written for everyone, using very little academic or medical terminology. I highly recommend this book, particularly for those in the beginning stages of learning about Parkinson's disease.

I like the fact that the author is very candid and positive about his disease. I learned a lot from his experiences.

A light at the end of a newly appeared tunnel.
The book is a primer indeed: it gives the medical basics that newly diagnosed Parkinson’s patients and their family and friends need to know, and shows treatment options available to them. The author shares his own experience along with that of about 30 patients. You don’t feel alone with your diagnose, you feel supported.

I found it helpful
I bought the book because I recently learned my farther has PD. My parents live in a different country, and they have kept it a secret. I found the book very easy to read, and it gave me a good well rounded picture of what to expect, how to react to my farther's changing attitude, his reactions and behaviour. The book provides comprehensive information about the support groups and treatment centres. However, my parents live in Germany, and we have to seek such information locally. I am glad I read this book, and am grateful to the author and all people who shared their experience.
