The hype around it is real
I hate using a driver and I get inconsistent results. Today this was delivered and i took it to the range. Hitting consistently and effortlessly with it had results of 170 upwards to a best of 226. Club is lightweight yet strong and held its own against a much higher rated driving iron. Macgregor pulled it out the bag with this one. So much so Iโm tempted to trade in my Wilsonโs and look at more Macgregors If you want to lower that handicap and hit consistent to the fairway at the loss of a few yards on a driver then Iโd go for this. So glad I took the plunge! At ยฃ64.99 it was a steal!

Great but breaks.
Umm so this is an awesome club, brilliant off the deck or tee, BUT, played today, hit a clean shot off the tee and the head and shaft separated, one into a tree, the ball still went 180 yards. But now I have a broken club after 5 months? Not sure what to do or say, when it worked it worked well, but to break like this is not great ๐ I can play golf, this has never been smashed into the ground or anything. @macgregor what say you?

Rubbish
Awful product. At first I loved it and it felt so pure to hit but I topped it once and the head snapped off. Do not recommend if you are not absolutely certain you can hit it perfect every time.

Amazing performance at a fantastic price.
I bought this having seen some YouTube reviews. I wasn't disappointed. Great distance and control which inspires confidence. Have started using it on tight fairways where it's important to get an accurate drive. McGregor are certainly into a winner here.

Poor quality
The club head sheered straight off after about 10 hits

How was it?
Generally appearance good but Matt finish of shaft slightly off putting. It does the job itโs designed for but like all clubs. Only as good as the person swinging it.

To set up the context I am a 6 hcp, always use my 2 iron (old Mizuno mp-29) off the tee, high swing speed, long. I acquired this club to use off the tee as an easier alternative. First impression, the club looks exactly as is advertised here. Grip is nice and aspect with black finish is good. Notes on first and subsequent uses: - The club is very light in the hands compared to my stock 2/3 iron, not easy at first to feel the head of the club and what it's doing in the hands. - The shaft is long and the regular flex seemed more like a senior flex to me. - The stiffness of the shaft was not ideal for my high swing speed used to stiffer shafts (I expected this), had to hit quite a few to adapt to this. This is not necessarily bad, since it is in part what I was looking for, to be able to swing "easier" but obtain same results. But the initial use with same swing speed was quite off from what I expected, and adaptation process was slower than I though it would be comparing to previous occasion where I've done similar changes. - It has very good forgiveness, in the above mentioned process I hit all over the face of the club and the ball always flew quite reasonably nevertheless, of course there from a lot to some loss of distance with the bad hits but no great side spins or diving shots. - When I did hit the ball perfectly the feeling wasn't always the same, had a nice thud on some and a thinner thud on others, this "thinner thud" I didn't appreciate (like) as much, the ball flight was quite similar in both cases with distance varying slightly (shorter on the thinner thud). - Ball flight was similar in height to my 2 iron. - Average distance was similar to my 2 iron, with the best hits being 10-15 yards longer. - After quite a lot of range work and 3 rounds, and even though I have a head cover for the club there were thin, but very visible scratch marks on the face and the toe of the club. The black finish makes these stand out all the more. - I still haven't mastered the club, so must keep that in mind, but mastering process is taking longer than it usually does for me.

Somewhere between a 2 and a 3 iron, this baby has taken over my tee shots. I'll match my friend with his driver and it's more accurate than my own driver. Very happy with this.
