Bought it for my wife and she loved it. It is purple but also has a pink sheen when moved. Built very well and looks great. Made a nice gift I think. Good quality.

I ordered the top water rod and feels great so far! It has good flex, but not too much. Having too much flex on a top water rod prevents a good hook set, especially if you fish with frogs like I do. The color is amazing too! Depending on the angle and light, the rod can appear to be different colors. It is comfortable to grip and easy to cast. I generally avoid two piece rods if I can, because I have had issues with them coming apart after the cast. This one feels snug and should not fall apart easily. Overall, nice top water rod!

Rod is very well built with great components. My only issue is it isn’t even close to being a Heavy action. KastKing notoriously has softer than advertised rod flexes and this one is the same. Great rod, but it’s definitely a MH and not a H.

For this price, you are basically paying for fancy looks, and rubber grips. You are not getting good sensitivity and feel….. you are getting very poor sensitivity so you wont feel subtle pickups. Almost all 2 piece rods lose at least some sensitivity…..it just makes sense, if theres a joint in the rod, you lose feel from the tiny gap….except for the ones that come apart right at the handle. But this kind, you lose it. Then of course the grips….dont get me started on those. I used to think rubber grips were awesome, until I actually used one next to a rod with cork. Rubber grips may last longer, im not denying that, but they get grime buildup over time, they feel sticky and nasty, etc. But most importantly….. rubber grips dull sensitivity. They absorb shock, they do not transmit or intensify feel, they dull it out. I mean if you are holding the reel itself and have a finger or two on the blank under it, you might be fine. But add rubber grips on to a rod that comes in half….. you get better feel through a freakin pine branch with a line tied to it. For this price, or close to this price, you can get a much better 1 piece rod. I get it, some people need 2 piece rods to travel with or store, whatever. But ask any serious angler or tourney angler; they not gonna use a 2 piece rod. You can get better rods for similar prices from phenix, lews, daiwa, even kastking has better offerings. Dont fall for the pretty “grape ape” color line of this, its not a great rod.
