Dog hair and grit
A month in and I will never go back to our other life. I have 2 Labrador retrievers and live in the woods (no lawn). We have a new home build, so there is still sand everywhere that the dogs, and us, are endlessly tracking inside. Our living space is about 1,000 sq ft with cement floors and wool and natural fiber area rugs. I have a very high standard of cleanliness which I am always balancing with my love for my dogs. Previous life: I was running an older robot vacuum daily, my husband was using the cordless vacuum daily to clean sand and dog hair and I was also vacuuming rugs and hand mopping the floors as necessary. (Probably not often enough) Research: I did a lot research before choosing this model. Pet hair. We have so much… every where. We also still building our house and there is sand and grit and sawdust… every where. I watched endless videos and read reviews on vacuum wars, wire cutter, consumer reports, etc. Originally, I was prepared to spend between $700-$1,200. Why this model?: I narrowed in on Dreame because or the reviews on the effectiveness of pet hair pickup and I did not find any complaints on pet hair not being cleared from the vacuum when it self empties, which was a chronic problem with my older unit. The app functionality had really good reviews, but the thing that really sold me is that it takes photos of your pets. This is only slightly silly, but is seriously what sold me. It tells me that this company knows that a good vacuum and pets are a package deal. I was looking at the L50 but when I started comparing the 40 to the 50, I didn’t see that the newer upgrade had additional features that met my priorities. I decided to spend half as much and went with the L40. What I love: my floors look and feel so clean. I can now walk barefoot across my floors and don’t feel sand. We don’t vacuum daily and I haven’t pulled out my mop since we started using this unit. This is an extra 15 minutes that I get in my life every day. This is now 15 minutes a day that we spend doing yoga because the floors are clean and we can just lay on them without having to vacuum. The maintenance on this unit is easy. In our smaller house (vacuuming and mopping about 740 sq ft daily), I have been adding water and emptying the waster water about every 4-5 days. The unit came with a small bottle of cleaner that filled about half of the reservoir and there is still about 1/2 of that left. The dust collection bag, even with all the dog hair, has not needed to be changed yet. I’ve rinsed out the base (mop head cleaning area) twice. This equates to 5-10 minutes of my time a week for floors that are dramatically cleaner than when we were vacuuming and mopping ourselves. Functionality: The LiDAR mapping is amazing. I’ve run two maps and each one took about 5 minutes. The mapping is very accurate. I did take the time to go through the maps and add furniture and no-go areas, which takes a little time. The object avoidance, so far, has been outstanding. Things are always moving around (dog toys, shoes, chairs, etc.) and I have not had any issues with the unit “getting aggressive” with new obstacles like dog toys or chair bases. It looked like it was going to get hung up on a chair bases once but we gave it a minute and it figured out how to get itself off. The programming for this company seems really good. Very “smart”. It mostly takes care of itself and is very hands-off. It does its job very well and does not need much from me, which is exactly what I wanted. The unit seems to get fully cleared when it empties at the base. This was my biggest issue with my old unit. With so much dog hair, the old unit would over fill and not be able to clear itself out. I would have to either empty it manually or run it more often just to make sure it didn’t pick up more pet hair than it could manage. Other observations/ comments: Yes, it does make noise. It is a vacuum. When it goes from a hard floor surface to a rug the suction increases and the unit makes more noise. It’s still substantially more quiet than a regular vacuum, but it is not so quiet that I would have it cleaning in a room where I’m trying to have a conversation or watch a movie. The object identification is good but not perfect. However, I can tell that it is learning. During the first few runs it identified a shaggy pet toy lost under the bed as a pet. It also identified a loose strand on a rug as pet feces. Over the past few weeks, it has gotten better at identifying the objects in my house and I haven’t gotten any incorrect notifications. It did get lost once behind the couch. I currently have it programmed to vacuum and mop on the same runs. However, I’ve noticed that the mop pads or base of the unit are carrying some pet hair onto the rugs and leaving a swipe of fur where it enters the rug. I will reprogram it to run separate vacuum and mopping sessions, which should fix this issue. (Again, we have a lot of pet hair in our house) I was sold on this unit for the pet recognition feature and the go-find-my-pets-and-take-their-photo-when-I’m-not-home function. It was a novelty that I was excited about. A month in and I’ve used it twice. Now, it is just so novel and wonderful having clean and beautiful floors. I love it.

Great for very large areas with mixed flooring
I bought this when it was deeply discounted on sale (475), and then considered buying a second one when it had gone up slightly in price. I had previously considered buying a combo wet/dry vac (not robotic but manual), but had decided to buy a wet vac instead because I was skeptical about the ability of a vacuum to do both. I will say that this is an amazingly smart vacuum, and I wish that I had bought two. It's especially good if you have a large area to clean with mixed flooring. The vacuum is able to suck up its mops or to leave its mops on the dock while vacuuming, thus eliminating issues with doing both. The suction power is really amazing, and left my thick-but-short rug looking and feeling completely different; when I manually vacuum over that rug with a cordless Dyson, I have to go over it with many passes. I have two other robot vacuums from different eras of the technological improvements. My 2016 Shark is on its last legs, and I wish that I'd gotten two to replace that one as well. My 2024 Roomba is really great on carpets, but it runs out of battery and doesn't always dock before coming back to clean. This one is really smart about docking to clean the mops and/or repower before finishing its job. That makes it much easier to use than the Roomba. The mopping looks and feels extremely clean as well. I will also say that I think, in my opinion, that this does a better job of cleaning than I generally do, because I dislike mopping. At first, I ran this at night. It's really quiet except that it announces what it's about to do. I tried turning off notifications on the app, but it doesn't seem to have changed that, so now I run it during the day. I do try my best to put up chairs etc before running it. I do find that it notes where I have wires, so it's easy to note where to put things up for a better run the next time. I did have some issues with connecting it to wifi when first setting it up. It's also advisable to run the robot a few times to let it learn your floor mapping. I haven't yet figured out all of the possibilities with shortcuts on the map. One con is if you feel uneasy about a Chinese company having access to some of the data about your home, but I don't see this as any more informative than Googlemaps. I find the main issue with robot vacs to be maintenance. Theoretically, I can see that this vac is much more hands off than the others, which I empty out (and cut hair off the rollers) each time I use it. I've looked at the vac and it seems not to have hair tangled. I do clean out the dirty water tank each time I use it, regardless of whether it's full. The deep cleaning function is pretty neat -- it fills with hot water, allows you to scrub, and then it empties out. I will say that replacement bags/mops are an added expense while considering a robot vacuum but I consider it worth the price to have my floors cleaned each day. I will come back to this review if I find any issues with it, but right now, I am so obsessed with this machine, and tracking its progress on the app. It makes my floors feel amazing and I love coming home to a really clean house. I hope that it goes on sale again so that I can replace the Shark. Cons: 1. It is sensitive and will sometimes mistake an extreme shadow for pet feces. There is a function to try to give feedback and improve the discernment of the robot. 2. It gets tripped up on an under-table rug that is not completely flat. 3. In a floor of 1300 sf, it will need to go back to dock/recharge before finishing. 4. I find this model harder to move between floors than one that doesn't have a mop combo. For this floor with a lot of hard surfaces, I really like this model.

I regret waiting so long!! Does an excellent job!
I finally decided to buy this lifesaver when it was 50% off a couple months ago. I can't believe I waited so long. It arrived in 2 days. The set up was very easy and even connected to my Alexa. The phone app is very easy to use. I have all hardwood and tile floors in my home with one runner in a hallway. This robot does a great job vacuuming and mopping. It has routine and deep cleaning modes. You can also chose the whole house or specific rooms or areas. If you put in on the clean genius setting it detects if it needs to be redone and will remop those areas again. The obstacles avoidance is excellent and not once has the robot banged into anything. It also has a camera so you can see in real-time where it's going. You can send it out to cruise around and check on pets etc. Another great thing is it goes under most of my furniture so no more trying to get every inch under my beds. The camera is great if you drop something under furniture because this little suckered will find it. It also tells you how much life is left in mop heads, roller, etc. I like that it self cleans the mop heads and dries them. The only thing I have had to check myself is the vacuum bag as the app doesn't tell you when it is full. I haven't even filled my first bag yet. I recommend starting with a clean house and then run this to maintain it. There will still be a few places you need to manually clean that the robot can't get to and behind doors. I also want to point out how the detergent is used because there is a lot of confusion online and in the forums. The cleaning solution does not get automatically mixed with the clean water that goes inside into the robot as with most models and other brands. It automatically dispenses the cleaning solution to the base to wash the mop pads. You can follow the directions on the bottle and add in the amount they suggest which is like a cupful, I won't put anything in my robot as I have found it doesn't need it. It washes the pads before it mops so there is cleaning solution already on the mop heads and the robot dispenses water as needed. It will go rehash the mop heads multiple times during mopping depending on how you set it up in the app. This robot cleans my floors better than any mop or steamer I have owned. My family is always running around in their socks and they stay white! If you are on the fence just buy it, the time it has saved me is immeasurable. I also purchased the insurance so I have 2yrs on top of the 12 to 18 month manufacturer warranty. My only regret is that I waited to long and now it's $100 less than when I purchased. You won't get a better deal. Update!! I have had this robovac for 9 months now and it has surpassed my expectations. I was looking to buy another one for my second floor only for convenience since this model does allow you to map multiple floors. The only thing with multiple floors is you have to physically carry it up or down from the main floor where you have the base. I was thinking of upgrading to a different model for my next purchase. I can't find another Dreame model that has all the same features for anywhere near this price. So looks like I will purchase this model again. Don't be fooled by the suction power. If you have hardwood, tile etc floors this is more than enough suction power. It works very well with the few area rugs I do have. If you have very thick deep pile carpet you may want something stronger but for the flooring I mentioned above it is a waste of money as this model is very powerful for hardwood, tile and area rugs. I also recommend researching the accessories if you are not going to buy from Dreame especially the bags. I bought a different brand and the bags were not HEPA bags and there was dirt and dust immediately in the bag compartment. The non Dreame mop heads were OK but you have to adjust wetness level as they left my floors soaking wet. If you are on the fence I would definitely jump on this model for the price. It doesn't list it in the specs but this model does have a camera so that you can send it out to monitor your home, kids & pets. You can also video and take pictures.

Wish I bought this sooner!!
Do you have cats (or dogs) but hate finding clumps of their hair on the floor? Do you hate crumbs being on the floor but also hate sweeping them up? If so, look no further than this handy robo vac, which has helped restore sanity and order to my home filled with multiple furry gremlins and one slightly messy husband. Setup is easy and this vacuum works great on both LVP flooring (which makes up most of my house) and thick carpet. The app allows you to set spaces as vacuum-only, which is great for protecting carpet or area rugs. My favorite feature is how hands off this thing is. I don’t have to empty the vacuum or refill the water reservoir daily, and it will tell you if the water is too dirty to be reused (great feature!). In addition, while it’s not whisper-quiet (it is a vacuum, after all), it’s not loud by any means. It won’t interfere with Zoom calls during the day or binge watching at night. Our cats are still getting used to it, but that’s to be expected. Overall, highly recommended and worth the price. I only wish I’d opted for a robot vacuum sooner.

Best Robot Vacuume I have Owned
I started buying robot vacuums back when Romba S9 was the best of the best. While I loved my S9 for raw power it lacked in many other areas I had to move on. Since then, I have had mostly Roborock vacuums. I have owned the S6, S7, and S8 and while I stayed with them mostly for the dual rollers, it seems like overnight robot vacuum evolved, and now they were moping and raising mopping pads with a camera to locate pets and all kinds of bells and whistles side mopping and on and on. I tried the Dreame X30 and while it was a great vacuum it did not seem to have the same raw power as the Roborock Q Master. The Roborock Q Master sucks at object avoidance. No matter what I did or what settings I selected it would not avoid anything. I know no robot vacuum is perfect but the Q Master is listed as being smart and has a camera in theory should help it avoid cords and socks and dogs, but it does not. I picked up the L40 Dreame on sale and have been in love since. It has the raw power like the Q Master but is way smarter. I was so tired of looking around before I ran my vacuum I would clean to clean. The L40 is so much better not only does it run like a dream but I have not had it once get stuck or get something stuck in its roller. It vacuumed under my couch and then in the app at got a notification that I might have a missing item under there, it even took a picture of it so I could decide if it was worth going after. And for the 1st time besides my Romba S9, the vacuum will come back when it is full and empty itself and keep going. I have a Beagle and she shads like crazy if I skip a day of vacuuming other vacuums would get full but keep vacuuming even though they were no longer picking anything up. The mopping is also top notch and not only does it push one mop pad out to the side but it will also wiggle to get even closer. After mopping it will clean and let you know if the water was dirty enough to mop again and then go do it. The only problem is it only does this with genius clean not customized. Also, the side brush no longer spins on the carpet by default. You have to do some trickery to get it to spin on the carpet. Which is stupid to me, I looked around and they saw this is because it's not really needed on carpet and keeps the motor from burning out. I do not agree. I would give it 5 stars but Amazon delivered it to me damaged, and will not replace the item they just want me to return it for a refund. The problem I got it on sale close to Prime Day and it is no longer on sale. So, if I returned it, I would have to pay more to buy it again. If it was a small amount like 25 bucks, I could see that, but it’s like 350. The policy does say I can get an item replaced within 30 days but they are not budging. Everything works besides the cleaning solution injection. So, if you are thinking about buying it, I would say pull the trigger. If you can buy it from someone other Than Amazon that’s even better. Since they will punish you if you happen to find a deal on their site. Update**** While I could not get Amazon to do the right thing and replace the item without me returning it. Dreame support has stepped in and has been nothing but pleasant to work with. I wanna be clear the 5 stars are for Dreame and the L40. Their customer support and their vacuum have been a dream to work with it. I can not recommend them enough. If you are on the fence about buying a robot vacuum from Dreame, I would say pull the trigger. The vacuum is top-of-the-line filled with the best tech. Customer support has been fast to reply and very easy to work with. Until the X50 comes out I am staying with the L40. *********Update********* Still one of the best robot vacumes you can buy hands down and I would buy it again if the X50 was not out :) (I would love to review the X50 Dreame if you are listing) and it seems to be improving itself like it is learning, hear me out. I have two small dogs one that is afraid of its own shadow and another one who could care less about the vacuum. When I 1st got it I was cautious around both both dogs taking what seems like 1000 of pictures of them, even if they were not in the frame all the way. It would slow down if they walked in front of it, it would give them both a wide birth as if it was unsure as to how the dogs would react. Fast forward to today and I no longer get out of 100 pics of them in the app. The vacuum knows that it can get right up next to my dog who does not care and clean around her. But it knows to slow down when the other dog is laying in the middle of the floor because it knows he will get scared and move at the last minute. I swear iuts almost like it is learning and thinking.

Hopefully, this one will last long!
This is the most affordable one in the market with spinning mop pads that also self-cleans/washes. Definitely a game changer. Works as it's advertised. App is easy to use. It mapped my whole house under 20 mins. (compared to my iRobot i5 that mapped my house for 2 and a half hours when it was new). I have 2 cons. 1 - It doesn't go underneath my dining table. Even if I pull out the chairs to have enough space to go through, it still doesn't go underneath. I think it doesn't go underneath furniture that has a lot of legs because it detects too many "obstacles" I guess. It doesn't even force itself to go through. Same with my barstools. It can't go over bases. 2 - Suction is great but it blows of a lot of air on the sides, it blows off very light hair/fur away. Otherwise, still a nice upgrade compared to my iRobot i5 (which decided to perform dumb after 1 year even with rebooting and everything). Impressed so far, except the cons I mentioned.

By far the best robot vacuum we've ever had.
It took a while to dial in the settings on the app and I'm still making small adjustments. It does go through water a lot faster then expected. I have to refill the fresh water about every other day. Thats really my only slight negative. Everything else about this is amazing. To those who have problems with it going in circles when it gets on carpet, I had the same problem. Once I set up a carpet zone in the app then it behaved. I think it got confused since originally I had set up my the app as having laminate throughout the house. I assumed that it would automatically know the difference but after I set up the carpet zones in the app and gave it instructions it worked perfect. Our laminate floors have never been cleaner. The mop function is probably the best thing about this and that's saying something. My wife was skeptical but she says this actually does as good a job as hand mopping. I'm not exaggerating. It doesn't even leave streaks. Our dogs have free run of the house and with a doggy door they're in and out all day tracking in dirt. I have the smart clean feature turned on and it mops every night, sometimes twice. The object avoidance so far has been nearly perfect. It did try to suck up a black charging cable but it was on dark colored carpet so I'm not surprised it didn't recognize it. Our carpet rug has high pile so the mop heads did slightly touch it but that's an easy fix by just having the robot vacuum first while leaving the mop heads at the base then mopping after. We have 2 other entry rugs with shag carpet that this really dosnt like. The side brush got twisted up in it last night and I thought it had destroyed it but I was able to untangle it without problems. I love this mop. I spent a week researching before purchasing. I watched several videos on YouTube and narrowed down the features that I wanted before making my decision. I found this when it was on sell for under $500. I don't believe you need to spend a lot of money (over $1000) to get a good vacuum any more. This is our 3rd robot vacuum and I'm excited to see how for the technologies come in just a few short years. If you wait until these high end flagship vacuums have been out for while, you can pick them up at a steal. This was cheaper then the shark mop vac we bought from Costco a few years ago and the upgrade in technology is mind blowing. We also have had fun with the find the pet function on this. When we were at a family party the other night, I turned on the front facing camera on the app, then set it to free roam around the house searching for our pet until it located them. My Mom and Sister were blown away. I did purchase separately, the 3 year warranty. I figure if it goes out after 3 years then the technology will be to the point where I'm ready to upgrade anyway. Very happy so far and I feel like I made the right choise. Update: this morning the vacuum was stuck on the shag rug placed by one of the exterior doors. It had a completely dead battery. I had to pick it up and manually put it back on the charger. A few hours later I looked in the app and my vacuum had sent me a message. It read, "the Dreame mop vacuum has gotten stuck on this carpet several times, may I recommend that we turn it into a no-go zone?" It had the settings button under neath the text so I clicked it and it had already mapped out a no-go zone around that rug that I just needed to agree to. Wow.

Comparing this to Previous Roborock vac
I've been using the Dreame L40 ultra for almost a month now and I wanted to leave a review on what I've seen especially compared to other robot vacuums. For reference, I'm coming from two roborock vacuums and a very old iRobot vacuum. I won't compare this with the iRobot but will compare to the roborock vacuum. The area that this vacuum takes care of is around 950sqft. Multiple rooms but open floor plan with no small doorways or possible closed doors or difficult transitions to go through. The flooring is Hardwood and some of the rooms have rugs down. There is a mixture of furniture (sofa's, chairs, tables, dining table, dining chairs etc.) The vacuum only deals with one floor, I use an older Roborock to vacuum upstairs. We keep our house tidy, no cords, toys, dog toys etc laying around for the vacuum to get stuck on. We have an 80lbs yellow lab that seems to shed a full coat weekly. We also have an 8 year old but his playroom is a no go zone for the vacuum so we don't worry about moving around or it sucking up his favorite legos. The reason for upgrading to this unit is I wanted a unit that could mop but detach the mop pads if vacuum only was selected. We vacuum/mop friday and monday at 9am and every other day the unit vacuums at 9am. So 5 vacuum only cycles and 2 vacuum/mop cycles. The good: The unit can leave the mop pads and go and vacuum only on days it's supposed to, so I don't have to worry about dragging dirty mop pads across rugs, etc. The ability to clean and dry mop pads. This seems to be really nice, it does a very good job of cleaning and drying the mop pads after the unit has mopped. That's kind of it for the good honestly. The OK: What the unit vacuums it does tend to suck up. The mop feature seems like does a pretty good job, streaking is kept to a minimum, we do use the Dreame brand cleaner so that might help. The bad: Time: The unit takes forever to vacuum. It's actually quite shocking how long it takes in vacuum mode. Our previous Roborock would vacuum the same area in 65-70 minutes. The Dreame has never gotten it done faster than 150 minutes but most times it takes about 180 minutes so almost 3 times longer. Cleaning: The issue with being longer wouldn't be so bad if it actually did a better job but it doesn't. It's worse by a considerable margin honestly. Our 1/4 round is stained the same color as our floors and apparently this might be causing a lot of problems cause the unit won't go near the walls, honestly it gives a wide berth to just about everything. Where the roborock would get right up next to it and allow the brush to sweep things away, this unit won't get within 10 inches of the wall leaving lots of debris/hair in it's wake. No idea why it's doing this, i've tried every setting and function I can find and nothing fixes it. Navigation: The navigation isn't good, we have area rugs that have designs and different patterns color changes, the Dreame can't seem to understand them. We had this issue originally on our first roborock 8 years ago but they fixed it pretty quickly. Unfortunately on the Dreame it's an issue. So on a rug there might be a different color splotch or whatever and the vacuum thinks it's an issue and goes around it. it can't ever seem to determine these aren't obstacles and to just vacuum over them. From what I can tell the unit relies too much on its camera and not enough on its lidar. It's fairly frustrating watching it try and navigate around something where there is nothing in the way. I've also noticed this happen on our hardwood floors, it will map around a knot in the wood like it's an obstacle. This unit also gets stuck fairly often. My previous vac probably got stuck a total of 3-5 times during its 1,000 runs. I've had more stuck issues on the Dreame and had to add more no go zones than my previous robot had to keep this from happening. Pet Detection: Lets just say if this is something you want, don't buy it for this feature. It can't tell the difference between my coffee table and my dog that doesn't move when it tries to vacuum around her. I didn't get it for this and honestly don't care it's just hilariously bad. I've never gotten a pet image from the 25 images i've gotten telling me it took a picture of my dog that actually had my dog in the photo. Overall: I bought this unit when it was on deep discount and honestly I would say it was overpriced even at that price. It's not nearly as good at doing the basic things I need it to do, VACUUM. In the month I've had it I've felt the need to pull out the stick vac way, way more for spot cleaning than I had to with my previous vacuum. We used to have people come to our house and were surprised we had a dog cause there was no hair around. With this new unit I'm finding hair everywhere, corners, along the wall, under chairs, it just can't do these things as well. I will probably end up moving this unit up to the bonus room at some point and getting a different vacuum for the main floor in my house. I can't have the most used area being serviced by the worst vacuum. That just doesn't make sense. It's sad cause I really wanted to like this vacuum.

Maravillosa

Pets vs floors - this robot wins!!!
I highly recommend this robot vacuum/mop if you’re looking for something reliable, customizable and low-effort for everyday cleaning. Setup was quick and straightforward, and the design is sleek! The robot and base are a bit larger than I expected, but I really don’t mind and actually appreciate the size when changing the water. We have a mix of tile, hardwood, and rugs, and it handles all surfaces well. The clean and dirty water tanks are clearly identifiable (the dirty tank is darker), and both are easy to refill/empty. In a home with multiple cats and dogs, it’s made a noticeable difference in keeping my floors consistently clean. The Dreame app is one of the standout features!!! It gives you a lot of control and you can customize cleaning settings, like having it vacuum rugs twice or adjusting how often it washes its mop pads during a cycle. Scheduling is especially useful for me; I have it set to run at different times on weekdays versus weekends, which keeps everything maintained without thinking about it while allowing you to have it work around your schedule. Once it maps your home, you can divide rooms, set flooring types, and mark rugs/furniture. The app even suggested rug placements, which I thought was nice. I wasn’t sure what cleaning solution to add with the clean water at first, but I’ve been using the Dreame cleaner from Amazon and it’s worked well on all our floor types. It came with 2 fair sized sealed vacuum bags for the dirt; I haven’t had to change it yet but it seems like it would be easy. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it needing vacuum bags but actually glad it does since it eliminates a mess when emptying it and keeps all dirt, smells & allergens contained. It seems like there are many budget friendly options available for the replacement bags on Amazon. Overall, this is a great option for busy households, homes with pets and/or kids, or anyone who wants cleaner floors with less hands-on effort. Just keep in mind that the water tanks still need regular emptying and refilling. I was hesitant to spend the $$$ but SO glad I did. No regrets!

Excelente Produto
Excelente produto. Não sei ainda sobre a assistência técnica, mas o funcionamento é ótimo. A limpeza é muito boa. Acabou poeira e manchinhas no chão.
