Good Leslie Thomas
I enjoy a Leslie Thomas novel and this deals with a theme of his that has been dealt with in other stories - that of running away. I found myself wanting to know more or read more of the exploits of some of the characters - Sol would have made a good spin off character. I was not sure how the story would conclude and having read some other reviews alluding to a sudden ending I was expecting something else but I thought the closing pace was OK.

enjoyable!!
I always enjoy the author Leslie Thomas, his character's are so believable. This is a funny book, but with a good story line. It's basically about a chap that finds it hard to conform, hence the title, but it's also a lovely story but not a mushy one, believable and as I say funny in places. The way Leslie writes about the characters you can feel as if you know them and therefore can't wait to turn the page to see what happens next.I would really recommend this book, i think there's a bit of Nickolas in all of us, male and female.... Doesn't everyone want to run away some time in life. I must say I'm so glad Leslie Thomas is now available on kindle -about time too. Pity he isn't alive to enjoy the glory once more, a truly lovely and charming man.

Similar to Goodnight & Loving
Not that dissimilar from the Adventures of Goodnight & Loving, although written in a very immersive style. One of the few books of late that I couldn't put down, and looked forward to reading the next timeAll the ingredients, a disloyal wife (and solicitor), a dysfunctional family, a main love interest and a very annoying ending (almost as if Thomas just threw the book down and said he was done with it)Yet for all that, a very satisfying read. Now I'm sorry that I read it too quickly;)

Good read
This was a good book, I think one of the author's old ones. I thought the main character was a rather weak man, really frightened of his family, especially his son but I enjoyed the story.

Every day life made exciting
I am an admirer of how Leslie can lighten your mood and give you that sense you also could be more adventurous. It helps that the venues are familiar and they form pictures in your mind. An excellent read although maybe sometimes unbelievable.

Another Classic from one of Britain`s best authors`!
As always- an excellent and efficient service from Amazon and its suppliers. Leslie Thomas`s books seem to veer wildly from the classic to the not so good. Luckily "Running Away" falls in the former category!

going nowhere
I've read four of Thomas's books and liked them all. This is the fifth and puts the fear of the lord in me in the off chance I think of reading another. It's a throw away - only fit for lining the bookshelf, insulating the walls and keeping the cold out.
