9'' Car Radio for Subaru Outback Legacy 2015-2022,8 Core 2+32G | Wireless CarPlay Android Auto Head Unit Android Stereo GPS Navigation Touch Screen Upgrade with 4G LTE

Purchased this stereo to replace the OEM one in my 2015 Outback. The installation is simple and easy. Their customer service, Cheney, was good and replied my questions quickly and with details. CarPlay, Steering Wheel controls, Microphone, and FM radio function well. However, there is no AM radio. After contacting Mekede, Cheney sent me a new antenna adaptor. This adaptor did help some. I also found this AM radio issue has been mentioned in other reviewers' comments. I then followed what Trail Jogger's comment by installing a new cable into the 10-pin harness to power the OEM antenna and got a very good result. BTW, to use the OEM USB ports, I also followed Trail Jogger's comment and installed the Car Radio Factory USB Port Retention Cable. The result is good too. Anyway, this is a good head unit.

So far I’m happy with this product. Installation: This unit was mostly straightforward to install using videos and reviews available online. There are a few mistakes that can slow things down. First - be very careful to not strip the bracket screws when removing the starlink black box. The bracket needs to be removed for the box to fit back in. Use the correct size Phillips driver or it will strip the screw head. Second, to use the OEM USB port make sure to order the adaptor mentioned in the other reviews and plug it into the USB2 connector on this head unit (not USB1). Otherwise the connectors are impossible to mess up because they only fit in one place. Whole process took me about 3 hours including research and prep. Performance: so far the head unit seems to be good. It can play 1080p videos from YouTube, access the google play store, and gets great sound quality. The bluetooth wireless airplay sometimes disconnects randomly but is strong most of the time. I’m told the mic quality is not very good on calls. Service: Cheney is very responsive and extremely helpful. I messaged with 2 questions and the team was able to help me fix them within minutes. Overall the product looks good and performs well.

I was afraid of losing functionnalities, but the product works as advertised. The only (very small for me) drawback is the fact that you can't reuse the existing USB port without buying an adapter. On my non premium Outback 2015 I only had to plug a few cables, and everything worked perfectly. Android Auto sometimes has troubles communicating wirelessly with my Android cell phone, but it is quite a common issue. The screen is sharp and the system is responsive enough. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase.

Love the head unit. A little modification required, super easy to install yourself. Amazing customer service, super easy to deal with.

I have the harmon and karmon system in my 2016 outback. I bought the 35$ harness and we could not get the wheel controls to map at all. **FIXED** White 8 pin wasn't plugged in - did this with some other settings and the unit is working great. Thanks Cheney!
