Good heavy duty gloves

While I’m not a firefighter, I did want a good heat resistant glove for use tending the campfire and while working around outdoor flames like the crawfish boiler. After singing the hair off the back of my hand a few times and getting some tender burns, I decided it was time to get some gloves to protect my hands from the heat. These gloves fit well and are comfortable, although a bit bulky. The knuckle protection is quite strong, although a bit overkill for my usage. I tested the gloves with a MAPP gas torch with a flame temp of 3700 degrees. I hit the gloves with the flame for a solid 5 seconds and didn’t get any melting or burn damage. I also felt the inside of the glove and while it was slightly warm, it wasn’t hot. For the final test, I put my gloved hand in front of the MAPP flame, which I videoed. I didn’t notice any elevated temperatures inside the glove after a couple seconds in the flame, which would have severely burned a bare hand. While I can’t compare these to a name brand firefighting glove, they are considerably cheaper and are much better than a standard work glove in high heat settings. If you need a glove to protect you from burns, but can’t afford $150 for a name brand firefighting glove, these are worth considering.

My husband has pretty big hands so it is always a toss up whether gloves will fit him. These ones did and he was excited about that. He used them while out at his wood fire BBQ and reported they worked he didn't burn his hands when he was adjusting the racks in it. We didn't see any burn marks on them either so we are both pretty pleased so far.

The back of the fingers have padding and the back of the knuckles have a steel-toe type protection for your first row of knuckles. That padding would allow a fireman to bust through dry wall or other surfaces inside a burning building. Each glove also has a steel D ring to allow you to attach them to your gear with a snap link. The gloves are only secured on the wrists by elastic. This design allows them to be quickly pulled off if necessary. The biggest attraction of these gloves for me is the heat resistance. The gloves fit well and are made of durable materials that insulate the hand from hot surfaces. I'm able to use them with our grill as well as removing food from the oven or stove. I could have done a more extensive heat test with them, but did not want to risk damaging them.

I joked with my husband and asked him if he was going to be 'rescuing me' anytime soon with these gloves. These are resistant to everything and have a hard back on the knuckles and fingers for extra protection. You could really bust through a wall wearing these gloves. The XL fits perfectly and is lined in Kevlar for heat resistance as well. So many features on these gloves-a ring to attach to your gear, a reflective strip, and fingertip text capabilities to name a few. Great for home projects that involve flame or construction.

These gloves were ordered to work around recycling and repurposing items used in my Jewelry Design. Electric motor drives, gears, cogs, springs and wire all require tools ranging from rotches to demolition saws to angle grinders and all produce heat. These gloves have provided comfort, protection and the dexterity to operate the machines and handle the product throughout the recycling process. I'm very pleased with the quality of the materials, the construction of the gloves, the fitment and frankly the appearance.
