Totally worth it!!
Initially, I was hesitant about trying this Forstner bit that was a bit more money, but I have burned up a lot of cheap forstner bits so I gave it a try. Since I've tried it, I am amazed by its performance. I've used this bit with both a hand drill and a drill press. The drill press consistently gave me better results, and the cleanest holes. I had a project that required a lot of holes and I didn't have to stop and clear the chips once, it really does work like they advertise. This bit just keeps taking everything I throw at it with no sign at all of dulling. my only disappointment, I only bought the size i needed, I wish I had bought the set, it's definitely going to be on my christmas list.Bottom Line: Yes I would absolutely recommend to a friend, in fact I've showed a few people already!

These BORA Tempest Forstner bits are AWESOME!!
I have used many different forstner bits over the years doing my woodworking and many of them I consider one and done. Meaning that they are only good for a few holes, and they dull out. I was working on an OAK project when I tried the Tempest bits, and they were solid. I probably drilled over 200 holes in hard oak and they withstood the test with flying colors. Not only did they not dull out but there was no burning and they produced nice clean shavings rather than sawdust. Not only do I recommend these new bits, but I ALREADY HAVE!!! Try them, you will LOVE them!!

Drilled a nice crisp whole in a 2x4 including a knot with no hesitation on my drillpress
I was pleased with the outcome of my initial testing. The hole that it drilled into a 2x4 clamped to my drill press table was nice and clean on both the edges and most of the bottom. It definitely seems like it should do a good job drilling large holes.Personally I would be very hesitant to use a drill bit this large with a hand-held drill of any kind. It's just too big of a bit and if it grabbed the wood there would be no stopping the mayhem!I'm giving this 4 stars because while it is cutting very nice holes right now, I haven't used it long enough to know how sharp it will stay over time.

Fast, clean cuts without any tearout
I have a full set of Forstner bits from 1/4" to 2-1/8" but due to a roof leak a few years ago, many of them got wet and a bit rusty. The 2" size is one that I commonly need, and it's a common size of gauges for boats. I'm now also at that point in restoring an old wooden boat, so a fresh, clean-cutting 2" bit was on my list of tools that I needed.First, I'll just go ahead and say that I love this bit. My photos show both sides of a very clean cut through a pine 1-by, with no tearout on either face of the board. This is just what I need. I'd happily recommend this bit to any woodworker looking for this kind of performance, and I've tried bits that certainly did not perform like this one.In addition, the bit I received was clearly in a pre-opened package, and the bit still had some fine sawdust on it. Shame on Amazon for sending that out as a new, unused unit. Nonetheless, maybe whoever had it before me just cut their holes and sent it back for a refund. I couldn't tell that it had been used at all, based on how well it worked for me, so that's a tiny testament to its durability and longevity.Happy to have this, and I'm happy to recommend it.

cuts amazingly
Great little bit. I got the 1 inch bit to drill a couple 1 inch holes and its spot on for size. Make sure to sue the right speed on the box. in this case the 1 inch needs 1k rpm for hardwood, and worked fine there in softwood too but can go faster at 1900 rpm.I will probably get the other sizes as needed due to how cleanly these went in and out, I did end up sanding the holes for a nice round soft touch, but if i wanted a crisp edge it looked great. I am indexing dowels in and out though, so the edge breaking was needed for indexing.

Drills holes and don't have to clear the bit
This bit makes it so much easier to drill holes - especially if you have to drill alot because of the design you do not have to stop to clear the bit. Recommend!

An excellent Forstner bit
I was looking for a 3/4" Forstner bit to drill dog holes into my new woodworking bench and wanted something that would make a clean hole. I also wanted something that would last a long time and decided on the #Bora Tempest Forstner bit. This bit costs a bit more than the average bits out in the big box stores but after drilling a few dozen holes in 3" yellow pine I believe this bit to be an excellent value. It stayed sharp and the last hole was a easy to drill as the first. It works exceptionally well in my drill press as well as in my hand-held drill. When not drilling through holes, this bit leaves a clean, flat bottom with a small hole where the point is. This bit works so well that I'm going to purchase the whole set. I highly recommend the Bora Tempest Forstner bits.

Excellent. Sharp. Accurate
I have a couple of tools made by Bora, and they do not disappoint. Forged perfectly. This bit sits perfectly in my drill press, and there is no wobble. The bit is sharp. I cut holes in 3/4" ply, pallet, MDF, and some scrap Bubinga, and in all cases the bit worked great.I would definitely recommend the Tempest line of bits from Bora.
