Great value!
Like some others have suggested, I sanded the inside of the pan to make it smoother, then seasoned the pan with oil and placed it upside down in a hot oven for an hour. Suddenly you have a beautiful and would-be-expensive skillet for life.

Cast Iron lasts a lifetime and is a healthy option
Christmas gift for my sister because I have a cast iron lan and she loved the idea.Had a small imperfection (hence 4 stars) but it’s solid cast iron, I’m sure it doesn’t affect the use. My sister is pleased with it.

Get one
First time I've ever used a cast iron frying pan and I absolutely love it. I bought it initially so I could knock up some bacon and eggs on site. However, after using it in the kitchen a few times I'm totally addicted. Once seasoned and cleaned properly this pan is superb with which to cook. Chuck in a bit of oil and throw in a piece of meat and let the heat of the pan sear and caramalise the underside of it. Once cooked it unsticks itself and you can turn it over. Done to a turn. I've cooked prawns, scallops, tuna, eggs, pork chops, bacon and steak and I've only just started. There's no way this pan is leaving my kitchen.

Exelent purchase if you don't mind doing a little bit of work.
Very good pan sturdy and well cast. It says its pre seasoned but I find the best way to treat a new cast iron utensil is to give it good scrub in soapy water dry with a soft cloth and rub a teaspoon of oil all over then bung it in a hot oven for an hour or so.

Great price if you're happy to put in some elbow grease to give it a smooth finish
Received much earlier than anticipated, thanks!I love the pan BUT... it arrived with a very coarse factory finish. Having read some of the other reviews, I was ready for this and was happy to spend well over an hour power sanding it to achieve a smooth finish, before re-coating it by following several cycles of oiling and heating.I am fairly comfortable doing DiY and have had several cast iron pans, so was confident that I would get a good glossy finish for a pan that cost a fraction of the leading brands which was great for me.If you are new to cast iron or haven't got the DIY equipment, confidence or time, I would recommend that you spend a bit more to get a better finished pan.The potential is definitely there if you want to put some elbow grease, as my photo testifies.

Another excellent skillet
I have this and the 10 inch. Sometimes, I need to cook a number of steaks and the 10 inch won't cut it. This bad boy does the job.
