A comfortable knife and a great daily slicer?
This knife is durable and comfortable Japanese style wa handle with a nearly worry-free stainless steel finish. The tip is excellent for fine detail work on vegetables and fruit and has made it one of the knives in my top daily rotation. The packaging is incredible work of art of its own! The stainless steel finish prevents rust and patina from forming. I do not recommend putting this in the dishwasher! I Purchased during the before Christmas sale at a great value for my money. The knife arrived very sharp and holds an edge well. When sharpening this knife it is best suited to use high quality ceramic whetstones & diamond plates. On my first sharpening I was able to apply such an edge that really bumping my skin accidentally resulted in an injury. At 210 mm it is a great size for most kitchen tasks. Meat, chicken, vegetables and fruit are all game for this knife. Update - 6 months of near daily use, I had a small issue with edge chipping, a few strokes a the 5000 grit ceramic whetstone brought back a clean edge with little effort. The core steel is typical of this style knife and is very hard. I estimate 62+ HRC. Still very happy with this knife and use it daily. I do suspect this is manufactured in China and not in Japan as implied. Still it is a high quality knife worth the money when purchased on sale under $100.

Very sharp
Great knife. Really sharp. Bought for tailgating after work. A coworker cut his paper plate in half by accident while cutting meat. We aren't used to knives this sharp. Carne asada,onion and quesadillas it was used on. No complaints

Beautiful knife
What a beautiful knife. This is my first knife for my work as sushi chef. The sharpness edge so good, size also fits to my hand, durability is good helps me to cut faster and it's claim rust resistance, I hope it's not just a claim.

Great knife for the price
I've been using this knife for awhile now and I've been impressed with it so far. It retains a nice, sharp edge, cuts well and feels good in the hand. I haven't had any chipping or rust so far, but I do maintain it properly and avoid using it on hard materials like bone or nuts. Which you shouldn't be using a Japanese knife for anyway. I also wash and wipe it dry after every use. If you're willing to treat this knife properly, it will serve you well and it's a great knife for the price, when you catch it on sale.

Not sure if actually Japanese made, but
Looks amazing, I got on sale for 80$. But 2nd day of using I noticed chipping, very small tho. A bit thick and the balance point is to forward. Good knife but not worth paying over 100 for it.

It's a nice knife. I love it and use it everyday. It became my favorite even though I have other fancy knives. Only one downside is it still rusts if it stays wet. So I wipe off the knife right after using it. Just roughly. I have been using this for 2 months. No sharping yet but it's still sharp.
