Mushrooms of the Northeast: A Simple Guide to Common Mushrooms (Mushroom Guides)

I'm new to mushrooming. This book has been helpful. It has excellent pictures. It covers the edible mushrooms of the northeast US and common toxic ones to avoid. It's not a complete reference book. It doesn't have all the mushrooms that I have encountered. However it seems very good as a small carry-along book when out foraging for edible mushrooms.

The media could not be loaded.  This book is gorgeous. It is simple but informative easy to use by mushroom category it's color coded. So if I'm look at a mushroom on a tree I likely just have to look in the shelf mushroom section. (It breaks it up by pored or gilled) the beginning has an edible mushroom sectionAnd small enough to carry around. I love it.

This is a well organized book that is small enough that I can tuck it in my pocket when I am out foraging or walking in the woods. I use it all the time and gifted a copy to a new forager for a Christmas gift too.

Basic facts & easy to find info. Small size is handy.

A great book for a great price and a must have. The book arrived quickly and in minimal packaging. This book is a must have for northeastern mushroom hunting. Excellent diagrams and great pictures to help you identify all the mushrooms you run into. If you go out foraging than this book should be in your pocket or car, it will help you learn about the mushrooms you want to eat and the one you should stay away from.

Lovely photos and well organized for the field, where spore prints are not available on the spot.

A very nice little pocket guide for beginners. I wish it had a little more information....Great place to start but you will need a more comprehensive guide in the future...Beautifully illustrated...Nice color coded key that separates types as well as edible verses inedible or poisonous...

My husband is a fervent mushroomer, and he is thrilled with this book--the pocket size makes it the perfect companion to carry into the woods. The information is presented in a easy to access way, from Choice mushrooms to poison. It has nice, durable pages and lots of excellent colour photos. If you like mushrooms and want to know more about them, buy this little book which is big on information!

this is a great reference book of mushrooms.

Nice photos, easy to carry. Best for novice, I use a field book for kids.
