We are very limited in our house as to where we can easily use A/C units. This one was mounted in our kitchen. We have a couple fans to pull the cold air into other rooms. It has been working well for years. If I had it all to do over again, knowing what I know now, I would have bought this model. It has worked very well in very hot temperatures and very high humidity. I highly recommend this A/C unit.

I believe one thing that makes this air conditioner as great as it is, is the unique packaging it came in. Electronic equipment and compressors are not designed to be mishandled, dropped, etc and it's a treat to see the way this was packaged. You have your regular outer box done by the manufacturer , typical straps heavy gauge box with inner styrofoam and then, there's this inner box much more durable than the outer! It's so nice to see this very effective machine in absolute perfect condition. Over the years I have had Frigidaire, LG, and GE but this is my first Whirlpool and it does exactly what it advertises. Very cold air, extremely powerful fan on high yet quiet even on high, true Energy Star based upon a watt meter, simple and easy to install, looks good even for a window unit. great remote with very good range and easy to learn controls, quality materials and well designed components. One thing that sets this apart from other window units is that the two vents at the top that dispense the cold air are independent of one another and a feature I like. One vent can be going straight out at a higher angle while the other vent can be going into a totally different direction and lower or higher. And the led control panel that lights up can be turned off with the remote if it bothers you. The installation instructions are excellent yet somewhat confusing in that some reviewers have stated that this has a "slide out box" but this unit doesn't and the 15,000 BTU model and up do have a slide out which makes installation easier for the more heavy units. This one, when finally taken out of all the wonderful packaging, takes approximately 5 minutes to prepare for then two people to place it in a window. Then it provides all types of hardware to properly secure it in a window. It even comes with the insulated fiberboard to place on the two sides as the slide out sides do not offer much as fas as insulation. I do recommend purchasing "closed cell foam" rolls to fill in any gaps and better seal out the weather and perhaps bugs. Amazon has most any type of weatherproof insulation imaginable for your particular unit.After having other air conditioners shipped and see all the damage to the exterior of the units, I wonder what has been damaged on the inside that I can't readily see.And I wonder how much performance I'm losing because of possible inner damage. I truly believe when one is packaged as this one is, then it seems that it will have a longer life and will always perform is it advertises.

This thing is a monster. It works really well. My wallet wasn't happy when my electric bill arrived! I use it 7-8 hours at night. My bill went up $100, give or take. It works really good. Everything is so expensive ( We know why) it's almost not worth it.If you can afford it, go for it.Easy to install with two people. It's big. Not attractive, keeps it cold

A great window unit! First of all, it’s relatively quiet, which I love. Secondly, it’s keeping our whole 1300 sq.ft. house cool! (We’re using a fan to move air down the hallway.)Installation was a little tricky and we had to modify some components to make it fit our window but, overall, very happy with it!

I put this Whirlpool Air Conditioner in my big upstairs art studio. My studio is a huge room, about 850 square feet. It also takes the brunt of the sun in my home because of the many big windows, and as heat, of course, always rises, the hot, humid summer weather makes it miserable and impossible for me to get in work done. I tried it for the first time yesterday; temps were in the mid-nineties and the humidity was stifling. I started this air conditioner early in the morning before the brunt of the heat hit, and ran it all day. It more than did the job for me. I am not one of those people who have to have it freezing cold. Just enough to lower the stifling humidity and bring the temperature down to a comfortable level. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this air conditioner performed. A smaller unit I had purchased last year just wasn't adequate, but this Whirlpool got the job done. I researched carefully before purchasing this unit. Certain criteria that was important to me for the air conditioner; I wanted a compact size so it could be easily removed and carried downstairs for the winter, also weight, quality construction, and capability. For the good job it does, this Whirlpool is a great selection. I purchased a mounting, support bracket, as I had visions of the unit falling two stories, and also to make sure no stress was placed on the window frame. It weighs about 79 pounds, and the dimensions are surprisingly small for so powerful a unit. Installation was a breeze, as I had my son do it. Oh, the stuff a good son will do for a Mum! Seriously though, he said the unit was easy to install. It's compact size is not much larger than the model I was using previously, which came no way close to cooling the big room. When I first turned it on, it made a bit of noise, cycling on and off loudly, but within a minute or less, it settled down to operating with minimum noise. And I love the fact that Amazon delivered this to my very rural residence so I did not have to lug this into a shopping cart, horse it into my SUV, then unload it yet again when I arrived home. I will update after I have used this air conditioner for the summer to let you know if I am still so happy with my purchase.

Upper 90s here in TN. Old A/C went out. Needed something asap so took a chance on the Whirlpool 22,000 btu. Instructions were very vague but we got it installed. The first night was great, cooled well and seemed powerful. The 2nd day I noticed a rattle coming from the fan area that didn't sound normal. I've had a few A/C s over the years and this one definately wasn't sounding new. The next morning my house wasn't as cool as it should be. I pulled the front cover off and all the fins were frozen. Needless to say I was highly agitated . Turned it off to thaw and went to work. Research tells me it could possible be the malfunction of the blower fan which also RATTLES when not operating as it should.I will be returning. Lesson learned Not to order a large appliance off of Amazon again.
