Evercade VSR

The included instructions state that the Evercade Vs-R requires a 5V USB power supply of 1 Amp to 3 Amp (recommended 2 Amps). When I used a 5V 1A power block the screen kept going black and freezing. Switching to a 5V 1.55A fixed this problem and the Vs-R console worked 100% properly thereafter. Even so I am going to get a 2 Amp power block since this is recommended by the manufacturer for optimal function. The Evercade Vs-R is a stylish successor to the original Vs (which I also liked the look of) with it's black casing and large horizontal light on the front indicating that the console is starting up, ready etc. The bundled Tomb Raider 1 to 3 cartridge alone is worth £20 at the time of this review being written. Two cartridge slots mean potentially less cartridge swapping and 4 USB slots allow for up to 4 controllers to be connected where games support this. There is quite a lot of customisation available, such as CRT scan line effects, screen ratios, and a choice of borders where a game does not fill the screen. With arcade, home computer, and console games of 8 bit, 16 bit, and 32 bits available for the Evercade Vs-R (and other Evercade consoles in the range) this is a good way to enjoy classic games without worrying about decades old tech breaking down or as another option alongside original tech if preferred. Overall a nice little system with an ever expanding library of physical cartridges and hundreds of games to choose from.

Retro Gaming 💙 The Evercade catalogue is huge and after getting a Superpocket for Christmas I spotted the VSR on offer on Amazon, with the Tomb Raider games, at a better price than the standalone console on the Evercade site (this isn't always the case so check prices across the board before buying) The console packaging has a removable Tomb Raider sleeve and the game cart is seperate in the box not built in to the console (for some reason I had it in my head it would be built in like on the Superpockets) The game cart being separate is a huge bonus as if you're not a fan then you have a game to sell on or flog to Cex making the overall console cost even lower. The console will connect to the internet and keep track of what games in the catalogue you own. If you register your email you will get secret codes for games you can download. I got a rather nice little adventure game. The console comes with a USB power cable (not plug adaptor so add your own country specific plug) and a wired controller with a very long cable that should reach most sofas. You will need to provide your own HDMI cable. Amazon as usual was efficiently delivered next day with Prime delivery. Overall I'm chuffed with this little console, additional game carts as amazing value compared to modern games and it's nice to get back to basic gaming. Totally recommended!

Got the evercade VSR console with the Tomb Raider games included. Console was fairly easy to set up. Like the other reviews, I had to factory reset it, before it would link to the WiFi. After factory reset I have not had any problems setting up and it quickly downloaded and installed a software and cartridge update, and a game separate to the cartridges. Supposedly gives you a new game every time it updates the software.( A nice touch) It pays to gently install the cartridge and will take two cartridges at a time. Like all the other reviews, you will need an adapter to power the console and a HDMi cable as neither of these come with the console,although you do get a power cable. You get one gamepad but there is the option to add four pads in total. Further game pads retail at about £20 on Amazon. I found the game pad pretty responsive, more responsive than the game pads on my sega mega drive mini. Lots of options to change sound and display options. Tomb Raider games that came with it work really well with the gamepad and I felt a sense of nostalgia playing the games even though I am currently a bit crap at them at the moment.

Great little retro console

The VS-R is a great way to have a retro gaming experience. All you.need is a t.v. or monitor with an HDMI input, and you're almost good to go. I said almost, because you'll also need a power supply unit (i use a spare from.an old moble phone) & an HDMI cable as evercade don't supply either of them in the box. I can understand there are environmental concerns at work here (I think), but at some point our old existing spare PSU's are going to go kaput, as many phone (and tablet) manufacturers have stopped supplying them with their new products, thereby creating a market for multiple third parties to make and sell them everywhere. I'm not sure if the same.holds for HDMI cables. The other issue, which required an hour of Internet research & eventual self solving, was that out of the box, the unit wouldn't pick up the WI-FI Internet signal ,nor allow the D-PAD to function properly. In effect, I had to reboot the unit and then connect to the internet etc in order to resolve things. It would have been nice to have a small crib sheet to this effect, included in the packaging. I suspect evercade had supply issues in meeting the huge demand for this & the EXP-R last year, so maybe these things got sidelined a little in the process. The above aside, playing the included Tomb Raider games was great fun; they were harder than I recalled, but you have multiple save states and lots of usable customisation options for the display, and so on. The console itself also has unlockable games included (many of the codes are on the internet) and once connected to the internet, you get a downloadable game now and then too. To sum up, the console and it's ecosystem are an excellent addition or a great way into the retro gaming ecosystem. Here's hoping evercade help newer owners with slightly better documentation, and maybe an included cable and/or PSU too.

If you have some cartridges already for one of the handhelds the VS is a must have. The saves are on the cartridges so you can continue playing between the handheld and TV. It works with every usb xbox/switch/pc controller I’ve tried including 8bitdo wireless dongles so multiplayer is easy if you have some of those!

Good video game system, easy to set and play

Machine très compacte, esthétique avec une jolie bande LED bleue une fois allumée. Deux slots cartouches Evercade pour plus de praticité. Testée avec la cartouche Neogeo Arcade 1, l'émulation est bonne, on peut sélectionner le mode d'affichage avec scanlines (effet CRT). Le pad fourni avec a l'air robuste et est plutôt maniable. J'y ai associée une manette 8bitdo SNK, réplique du pad neogeo CD, avec les clicks d'origine, les sensations sont bien là. Pour allumer la console, un appui de 2 secondes est nécessaire. Et si lors de la mise en service de l'Evercade VS-R votre wifi n'est pas détecté, il faudra restaurer la console au format usine (paramètres). Pensez bien à vous connecter sur un wifi 2.4Ghz, et elle vous proposera certainement une mise à jour. Je suis très satisfait de cette machine rétro compatible avec les cartouches Evercade, format propriétaire, et surtout avec des jeux licenciés. Je recommande fortement si vous êtes nostalgiques.

Bien pas plus jeux en anglais, pas de version française. Pas facile à jouer avec la mallette,

Nonostante gli anni passino, la voglia di giocare non diminuisce e questa console ha riacceso in me quella scintilla che solo i prodotti "fisici" sanno dare. ​ Perché sceglierla? ​Vero spirito "Plug & Play": La cosa che più amo è la totale assenza di patch infinite, download obbligatori o aggiornamenti di sistema snervanti prima di iniziare. Inserisci la cartuccia e giochi, esattamente come facevamo negli anni '80 e '90. ​Il piacere del collezionismo: Le cartucce sono bellissime, costano il giusto e arrivano con libretti d'istruzioni cartacei (una rarità oggi!) e spesso gadget come adesivi o poster. È un piacere vederle esposte in libreria. ​ Qualità costruttiva: La console è solida e ben rifinita. Anche se la plastica non è definibile "premium", trasmette un senso di robustezza e affidabilità. ​ Il Controller: Il pad incluso è sorprendente, preciso e molto comodo. Tuttavia, per i titoli arcade come Metal Slug o Super Sidekicks, io ho preferito affiancare un Arcade Stick per un'esperienza 100% da bar, e la console risponde in modo fulmineo. ​ Esperienza d'uso ​Il sistema è veloce, i menu sono intuitivi e le opzioni di personalizzazione (filtri video, aspect ratio) permettono di adattare i vecchi pixel ai moderni schermi 1080p senza sbavature. Ho acquistato il bundle con Tomb Raider e l'emulazione è perfetta: fluida e senza alcun lag. ​ Conclusioni ​Se siete nati negli anni '80 o se semplicemente amate la storia dei videogiochi, l'Evercade VS-R è un acquisto obbligato. È un prodotto onesto, fatto da appassionati per appassionati, che celebra il videogioco come puro divertimento senza complicazioni moderne. Super consigliata!
