... folding cycle for about 2 weeks now and just LOVE IT. I had knee arthroscopy from a meniscal ...
I have been using my stamina folding cycle for about 2 weeks now and just LOVE IT. I had knee arthroscopy from a meniscal tear about 3 months ago, and while doing my physical therapy I noticed one sitting in the area i was doing the stationary bike, and asked the gal that was next to me doing her therapy if she had ever used one of those and she said yes she had one at home and had bought it from amazon at a good price, so i then asked the therapist if i should get one after my therapy was over and she said yes by all means that it helps a lot. Well i ordered the stamina and was amazed at the price, expected a lot more. I am not one to exercise any part of my body, and my legs the past few years have been giving me problems (i'm 75) but after using it every day for 20 minutes my legs feel like they did 25 years ago, next week gonna increase my work out time to 30 minutes and leave it at that. The only problems that i've had with it is, after 15 minutes it gets extremely hot (not where your body would touch) and then starts making a whistling noise, mostly it drives my dog up the wall, also it starts to get jerky. If anyone has experienced this problem, and took care of it by ; oiling, tightening, etc please post something here and I will keep checking back. For the price and the convenience of this little contraption I will continue putting up with this noise and jerking after 15 minutes. Great exercise for people that don't do the walking thing. Cannot beat Amazon

Great way to get in a little exercise while you're sitting around
I used to live in an apartment building with a large gym, then I moved to an apartment building with a small gym and most of the equipment was partially broken. So, I bought a recumbent cycle off Amazon to keep in my apartment. I had over 1000 square feet of space and I could accommodate a large piece of exercise equipment. Recently, though, I moved to a very expensive city and I live in an apartment that's almost HALF the square footage of my last place. I sold the recumbent cycle regretfully. As I don't want to pay for a gym membership, I thought a foldable under-the-desk pedal bike would be a good compromise. When flat, I can slide it under the bed out of view. I can sit on the couch or at the dining room table or at the desk while browsing the internet. It's lightweight and compact enough that I could even take it to work. Let's talk about the negatives first. The "tension" is almost nonexistent. I tightened the tension bolt as much as I could and there was hardly any resistance. Now keep in mind that I'm not recovering from surgery or a heart attack, I'm fairly young, and I am (trying) to use this as real exercise equipment, like I would my old recumbent cycle. I could definitely see this working for my mother or grandfather as an inexpensive way to get in a little cardiovascular exercise, especially since they wouldn't have to do any heavy lifting or major assembly. In short, this is not a substitute for a walk or jog on the treadmill, an hour on the recumbent, an hour on the spinner cycle, but if you're sitting lazily around the house anyway, this is a wonderful option. The rubber feet come turned inward and you have to turn them outward so that the flat side can rest on the floor. I'm a relatively strong person for a girl and I couldn't do more than one foot. My husband had to do it and even he had a little trouble, and he's much stronger than I am. Maybe it depends on how "stuck" they are. Mine were quite stuck. This cycle slides on the floor, so I'd buy a rug or one of those non-slip rug mats (that you place under a rug so that it doesn't slide all over your hardwood). The positives are numerous: affordable, easy to lift and carry around to wherever you want to workout, extremely easy assembly (two bolts, the timer, and the legs, which I admit was a little hard), and folds so that you can hide it whenever you don't want to look at it. I like it, but I definitely like it for people on a budget, people in recovery from an illness, people who are sedentary due to work or other reasons, and older people who can't engage in more physically demanding exercise.

Awesome, Glad I bought it.
This thing is perfect. I can bike while watching netflix or while working on my studies. Putting it together was a breeze but it takes a bit of doing to fit it under my desk. You do have to push it a bit further out kinda like one of those low seat bikes. I didn't have any problems with this moving around in fact one it was settled on the floor trying to slide it forward resulted in my chair being dumped backwards. It's really stable. Adjusting the tension is a bit hard to work out. It's not very sensitive until you tightening it to a certain point and then it gets pretty strong. Like changing gears on a regular bike you have to pedal a few times for the change to take smooth effect though there is the occasional hiccup. Due to knee injury I keep the tension down. I love the simplicity of it. No fancy gadgets to break, easy to put away and easy to use.

Gets the job done.
You get what you pay for. The product works as DESIGNED. The resistance is via friction, not a flywheel meaning you may require tools to tighten it enough for more intense workouts, being a friction device it heats fairly well and the little silver caps on the ends popped off due to the casing expanding from the heat. I just waited for them to cool down and taped them on. The machine squeaks when I increase the resistance too much and I start to lose pace or if I'm going too slowly. Does slide some, just placed a sturdy box behind the machine. You may have problems with the height I have fairly long legs and I cant use the machine with my legs comfortably under nor too close to my desk, not a major issue. If you have a rolling chair you will move unless you can stop your chair from rolling. Over all I am satisfied with the product for the price I paid to keep me from sitting still all day at work

Sciatica? Better get into chair biking!
Picture this... an 85 yo mother with sciatica (now called neuropathy) and just broke a hip. Ugh! {physical therapist came out after surgery and after a week or so, had her using this. The first day he broke his out, her sciatica was flaring up really bad. After the first minute on this bike, the pain was gone! Amazing product that will be used a great deal from here on out!!!! Thank you!

Defective right out of the box. (2 times)
(Edit 4/4/14): I originally gave this product a 3 star rating, but have changed it to 1 star, and I would never recommend this product to anyone. (Unless the makers, Stamina Products, initiate quality control and nylon washers that don't fall to pieces.) I purchased this unit through Amazon, and have since received a replacement. Unfortunately, it's also defective right out of the box, and with the same problem I outlined in my original review. Part 9, a 1/2" nylon washer located next to the hub cap, was so brittle it was broken, and further fell to pieces upon inspecting the cycle before I even set it up. Original Review: I'd taken some time to research what was in my price range, and settled on the Stamina 15-0125 InStride Folding Cycle because of the overall reviews. Both Amazon and UPS processing and shipping were fast and excellent, with no damage to the box or packaging whatsoever. Pros: -Setting the cycle up was very easy, and the assembly instructions were easy to follow. It even includes an exploded view of the cycles' parts, so I knew precisely which piece was defective. -The main frame feels heavy duty, and of good quality for the price. -The plastic pedal straps are velcro adjustable. When adjusted to my foot size, the strap did not touch the ground when the pedal was flipped over. (You do not have to use the pedal straps, and they won't get in the way if you don't.) -The stand caps feel like a sturdy rubberized plastic, and are fairly difficult to adjust by hand. (Which in theory, should make it difficult for the caps to move out of position during use.) -The tension/resistance of the cycle is easily adjustable. -The timer is very simple and comes with a battery. It has one button and a plain LCD screen that will display minutes and seconds. It can be turned on, reset, started, paused or stopped with a press of the button. It turns off automatically after 4 minutes of being in the pause/stop mode. -The cycle can fold and is easy to store when not in use. Cons: -The part that was broken was the right side 1/2" nylon washer that should have been in between the hub cap and e clip on the crank. When I unpacked the cycle, I didn't notice the pieces of nylon washer left in the clear plastic packing. But when I found them later, close inspection revealed that the washer is extremely brittle. -Without the nylon washer(s), the adjacent e clip(s) can fly off the crank during use. (It was startling! Lol...) -Without the nylon washer(s) and e clip(s), the hubcap(s) fall away from the elbow of the main frame, and rattle or fall all the way to the pedal(s) during use. This also exposes the brake blocks. -Without the nylon washer and e clips, the crank axle can and will move from side to side, throwing off the balance. This becomes even more noticeable/critical and even dangerous when resistance is used. -The pedals look and feel pretty cheap (easily worn out or breakable). -The adjustable resistance isn't very smooth during use. But I suspect this is just the nature of equipment with knob/bolt adjusted resistance. (And the missing washer with resulting mishaps could have played a part in it.) -The customer service number for Stamina Products only leads to an automated voice mail. After trying for 5 business days, during their normal hours of operation, I was unable to contact or speak to a real person. (Edited) I give this item 1 star because I do not feel it's even worth the sale price ($34.99 on Amazon, at the time of initial purchase and review). If I have anything to add to my review at a later date, I will edit it. Thank you for reading, and I hope this helps!

Great Value and Nice Quality
This is a great, easy setup and the price is right. I wasn't sure how much use I'd be able to get out of a cycle unit at my desk, so I needed one where the price made sense combined with the simple, compact design, and this one was great. I've been using it for a little while and it's Portable and works smoothly as you expect it to. I really like that it warms me up at work and I can leave my space heater off now. The adjustable tension is nice, but there's not a whole of of resistance. It seems to increase in resistance as it warms up as you use it. All in all, I think the resistance is fairly on track since if there were much more, your seat would just roll back. I did have to get a little wedge under my chair's wheel to keep me from gradually sliding back, but that is to be expected. Perhaps it would be nice to see a wedge or some kind of mechanism to be included, but it's still quite a nice unit. The timer thing even comes with a battery, but I knocked it off once and decided I'd rather leave it off than to keep knocking it. The bottom side of the pedals are a good option too if you don't feel like fumbling to strap yourself in. All in all, money well spent on getting a touch of exercise in at work!

Spend a little more, it would probably be worth it.
I bought this to use at my desk so I'm not so sedentary during the workday. That didn't work out for a couple of reasons: (1) my chair rolls away from the bike as I pedal, and (2) my knees hit the underside of the desk. I guess I will take it home to use on the couch while I watch TV... That being said, the bike is not great. The foot straps are not adjustable, and they are very out of shape/smashed. You have to bend down to them just so you can put your foot in them. The timer is barely connected and falls off even with the slightest movement, AND it's just a stop/start timer that is not wired to the bike at all. Don't know what I expected for 20 bucks, but I could just use my phone to do the same thing, without having to bend down to the floor to start and stop. The resistance is not great either. There is a bolt that you tighten by hand, but it is VERY hard to turn, and even after turning it several times, I still feel no resistance in the pedals. I should have just sprung for a nicer/higher priced unit.

Works great
Works great for what’s its intended. The only negative is that it slides when peddling. I have to place it up against the island to hold in place.

Cumple

Enjoying the portability of this product.
I bought this little piece of exercise equipment after seeing a friend use hers while she traveled in her motor home. Convenient for times when you are sitting for long hours, and want to stretch your legs. I love this cycling machine, and have been using it daily for 25 to 40 minutes. There are only two kickers: firstly it slides if you put it on a smooth surface or area rug, and secondly, it sometimes seems to 'stick' as you are pedaling. I have found that if you get an inexpensive rubber bath mat, the mat stays on the floor, and the cycler does not move. We went on a trip to Quebec, and stayed in a condo. It was great to pack and include with the rest of our luggage. Careful, because as advised, it does get hot at the juncture where the peddle is rotating in the metal frame. For the price, I think this is great! I hope to be able to use this daily, and it will be particularly good on wet cold days when I am being lazy sitting and watching Netflix, with no desire to go outdoors.

Updated review!
It was squeaky at first even though I had WD-40'd it a few times. I think I just needed to wear it in because now, no squeaking! I absolutely love this little product. I can work at my desk all day and get the blood flowing in my legs. I feel like my brain functions better thanks to the folding cycle. Great for at home or in the office. Anyone who sits at a desk all day needs this!
