I am disappointed in this book which is undoubtedly comprehensive, but it isn’t something an 8 or 9 year old (the recipients of the ant farm) will be able to read and apply on their own.That just means a frazzled parent (already overwhelmed during this pandemic) will have even more put on his/her plate to set this up, when I was trying to provide a gift that would give her a break while also serving to educate, entertain, and occupy my grandchildren!!I think once the parent sets up the ant farm, it will go smoothly!!! As I said the book appears to be very comprehensive, thus my 5 stars.It would be nice if a colorful pamphlet accompanied the book, something that follows along with the book but written in simpler language, for the child to read.

This is great and informative book when learning about ants/art farms.

This is a good book to get if you are interested in the basics of keeping ants for pets. It explains how one goes about attaining a queen ant to start a colony as well as the basic care and maintenance that will be required. Short read.

I am practically new to ant keeping but I would like to think that I have watched every YouTube ant keeping videos and every website on the topic beforehand. I bought this book thinking I have learned everything there is to learn on the hobby but I'm happily surprised that this book still covered some gaps significantly. My only complaint is that it is mostly directed to audiences in temperate countries but this just very minor since tropical ant keeping is almost similar except the hibernating phase. Great guide all in all especially the structure of the read. Thanks

This is a great book for someone trying to gain a basic understanding of ant keeping. If you’re new to ant keeping and don’t know much about it you should get this book. But if you want to save money, I learned pretty much everything in this book on the YouTube channel antscanada which is actually referenced in this book. Having already been an avid follower of ants Canada I feel like I didn’t learn anything new about ant keeping from this book personally.

My son had developed an interest in ant keeping so I ordered this book for him. It is well written and easy to understand for 12 year old. He is excited to get his colony started.

Not much more than you can already find with a simple google search.

This is a fantastic book on Ants and has a wealth of information on ants, the types, how to feed them, what best to feed them and loads and loads of interesting information on keeping ants. I loved it and couldn't put it down until I finished it all and then read it over again, so now I have 2 small colonies of ant.if your interested in ants and want to keep them, then this book is for you and I totally recommend you buy this book.

Contains all the information listed and helpful for anyone trying to start up.
