Outstanding walking shoe!
I had almost given up trying to find a more traditional looking leather walking shoe when I came across these. I dislike boots as I find them too cumbersome and have a few pairs or fabric walking shoes styled like trainers with grippy soles. I like these and find then really light and waterproof but sometimes they just dont feel rugged enough. These Dartmoors are certainly a solid bit of kit, really tough and feel like they will be durable. I initially ordered the same size as my casual shoes (UK9) but found these a shade small mainly in length. Amazon sent me a replacement pair in UK10 which are a perfect fit. The Amazon replacement system is excellent. I didnt have to pay for another pair and then wait to he refunded for the first - they simply sent the larger size the next day with no charge on the understanding that I returned the first pair using the QR code provided. Excellent! These shoes were comfy right from the start - no breaking in needed. I took them out of the box, put them on and went for an 8 mile walk. My feet felt great during and after this. My second walk wasnt quite as far but was in really heavy rain over undulating grassland. My feet remained warm and dry! They are so comfy Ive been wearing them as everyday shoes, in fact I am so impressed Im going to buy a second pair. At this price point these shoes are outstanding value for money. My best Amazon buy for a long time!

Excellent walking shoe.
Fantastic walking shoes that are incredibly comfortable and highly durable. Well made and perfect for autumn, winter walks with the ever reliable Vibram sole that offers reassuring grip and long lasting wear. Perfect fit, nice looking waterproof leather and good chunky laces. These have done me proud over the last few months having walked over rough overgrown terrain on the Scottish borders for many, many miles without any issues. These are totally comfortable from the start and just get better and better. A little bit formal and traditional looking which I find appealing. Very pleased overall and worth every penny. Just remember to waterproof them every so often and a good brown polish to maintain their good looks and longevity as with any leather footwear. Thank you.

Listing's sizing error needs to be fixed
This is the second pair of grisport footwear I have bought. FIrst was a pair of lightweight shoes. Both those and these new Dartmoors are very comfortable. They seem well made, with quality leather and accurate stitching with no obvious flaws. I'd say they favour a narrower foot and the amazon translation of Euro to UK sizes is IMO inaccurate. I take a UK11 for which, if I ordered from amazon, would have received a Euro 45. Grisposrt themselves map UK11 to Euro46. I have worn these shoes every day for the past 6 weeks, 7-10 km per day on various surfaces. Wear on the soles is just noticable. Grip is good, other than certain surfaces in the wet (some manhole covers and old concrete where aggregate shows through. This is typical of vibram soles in my experience. Wide cleats make them easy to clean. Uppers remain waterproof walking in long, wet grass for fairly extended periods. Lacing seems to slip. I sometimes need to retie them to keep things tight. The innersole is comfortable and supportive and I have now almost got rid of the heel pain I'd developed whilst wearing a pair of cheap karrimor offroad trainers for a year previous. Glad I have gone back to a proper a walking shoe. Now, hoping they last a few years.

Great walking shoes
I had a pair of these years ago to use in my job, that involved a lot,a lot of walking( postman) and they were perfect, until I wore the sole down and they became too slippy.Decided to buy another pair after wasting money on other walking boots/ shoes. You can get them right out of the box,put them on and walk....no blisters,no rubbing, nothing. So comfortable and fit like a glove. These shoes are going to last years, very tough and durable, just high enough for me on the ankle, yet supportive. They are not as light as say,a trainer, but then they are thick leather.Has a removable insoles, very warm and I found them waterproof, only complaint I have is that the laces should be longer! Took a pair of laces out of one of my inferior pairs of shoes and good to go.Can't fault these really, apart from the laces comment.

Brilliant hiking shoes
I have had many different types of hiking footwear from full leather boots to mixed fabric and textile boots and shoes. These are the first predominently leather shoes of this type I have owned, and in truth they are far better than any other hiking footwear that I have owned! The shoes that they replace are five year old Karrimor's with vibram soles, and I thought that they were the absolute business. They had plenty of traction and were comfortable from day one and I genuinely believed no shoes could better them. As the tread wore to a critical point - a few nasty slips on wet stony ground etc., I determined that I would search for some more and so tried several Karrimor styles on, but unfortunately none fitted and I must admit to an impression that Karrimor have cut their materials back and are now cutting corners in production. The result is that none even came close to my requirements. Consequently I needed to go out of my comfort zone and try something completely new hence the purchase of the Grisport Dartmoor. When the shoes arrived I couldn't wait to try them on and to my delight they fitted like a glove and although a littel stiff otherwise felt as if they were made for me. I resolved that the next day I would take them for their inaugral walk. Saturday arrived and slipping the shoes on I set off. The first few yards were a little bit tentative as the stiffness of the leather took a bit of getting used to, but then something weird happened and I can only describe it that they suddenly bedded in and off I went on my usual 4 mile jaunt over the hills near my home. I had no problem ascending, on flat rocky ground and then descending. I got home in record time and slipped the shoes off. I felt no discomfort although later I did notice when I was relaxing in the bath that I had a blister on my right heel. That was a surprise because I did not feel it and I genuinely believe it was over exuberance on my part rather than the shoes. Today on day two there is no way that blisters of any sort were going to stop me doing my Sunday 4 miler and I had no retiscence about wearing my comfortable shoes again but this time with double layer technical socks and the blister covered with a blister plaster. The result the shoes felt even better and no other blisters of any sort or indeed pain from the existing blister - yes they are that comfortable. On reflection I would suggest that a session working in some dubbi would have helped to soften the leather prior to trying them on a walk, so that is my resolve for the future and my advice to a future buyer. Incidentally I have an 8G fitting in Clarks shoes and I found 8 in these shoes to be perfect so in my opinion yoou do not need a size bigger than your normal shoe size. In summary I highly recommend these shoes!

The 'Best' of the Rest!
I have had a lot of difficulty in recent years trying to find a really comfortable walking 'shoe'? I've paid as much as £100 or more only to find most were either too tight, not waterproof, didn't last long and soon fell apart? I've trolled hundreds of websites and shops but never ever came close to acquiring a shoe that I wanted...till now!! I think we are all aware the vast difference shoe sizes are, I'm normally a size 11 and have had size 10's fit like size 12's and vice versa! I saw these advertised on Amazon in July 2011, read all the reviews... all 4 or 5 star, no lesser ones, and the product seemed too good to be true? I ordered the size 12 immediately, taking into account the socks etc... and when they arrived, I was most impressed by the quality of the material how well the shoe was put together. The shoe fitted like a glove, I suffer aching feet even before I go for a walk, but these shoes were like putting on my slippers.... Yes, they were that comfortable!!! It is now April 2012... had the shoes 8 months now, walk on average of 2 mile a day across the cliffs and hard paths of West Cornwall.. and they still look brand new!!! I'm not even considering buying a new pair yet as it looks as if these will last a few good years! I would recommend them to anyone... they are the Best of the Rest! I would recommend at least once a week, and after they get wet (on the outside, they are completely waterproof) to use dubbing as routine maintenance, that way the leather will stay supple and last for years. UPDATE!!! December. 2013.... Amazing shoes! Still going strong... a bit of wear now but no splits or anything significant. Never ever had a pair of walking shoes last so long as these, wear them nearly ever day.

Good pair of boots.
I've had a pair of walking boots that I've worn to work for the past 2 years or so. Until recently they have worn through the heal and have started to let water in on rainy days. So it was time to get a new pair to replace it. The main criteria were the soles had to be solid and shoes wouldn't look too out of place with a pair of trousers on. These seem to fit the bill, with its good casual look and solid construction from what I have read in the reviews. Thanks to those who gave good reviews as it helped immensely with my decision to buy. I ordered from Amazon and as usual it was delivered in good time. I was a bit skeptical about the shoe sizing...I'm generally a 7 or 7.5 but these only seem to start from a 8 UK, with some reviewers saying they came up a little bigger than expected. So I feared they may be too loose fitting. But thankfully they fitted well in terms of size giving adequate space inside if I chose to wear thicker socks when winter arrives. The build appeared good and the soles looked like a solid piece of rubber, unlike my last pair which was hollow on the inside. One thing I didn't like about the shoe was the thin insoles that came fitted, it was like a piece of cardboard and didn't provide much cushioning under the foot. During the first few days I could feel the pattern of the soles as I walked, it felt lumpy in places and wasn't very comfortable at all, so I got a set of cheap memory foam insoles and placed them inside with the Grisport insoles on top. This provided better cushioning and also masked the bumpiness I felt whilst walking. It also provided a slightly tighter fit than before which was an added benefit. I've marked the 4 stars for the cheap insoles. I've had better insoles in cheaper shoes. I've not tested their waterproof abilities yet as it hasn't rained since I got them, but I'm confident they will keep my feet dry. I'm banking on them being as good as other reviewers say regarding their durability and hope they last longer than my last pair.

Buena calidad y aspecto
