Penguin Bloom: The Odd Little Bird Who Saved a Family

Its a great book. Not long
Its a great book. Not long, beautiful pictures and easy to read in a single sitting. Its an amazing story and triggers a wide array of emotions. For me, while it's unique in many ways, sadly it's not in many others, and anyone that has 'suffered' can relate to this story and especially the importance of love, support, understanding, time and perhaps a special friend, whether it be feathered, four legged or otherwise.

Rather flat
I chose to read this book when I heard it was about to be made into a film with noteworthy actors in the leading roles. However I found the writing weak with too many cliches and self-indulgent contemplation. Also it was poor on detail. For instance feeding a young injured frightened bird must have been quite a challenge. The developing connection between Sam and the bird was also glossed over, as were the individual contributions of the three boys, and there must have been conflicts of interests at times. I hope the film manages to bring more life into the story.

Amazing
This book truly moved me. Sad, warm, thought provoking, questioning of life and how love can heal.A family who were thrown into the most horrendous situation due to a freak accident show how love can give strength to go on. Life for Sam is bleak and her resolve to continue made me think and question at times. How do you continue when life seems so lost? How does a mother figure of the family continue. How can she survive.I would recommend this book to everyone who thinks they cannot go on. Life is worth living for and this book show it. Sam had to be an inspiration to all. Penguin Bloom is a fantastic book. So glad a friend recommend it to me.

Moving honest and beautiful x
A beautiful heartfelt story that just oozes love, respect, family, etc. Gorgeous photo’s and written from the heart by the author (the Hero) and a comprehensive honest account of how the lady felt becoming disabled from an active busy life. Very humbling and I read it from start to finish. I couldn’t put it down.

An amazing story and helped me feel someone understood
I have chosen to give this book 5 stars because the story is one of emotional consequence and helps me to come to terms with my disability. I have just downloaded the audio book for my partner to listen to as he is struggling how to help and protect me. I was also an athletic person, and had never thought of going back to canoeing. I think I will now try this.

Delightful, inspiring and heart-wrenching story. I read it in one sitting as once I started it, I couldn’t put it down! Wonderful photographs of Penguin, the Magpie, throughout the story. Definitely recommend it.

Keep picking it up as do my friends....
Had seen pics on the internet and decided I needed the hard copy. Sooo glad I got it. It is on my coffee table and everyone who has opened it has had tears in their eyes. So important during these times, the books brings in the connection between man/women/child and the love of an animal (bird, in this case).

Love to see more books like this.
Beautiful book.I would love if more books were introduced like this.Birds and small rodents don't get as much limelight as cats and dogs. So this was a perfect joy.
