Am loving this sound bar. It’s compact in size but gives out great sound. Much better than speaker on 55 inch Samsung tv. It’s in a small area and works well for dialog. Good price. Also there’s a free Roku app to stream on headphones and hearing devices and easy to use. The soundbar was very easy to set up. Am very glad I bought it.

Some years ago I decided to kick my bloated cable bill aside and became an early adopter of Roku. It was basically a USB powered HDMI stick and a remote. It took a bit of hair-tearing and spicy language to get it set up and working, but once dialed-in, it's worked very well. That is, until recently.... Time has marched, stomping especially hard on the remote. It maddeningly works when it wants....blipping happily along for a few minutes, and then - let it go, let it go, it's frozen! Slapping it, swapping batteries, yelling at it all seemed to work, or not, depending on its mood. We got by using the phone remote, but that was just "getting by." There was another issue: the sound coming out of my flat screen was...well...flat. I don't know if the speaker is damaged or my bass-heavy settings were making it sound bad, but bad it sounded. Voices especially. Imagine my joy, then, when I spotted this little guy! A new, more up-to-date Roku streaming device built-in to a new, much-needed speaker! Plus a brand new remote, all for much less than a typical sound bar. I snapped it up ASAP, preparing for a fresh round of breaking a sweat and colorful language. But, BONUS: Roku has progressed a long way since I bought that old stick and, for the most part, setup was a breeze! The Roku sound bar is less "bar," but does have stereo high-end speakers in a nice compact cabinet. And yes, the bass is amazing for a speaker of its size. There is a small port in the back that allows it to move enough air to produce a satisfying deep sound. Crisp, not flat! I blocked out two hours to install it. I had it up and running in 20 minutes. Even connecting to the Roku phone remote app took a fraction of the time than with the first unit. All problems fixed quickly, and the picture is stunning! (Was it always this clear, or is it my cleaning during installation?) I really couldn't be happier. Add a + to the stars above and grab one! Oh, and on a side note, if the stellar small-speaker bass isn't enough for you, there's an optional Bluetooth subwoofer that is available according to details in the package. I'm thinkin' about it...

Bought for my grandmother who has issues hearing via the normal tv speakers. Caught it on sale so it is definitely worth the money! This little speaker has great sound! It’s made great and seriously, you won’t believe the depth and clarity of the sound. She hates change but this speaker is also the same format (smart device) as her old Roku device. But this enables her to hear and understand what’s being said and follow programs she watches more clearly. But be sure to read everything before purchasing. I bought a set of Onn/Roku speakers to pair with this thinking they would all be part of the same roku ecosystem. But when using this device, the streambar se, these speakers aren’t compatible. So again, great product but please read any info before purchasing other products to use with. Great stand alone speaker for a small to midsize living room and great for bedrooms or if you have limited space.

We had a need to upgrade the streaming device we use in our home gym, but was also looking to have the option of a better speaker. We are a huge Apple household and wanted the ability to potentially AirPlay music to whatever speaker we selected as well. This Roku Streambar SE solved getting a new streaming device and the audio setup we wanted. Setup of this Streambar was crazy easy. All the needed cables, both an HDMI and optical cable are in the box. What’s nice is you don’t have to really use the optical cable if all you’re going to use on the TV is the Roku. After getting everything plugged in, setup and software update went smoothly as expected with any other Roku device we have purchased. The size of this device is pretty small for a soundbar, but the sound is actually really good. I’ve never had it above 25 out of a 100 and it’s almost too loud. As expected, the louder you get it, it can have some sound issues, but for general use, it works great. I’ve got this setup in Apple HomeKit, which is great for two reasons. First, you can control it through the Apple Home app. Second, it becomes an AirPlay target. You can not only cast video to it, but music as well, which works great. I changed the setting for Fast TV Start, so while it appears off, it can turn on once you start casting music to it. This works super well for quickly sending music to it and then it turns the TV on as well. From a build quality, the soundbar is a solid piece of tech. The remote is the cheap one they traditionally pack with their devices. It’s IR only, does not really control your TV unless your TV allows control through the HDMI, which most do now. I opted to upgrade to their Pro controller, which is also backlit. Wish it shipped with that. Otherwise the performance of the device is great. Easily connected to our WiFi and TV. It has all the apps you will need available in their store. Navigation is pretty quick, but it is a little slow when launching apps, but that’s not a deal breaker. Overall I like this device a lot and it’s great for smaller rooms, home gyms, or potentially a home office. Only things that would make it better are a better remote control (that you can upgrade for additional money) and a faster UI.

Excellent device, works seamlessly, provides great sound and video quality. Easy to setup and use.

This sound bar solved a big problem for me. I got an Epson projector for my kids, which was great quality and reasonably priced, but speaker was incredibly awful and it only had one HDMI input and no sound inputs. The Roku sound bar was the only thing I found that fixed the sound issue and allowed using all the streaming services with just a single HDMI port available on my projector. I'm not an audiophile so I can't comment on the sound quality, but it's exponentially better than the projector speaker. The Roku services, as usual, are great. It's also nice and small. Unfortunately it seems Roku has discontinued its sound bars, which is unfortunate given their good reviews. If you can pick one up to fix your projector sound problems it's worth it.

This is a US device and comes with a US plug attached - it comes with an adaptor so you can plug it in in the UK and we managed to get it up and running, but BBCiplayer wouldn't work. After a lot of fiddling about and then some searching I eventually discovered that it's not on the BBC's list of approved devices, so there is no way to get BBCiplayer to work on this device. We've sent it back, because it's no use to us if we can't access BBC content.

Bought the Roku Streambar SE to enhance the sound on content played through streaming - especially Music (Spotify & Apple Music) - fulfils that goal. However the device was shipped with a US plug (I think it was US, Might be Europe) - suffice to say it doesn't wok in the UK without an adapter.... hence the 2 star rating
