Good quality, cuts like knife through butter
I have used these for almost a year and they are excellent. TBH I've only lubricated them once. They work amazingly. My only complaint is the charging base stopped working but it's not very useful anyway because plugging the cord from the adapter directly Into the device is better anyway. The charge lasts a long time and you'll hardly ever need to charge it. I think at this price, these are super good. I know that the ones I had gotten for around $40 were basically horrible compared to the butter-smoove TPOB Play. Not to beat a dead horse, though. Funny aside: I traveled and forgot the charger. I was at my destination for months and needed to charge my TPOB Play. So I cut open a USB cable and used clothes pins to affix them to the prongs of a shaver electrical adapter I bought at my destination, of which the other end was plugged into my TPOB Play. Then I connected the USB to my power bank. It worked. Just gotta make sure you get the '+' and '-' right. I did the first time. Excellent product: Quiet, lasts a long time without a charge, cuts cleanly and smoothly, cheaper than other products of comparable quality. It's a good buy, for sure.

Absolutely Amazing, 5 of 5 Stars
The short review: As I write this, Amazon is selling the black/color for $97, and my white/black was $129. It’s worth every penny of the higher cost. My direct and to-the-point recommendation is that if you're looking at these at all, get one. Look at the professional reviews of these and you’ll discover these are exceptionally highly regarded; I trust the guys who use these every day to put food on their table and a roof over their heads. Seriously, 5 of 5 stars and I’d give it bonus points if I could. The long review: If you’re worried about overpaying for something that a $30 clipper can do, I get it. $30 clippers are cheap and tend to break when dropped, aren’t well aligned, and are noisy. The blades dull quickly and you wind up with imprecise and uneven cuts. Do they cut hair? Sure, but it isn’t ever going to be a truly great cut and it’ll take a lot longer to do. How do I know? Because I did that for probably two decades before I finally got a professional quality clipper, an Andis ProAlloy. I think that set me back something like $120 back in 2002, which is more like double that in today’s money. It has paid for itself many, many times over. Recently, I’ve started to note a decline in performance and thought maybe it was time to explore cordless options. I’m sure the Andis would function as good as ever with a new blade and a little tuning, and I plan on doing that, but I figured I’d see how things had changed, and so decided to investigate cordless options. My background in barberism (get it?): On deployment a fellow Airman shoved a clipper at me and asked me to cut his hair. I’d never done it before. The basic buzz was easy as pie. As the deployment went along, I learned to taper and fade. I’m not a pro, and may never be, but I can make good basic cuts and I tend to cut my hair a lot better than barbers who charge quite a bit to ultimately frustrate me. Cuts being anywhere from $25-70 plus a tip make it awfully economical to cut your own hair, and frankly, it’s a lot easier than it might seem. With this as my basis for purchase, it was pretty easy to justify cheap clippers, and frankly, easier every day to justify quite expensive ones. Top of the line clippers are anywhere from $300-500 (very few in that top range). Most of the pros are using ones around $200-300. That’s four to six (or less) cuts worth of money and now you can do it yourself. These are selling for $98-$130 right now, which is even fewer trips to the barber per dollar. I watched a bunch of videos that professionals were making. I literally could not find a bad review of these, and in fact found nothing but glowing reviews. Everything they said about the clipper is precisely what I discovered when I finally got it in my hands. They’re absurdly quiet. The shape seems like it might not be all that ergonomic but as soon as you put it in your hand, you understand entirely; feels amazing. It’s got a metal body with a rubberized grip that isn’t so grippy that hair wants to stick to it; it’s more like slightly more grippy plastic if that makes any sense. The blade is incredibly sharp and you can darned near shave with it; use caution edging/blocking; it didn’t cut me, but you can certainly tell if you’re aggressive that it will (so a trimmer is in order unless you’re doing very light touch). You can zero gap them and comes with a tool to let you do that. For those of you who don’t know, zero-gapping is removing the distance between the stationary blade (the one on the ‘back’ of the clipper) and the cutting blade (the one between the top of the clipper and the stationary blade) which effectively shaves you. You can also adjust this to whatever gap you’d like. And the lever has detents; most clippers that cost less will have a ‘floating’ lever to adjust the closeness of the cut. This makes it MUCH easier to get the correct length since you know exactly how many ‘clicks’ you’ve moved the blade gap. The blade itself is incredibly sharp and precise. It stays cool which greatly extends blade sharpness and life, but also makes the clippers more efficient. There’s very little going over the same spot again; it just cuts. I cannot say enough good things about this clipper. As the pros consistently say, this is every bit as good as MUCH more expensive clippers, and better than a great many that cost much more. If you need a good set, this is it.

Excellent quality set
I bought this hair clippers and trimmer set as a present for a professional barber in Europe. He loves this set. He said that the hair clippers and the trimmer are of high quality. The sound is quiet. The battery life is excellent. They are able to handle a high workload. Their weight is light enough and their form is ergonomic and his hands don’t fatigue while he works with them.

amazing-worth your money
best clippers, trimmers, and foil shavers i’ve ever tried. they aren’t loud at all and they’re heavy duty. i like that they have extra clicks so you can go between more sizes without changing your guard as much, it really helps me personally with blending. i will say they are a little heavier than other tools ive held but they’re still super easy to maneuver and use, they’re a good size, id say they’re smaller than other tools but they’re still good quality. very sleek looking and all of the attachments and cleaning tools that came with them work well!! they are cordless so you can use them on the go, you just plug them in to charge them and they flash green until they’re charged and they turn solid green. if you’re looking for good quality tools THIS is what you should get. i get compliments on them all the time and everyone at my work has either the pink ones, green ones, white ones, or these ones!

Smooth and Quiet
this clipper is the smoothest, most quiet clipper ive ever owned. Ive been using two stylecraft instincts for the past two years and the vibration and lack of overall quality of components has gotten old. In fact out of three stylecraft clippers I own one being the “ergo” never worked properly. The blade would wiggle because the washer the used for the lever was of poor design and quality. One instinct I had used for two years was recalled because the battery was prone to blowing up and injuring people. The replacement they sent me was so loud and vibrated so much I just got to dread hearing it turn on. I will never by another stylecraft clipper until they start matching superior components with the superior price. This clipper is 1/3 price but has some beautiful design elements that exceed anything else on the market. Number one it sounds like a beautiful rolls Royce engine starting up. It’s is so smooth and quiet and sounds of quality. I sincerely love it coming from an instinct. The lever. The lever is unlike any other click lever on the market. The design is different..it’s better. And it’s so smooth and functional. My only complaint on the lever is i wish it were aluminum or a metal. It is plastic ..it’s not an issue but a little more sturdy would be nice. The blade is amazing …it’s like an upgrade on my favorite faper blade but this has a better cutting blade and a far superior comb blade with superior metal and oil reservoirs that make a huge difference. The blades stay cool and smooth anyway but the reservoirs make a big difference. The power. The power is good not great. There are other clippers on the market that have more RPM and more torque. Babyliss, stylecraft, all make more clippers with better power. But i was tired of having what felt like a clipper that was about to explode. These clippers have really good power but not great. They can do anything you need them to do but they do so with a quiet elegance. Thats the best way i can describe it. I especially enjoy using them on my four year old. So does he. They fade beautifully….good on bulk removal. The weight and ergonomics….10/10…i love the size and the ergonomics of the clipper. The rubber grips also are functional and amazing. Anyway Highly recommend this clipper..i cant speak to the durability having just purchased the first one a week ago and i went ahead and bought another one as a back up and its on the way. Thats my two cents, thanks.

Great clippers, not so good charging base
I think a few others have mentioned this, and it's true about the charging base. Maybe the contacts do not touch not enabling the clipper to charge, maybe a loose connection inside? Who knows. Not using the base and just connecting directly to the bottom of the clipper did charge the clipper. Now to the clipper itself. I cut my own hair and have been for well over 30 years. I went from a basic whal clipper and thought my haircuts were good enough. But let me tell you, with these clippers I get a better fade due to the adjustments. I always had a corded clipper, these are lightweight and not loud at all. I'm used to the heft of my old one that a couple times I thought I was going to drop these being that they were so light. Battery life is pretty good. I cut my hair once every other week and the charge lasted about 4 months. I hope these last a long time as my corded one still runs strong, have had those for about 20 years. I just wanted to finally try a cordless and a more "professional" style of clipper and so far I'm satisfied.

Not a barber
9/1/24 **Edited to add that the TPOB premium guards do not work well with these clippers. They fit but if you slightly bump them they go flying off really easily. I returned them to Amazon unfortunately and am using some old WAHL guards I had that are pretty good quality and do not fall off. Hopefully TPOB will come out with some premium guards specifically for the Play clippers. Still loving the clippers. Have gave myself probably five cuts so far and battery is still showing fully charged. Great clippers! So I take it these clippers are marketed towards barbers and I can see why. I am just a normal person who cuts his own hair and have been doing so for the last 15 years. Over the years I have purchased a few Wahl's and Oster clippers. All have done the job I needed them to do so no complaints. I decided I wanted to up my game and go cordless. I started looking at Wahl's, YouTube videos etc. And kept seeing/hearing the TPOB name over and over again from different reviewers. I'll be honest, I had never heard of the brand. The more I watched and researched, the easier my decision became. 4.9 rating on Amazon is amazing! Okay so I decided I was getting TPOB clippers but now which one? Back to YouTube for more videos. Again just an amature hair cutter but I wanted the best of the best. So that led me to the PLAY. So I bit the bullet and spent more than I initially intended to do. My clippers in the past, no research or anything were half the price or less so $125 ish I was like wow okay! But anyway, I'm also a firm believer of you get what you pay for! So I ordered them and fast forward a few days, had them in my hand! Very, very nice and amazing quality! I'm not into the bright colors but I can see if you have a chair or shop that might appeal to the younger crowd. I appreciate having the choice to change out the plates and grip. I just blacked mine out, not that it has anything at all to do with the quality of these clippers. These clippers are so smooth and quiet. I usually wait until the weekend to give myself a cut. Not this time, I had to try them out right away and was not disappointed at all! Love the freedom of no cord, 5 hour run time they say, sleek look, amazing high quality blade, charging cord and stand, and also different color plates that came with it. Would have been nice if they would have included the premium guards but not a deal breaker. The ones that came with it are okay but I decided to purchase the TPOB premium guards for $34.99 also on Amazon so I guess I will see if they are worth the upgrade when they arrive. All in all I am super pleased with my purchase. Hopefully they will hold up, I don't see why they wouldn't. Seems to be of very high quality materials.
