I’ve been watching YouTube lectures on the connection between a healthy mouth and a healthy gut. These miswak sticks were recommended, so I decided to give them a try but didn’t know what to expect. They arrived vacuum sealed in heavy plastic totally intact. There were some instructions in English. It said to peel the outer layer, I thought that meant the thin brown outer skin but when I scraped it off with my nail, it began to crumble and I thought at first I got a bad batch…not the case and exactly the opposite. I was doing it wrong. The outer white core has to be removed to expose the inner core where the fibers are that become the brush. The instructions say to chew it which I did but it wasn’t necessary, I could have placed the stick in warm water to cover the end being used and separated it with my fingers. You don’t want to really damage the bristles with too much chewing. I set the stage for what is a somewhat meditative experience using the brush. It smells faintly like horseradish root but has a very slight mild taste to me. I love flavor in my food and was waiting for a “kick” of taste but for me, it was faint. I sit, keep the little cup of water nearby to use to dip and swish the brush in as I work around my teeth. To increase the pleasure of the experience, I put on the full set of solfeggio music for healing (no headphones necessary). I brush lightly from just below the gum line towards the tooth. No vigorous scrubbing back and forth needed for my teeth to feel way cleaner than when a hand held toothbrush was used. I also don’t want to add too much pressure or it could damage my gums. I don’t have inflamed gums but there is recession and this is a two in one process where I’m stimulating my gums and cleaning my teeth. The instructions say each peeled back segment of brush can be used two times which seems extremely conservative. I’m using common sense here. When my teeth don’t feel clean or the bristles are too splayed, I’ll have to cut it off and begin again with a new segment. For that, I ordered a cigar cutter! I found a set of six for around $8 on amazon. My dentin was never pearly white, so I would be surprised if my teeth whiten but that isn’t my expectation. I want better gum and oral health in general. Holding the brush stick is comfortable and enjoyable to me. It isn’t awkward at all using the stick, in fact, I find I can reach certain areas much better. I can’t make claims for the health benefits yet because it’s too early. I’ve only been using it a few days but I can definitely say my teeth are cleaner than they’ve been in a long time.

Highly recommend! I use it everyday as my main toothbrush. It Leaves my teeth and gums feelings fresh. Smell and taste you get used to and slowly lightens the more you use it. Will be a regular customer! P.s Don’t increase the price!!

Interesting way to clean teeth, works very well except on the back teeth as the sticks don't angle properly.
