Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2, Matter Over Thread, Requires Thread Border Router, Motion Detector with Light Sensor, for Various Automations, Compatible with Apple Home, Alexa and SmartThings

I would reccomend these but also depends on what you’re using these for, I easily connected them to my aqara hub and haven’t had any issues with them disconnecting from my hub, and the battery life seems to be very long because they’ve been running for months without any issues. I also love the stick on feature it’s just like 3m tape you stick it to the wall easily and it works as intended. I designed it to turn on certain lights when motion is detected in a room, or to record a video when motion is detected in a certain area, making it great for security and they’re very small and look cool on the wall but also barely noticeable, if you have the hub and have other aqara accessories this pairs very well with them and the automations you can create are pretty cool, but if you don’t have the aqara brand products or hub I don’t know how well it works or if it would work at all.

The Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2 (Matter over Thread) has been excellent in day-to-day use. Detection is fast, reliable, and noticeably quicker than older Zigbee sensors I’ve used. Motion triggers feel near-instant, and the built-in light sensor adds that extra layer of automation intelligence. Battery life has been solid so far, and the device itself is compact and discreet — easy to tuck away without it looking like you’ve installed security for a small airport. Matter pairing was straightforward and it integrated nicely into my smart home setup. Once connected, it’s stable and responsive. However — and this is important — Thread isn’t magic Wi-Fi. You absolutely need to respect Thread’s distance and mesh requirements. If you don’t have a proper Thread border router nearby (and enough Thread devices to form a mesh), range can be limited. It’s not going to punch through multiple thick walls just because it says “Matter” on the box. Once placed within a sensible range of a border router, it’s rock solid. But if you’re planning to stick it in a far corner of the house with no Thread infrastructure nearby, expect disappointment. So: - Fast motion detection - Light sensor is genuinely useful - Matter over Thread works well - Placement and mesh planning matter If you already have a decent Thread network, this is a fantastic sensor. Just don’t treat Thread like long-range Wi-Fi and you’ll be very happy. Would absolutely buy more — just strategically.
