Outstanding phone, but expect a few hiccups along the way.
WARNING: I switched from Verizon to AT&T so I could use this phone. If you are activating new service with a new GSM SIM in the USA you will have some problems getting data to work.I have spent the past two days on the phone with them and the temporary fix is diving into the APN settings and changing nxtgenphone to phone so you can revert to edge and 3G. LTE is not going to work until you elevate your tech support to the highest tier and they manually add your IMEI to their database. This takes 3 business days, so I am going to be without high speed data for about a week.My T Mobile SIM that was already activated with another device picked 4G immediately. Also if you want updates, go to the update page in settings and hit the 3 dots in the top right. Then select download latest full package. It might get you EMUI 9, or at the very least you will get the Google Security updates. The European charger I was sent with the adapter did not supercharge my device.Edit: Amazon refunded the price of the official USA Huawei charger and I just received it. Works perfectly. Charging speeds are unreal.Very disappointing that I had to deal with that though with a brand new device that doesn't have a warranty.Review: I did a ton of research and was so excited to replace my S9+ with this phone. The camera is truly outstanding and it has amazing specs on paper. However Supercharging was a big selling point for me and the adapter the seller included won't allow the phone to Supercharge.I also can't download many of my apps from the Google Play store. It flat out can't even find Amazon which is a deal breaker for me.Edit: after a few restarts and some tinkering I was able to find the apps I wanted again. The camera is amazing and the photographs are incredible even with poor lighting and overcast weather. Indoor outdoor.. it doesn't matter. Truly an excellent shooter. No stabilization in 4k, but 1080 is all I need, especially with a phone that has non expandable memory.Battery life... Let's just say I am a power user. I had windows phones before the first iPhone was released. I have had every single generation of iPhone as well as 8 different Android devices. I burn through tons of data every month and my phone's get an obscene amount of screen on time. This is the first phone EVER to last an entire day of use without needing a charge. To say I am impressed is an understatement. The UI takes some getting used to and I am taking a few days to settle in. EMUI is packed with a ton of great features.Slightly disappointed that the last update shown is from July 2018 and it won't allow me to download EMUI 9 without involving a computer or complicated workarounds involving apps and tweaking your WiFi router. Then again, I knew getting a banned device in the USA would probably mean things would not be perfect.Switching from an S9+ made a few things stand out like how smooth the P20 Pro is but I also keep hitting my volume up button instead of power because I'm still used to the Samsung button layout. I am getting over DOUBLE the screen on and streaming time I had on the S9+ with the Huawei. Pictures were often blurry with the Samsung because my kids run around non stop. The P20 Pro never missed a moment of action and produces clear although oversaturated photos.

MORE than Wonderful
One of my good friends is Chinese and he came back from his homeland a couple of years back with the new P10 Porsche Midnight Edition (Gorgeous!!!). He told me that it was the Chinese version of the IPhone, but informed me that I could only get it in China. Years past and he kept encouraging me to get a Huawei, as my phone was slowly fading out. OK inhale and I will tell you the phone I had. Samsung Galaxy III -collective exhale/gasp ☺. I kept watching the price and finally got my P20 Pro (Twilight) in December '18 and it was the best investment. I cannot even say enough; the whole experience is amazing. So yea, major upgrade for me and the phone itself is not only extremely functional, but gorgeous. Not a day goes by that someone asks me what kind of phone is it/where did I get it. My friend is pretty proud of me too; did not think I was really listening to him. Now my photos are phenomenal, I can go two days (three if I work it right) w/o charging, and sound crisp and clear when having conversations. My service provider is AT&T; they were pretty seamless in getting the phone set up here in the U.S. Because I am not as tech savvy as most of my friends, I ran into some challenges getting my contacts/photos transferred over, but I did eventually. Have heard lots of rumblings about not buying the P20 Pro, as the P30 is to be released soon. Listen, it depends on your own financial situation. Personally, I was not willing to pay $1K+ for a phone. From the little I know, from the P10 Pro up...you cannot lose purchasing a Huawei. I am a quality over quantity man and this is definitely a high quality phone....hope this helps somebody.

Absolutely fantastic phone with a mind-blowing camera array
Honestly, this is more of a 4.5-star review, but I will keep it at 4 stars because the realities of using it in the US can't be denied. First, the good: the camera is utterly, jaw-droppingly spectacular, the hardware is powerful, it has battery life for days (literally), and the fit and finish is top-notch. I really can't say enough about the phone and the experience using it. It is by far the best phone I've ever owned or even used. That said, it is important to note that, because of whatever trumped up (pun intended) issues the US government has with Huawei, the only option to purchase this phone in the United States is an international version. The net result is that, at least in my case, the Huawei ID and all functions associated with it are unusable. Cloud, find my phone, etc. Not a deal-breaker by any means -- especially since Google provides the same functionality and more -- but a bummer nonetheless. Also, there is no warranty coverage which is a risk.Otherwise, the only disappointments I have with the phone itself are a lack of wireless charging and lack of Band 71 support. Even still, it is well worth using despite these minor inconveniences. Here are a few photos from in and around Boston, MA that show off just how good this phone's camera system really is. Good, good stuff.

Superb camera system and excellent call quality
I had see many reviews of this phone and was intrigued, even by those that seemed to support the features of other brands. One theme that resonated is that the camera(s) and the ability to take stunning photographs with this product are exceptional. After 2 weeks of constant use, I would say that there are some features of this phone that are similar to the iPhone X or Samsung Galaxy 9, but I did not find anything that was not as good. I would also say that the camera reviews were accurate. I have several phones that are excellent at photography but the Huawei P20 is even better. The quality of the photo and the flexibility while take the picture are superb. I would recommend this phone without reservation. By the way, it is also the best phone for actually making phone calls!
