CURECARE Thumb Brace, New 2 in 1 Thumb Spica Splint Right & Left Hand (M/L)

I really, REALLY like this splint. I've recommended it to many with thumb/UCL pain that many get that (usually associated with over-use of the thumb in the same way). I'm a cross stitcher so the "pinch the needle is my issue. At this point I'm wearing it to prevent further damage to a torn ligament in my right thumb that I'll be having surgery on on 04/25/25. I LOVE its accessibility on how strongly you need to set it to (using the 2 internal (and removable) parts to the splint, plus the splint with neither plastic nor metal piece is pretty good at stabilization on its own. I recommend it to all my physical therapist/occupational therapist that I see frequently for this kind of damage. I have both in right now (right wrist/thumb) for max stability not just to avoid further damage but to train myself to do things left handed as I'm going to be in a cast (completely immobilizing my right thumb and wrist, and forearm) for a while, then a fairly rigid brace (made to fit me), then on and on for about year (including PT) which should be... interesting since I'm STRONGLY right handed so I'm wearing the brace ALSO gives me (what I hope will be) a fairly solid reminder when I try to do stuff with my right hand and focus on being unable to just switch to my right hand when I'm not paying attention. This brace helps with that IMMENSELY. I like that that the brace covers the wrist a bit too since I've also got wrist pain from my injuries. My ONLY complaint (not worth losing a star) is I wish there was some sort of "tag" on the brace itself (or if there is such a thing and someone could tell me where!) that says what size each is (if there is one, I haven't found it). I bought one in each size because the sizing kinda overlapped and honestly I feel like they're pretty much the same fit and would like to return one since I don't need two...the bag has the size but I'm prone to losing things and can't find the proper bags, and if I did I still don't think I'd be able to decide which brace goes in which bag. Mildly annoying but not the end of the world. Great at immobilizing thumb, OR adjusting internal bracing to make a bit softer. Very versatile. Highly recommend for "skier's thumb" as it's called (I don't ski but use a manual wheelchair for a genetic condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and (which can cause regular dislocations) and my right thumb was sick of it as it was constantly dislocated it as I pushed myself (so I've upgraded the style of my push rims so I can't catch my thumb in) but for now I have a partially torn UCL that I'll have to learn to be left handed for about 3-4 months while it heals then lots of occupational therapy. I'm also a cross stitcher so it is highly likely this is some sort of "repetitive movement" injury as well as self-ambulating in my manual chair as my left hand is giving me grief now that I've switched to only stitching on the left hand. Sigh. You just can't win! ---- ETA Update 05/03/25 and am now post op and it turned out I'd actually fully snapped the UCL in the thumb and am in a lot of pain from surgery 8 days post op and I've got another week before the cast they put on me after surgery which is SUPER uncomfortable (to say the least...they offered prescription strength ibuprofen (aka 600mg) which I turned down as I have plenty of the 200mg ones at home. Sheesh you'd think you at least offer Vicodin (a very low-strength opioid but better than IBUPROFEN). Stupid "war on drugs" here in the US. So if you start getting "hypermobile" at the UCL (I highly recommend looking up the ligaments in the thumb on Google images or just search "what does it feel like to have a torn thumb ligament" with loss of strength in a thumb I HIGHLY recommend wearing one of these splints to at least stabilize your thumb(s) until you can see an orthopedist or orthopedic surgeon and highly recommend an MRI on the painful thumb since it's not just the thumb bone but also a tear of the ligament which won't show up on an x-ray you really want to get that MRI. Insurance (at least Medicaid in my (US) state requires an x-ray before doing more expensive imaging (aka MRI) that will show soft tissue injury. I highly recommend it! Stick to the splint until you can get that imaging. Keep a log of each day and what the average "pain level" you experienced and where the pain is (I know everyone hates the 1-10 pain scale but give it a go. It'll prove to your Dr that you're taking this very seriously and you might get bumped higher up the line for the referrals/scans. Seriously post op time plus all the PT/OT after surgery is no joke!

I don't know how this thumb thing happened, but it's agonizing and irritating. Apparently bracing it over night can help. This is a very comfortable, firm brace for either thumb. It has both a metal and a plastic bracing structure in it. You can remove them or use both, and the metal one can be bent to adjust to fit. I left it straight to completely immobilize my thumb. The velcro straps are excellent. They hold firm yet are not too hard to pull open! I got the larger size, and the strap does go all the way around my wrist and onto the brace, but it's pretty stretchy. It's long enough to fit a much much larger wrist well. You can undo the strap entirely, set your finger, and then do the strap up. The strap for the thumb is about 3/4" wide, and can hold the thumb tip still, or allow a little wiggle room. There is a 3rd adjustable strap at the thumb web. You can leave this loose, or put it at an angle. I like that this strap is adjustable. All of the straps have edges bound in soft material. The inner side is soft microfiber with nice padding. It's breathable and can be worn for hours comfortably. I can actually drive while wearing this brace. It's liveable. My thumb feels better due to wearing this brace. Not healed, but protected. A good start towards healing. This brace is worth the money for sure. I got the lighter grey color. It's unobtrusive, and visible on dark or light surfaces (I kept losing the black one on our dark sheets lol) The brace doesn't add a lot of bulk, it's easy to pull on most long sleeves over it. I like this brace.

I like this brace. The support is good for what I'm using it for (Dequervain's Tenosynovitis) and the straps are much easier to adjust than the brace given to me by my doctor. I like the black with orange stitching, it's very clean looking & when I get any pet hair on it it's very easy to wipe off. My only downside is the extra strap, it's very supportive but with the way that I am adjusting it to keep my thumb stable, it does pinch in between my thumb and index finger. I would recommend wearing a compression glove or something similar underneath to mitigate this issue. Time will tell on the quality of the velcro, but so far it has been very sturdy & has not detatched while I've worked.

I injured my thumb, either a ligament or tendon, and went to urgent care. They gave me a wrist brace to immobilize my wrist/thumb. They also gave me a shot of pain medication because my thumb was in excruciating pain. The brace did NOT work at all. By the next morning my whole hand was swollen. I found this brace and figured it would work better. I was SO glad that I got it. It was EXACTLY what I needed. It is adjustable in three different places, so you can loosen or tighten it depending on your needs. It allowed free movement of my fingers so they didn't get stiff and sore, but it kept my thumb protected and stable, so I wouldn't injure it further. I wore it for a couple of weeks to allow the injury to heal. Since then I mostly have it off, but if I do too much and my thumb starts to hurt again, I put it back on. It's so comfortable and not bulky at all. It's pretty easy to put on and adjust and it can work on either the right or left hand! Plus the pink one is pretty fashionable! And it was a great price, especially considering how much it helped!

This is helping me so much. I have de Quervain's tenosynovitis from quilting and sewing too much. Using this thumb spica splint has been a game changer for me. This appliance is actually quite well made, well stitched and has a stretchy binding around all edges so it doesn't cut into your skin. There are 3 support straps with hook and loop closures on them to help hold the appliance in place. There is a bit of give in the support to allow you to adjust it easily yet it remains solidly in place once fitted. I really like the fact it is ambidextrous so can be used on either left or right hand. There is a hardened insert on the dorsal side of the thumb to keep the wearer from bending their thumb and exacerbating the injury. If you are in need of a splint for this issue, I would definitely recommend this one.

I injured myself at work about a year ago and through that injury I had to use my right hand a lot. It sped up the already pre-existing arthritis that I have in my CMC joints and really my entire hand and body, but the CMC is what I'm feeling. I've been through braces and tapes and honestly when I tape it myself, that's the best because I'm really good at it now 🤣 but this is a very good brace even though I did buy one a size 2 small for myself. It seems to hold the wrist and the thumb pretty well but no please. If you're gonna do work, will you have to grab things and and make fists it's not gonna keep your thumb stiff. I mean it will but it's meant to keep it braced so just keep that in mind if you're doing work and don't be mad because this is supposed to keep it it's stable and splinted.🤷🏻‍♂️. So if you're gonna do work, it's gonna hurt. But for the price, it does exactly what it's supposed to do. It's more of a reminder to keep your hand and thumb from doing things that it's gonna affect it in a bad way. I'm really tired 🤣 but it's pretty good and definitely worth the money some and this is from somebody who has severe arthritis basically as bad as it gets in both hands.✌🏼

This was my 9 year olds favorite brace from amazon. I ordered three different ones and this was the most comfortable and secure.

Eine nicht nur hilfreiche, wohltuende, gut passende, anpassungsfähige, gut verarbeitete und zudem preiswerte Alternative zu einer Daumenorthese aus dem Sanitätshaus. Dort hätte sie mich das 4-fache gekostet. Zu einer Verordnung war der Hausarzt nicht bereit, sondern verwies auf einen Orthopäden, was mir zu lange gedauert hätte hinsichtl. Termine die erst nach Wochen möglich sind. Also hab ich mich hier umgeschaut. Zunächst für ein kleineres Modell aus Silikon entschieden, aber feststellen müssen, dass man in kürzester Zeit massiv darunter schwitzt, trotz mitgeliefertem Stoffgebilde zum Drunterziehen. Auch schmerzte nach nur 2 Stunden die Grube zwischen Daumen und Handteller, weil das Silikon an dieser Stelle zu breit und zu derb war. Also retour und diese hier bestellt. Schon am nächsten Tag erhalten und seitdem im Dauereinsatz. Trägt natürlich ziemlich auf, aber stützt und schützt auch entsprechend. Für Hausarbeiten muss sie allerdings abgenommen werden, damit sie nicht feucht, und damit gewiss auch bald unansehnlich wird. Alles in allem kann ich sie nur wärmstens empfehlen, und bin froh dass ich sie gekauft habe.

I've had this item for over 6 months and it really works well. I use it for long distance driving when I rest my hand on the steering wheel, this prevents my thumb sitting at a bad angle causing nerve issues.
