Transmitted by email or by logging in to investors' websites, the business plan needs to be a succinct and punchy document that delivers all the information necessary to decide whether the project is of sufficient interest for investigation depth. Seasoned individual investors receive typically up to 100 proposals a week and are prepared to spend no more than 10 minutes on each plan. Too much mystique has accumulated over the years to the writing of business plans that will attract investors while the role of the business plan has changed. Internet communication has enabled rapid identification of potential investors and first contact with them in ways that were unheard of 20 or even 10 years ago.
