Great solar security camera, easy setup
Really impressed with this camera. Setup through the Tapo app was quick and straightforward, and the picture quality is clear with good motion detection. The solar panel keeps the battery topped up so you don’t need to worry about charging it. Notifications come through quickly and the night vision works well too. Great option if you want a simple wireless security camera without running power cables.

Very good.
I've had this for a good while. Probably more than a year. It has worked this whole time. I have it situated about 40 meters from my house at the end of the garden. No issues with Wi-Fi at all. The battery is always over 95%. The picture is good and the sensitivity is fine.

Impressive Camera but could be better integrated with Google Home
This camera with solar panel delivers excellent performance for the price. Installation and Setup is straightforward, requiring minimal technical expertise. The included solar panel keeps it juiced up and keeps the camera running, . The camera's motion tracking feature is good, effectively following detected movement. Image capture is sharp and clear, both during daylight and in low-light conditions. I would have loved better integration with Google home, at the moment you have to launch the tapo app, for full feature. But I am hoping this is fixed in a firmware update. Overall, this camera offers impressive functionality and value, making it a highly recommended choice for home security.

Excellent little outdoor cameras
Great little out door security cameras. Ended up with 2 + the tapo 200 Hub. Even on a dedicated 2.4ghz wifi I was having issues with them staying connected. Set ip through the camera and the router + made sure they were in high performance and mostly fixed it. But ended up with the hub for a internal doorbell chime Video quality is good. Good detection range. They say 90 days battery life. I'm probably around half that. Did a full charge before putting it out. Got to 18% after 47 days. It is in high performance mode with long clips enabled. It does go off quite a lot. I am not sure if the hub gives it any better battery but the connection is definitely superior It has also been very cold and it was covered in snow so can't fault it. I like the tapo stuff also have smart plugs door bell and internal cameras. Good brand. Seems all good so far! Plus renting so cannot run any cables

After 2 weeks this is a really poor product... useless solar panels.
I bought two of those cameras to check my driveway and my backyard just because i had children jumping the fence in the past, damage my cars and so on. I am impressed by the quality and features of those cameras. Especially considering how cheap they are and easy to mount. Privacy zones are great if neighbours ever complain about it i can turn them on. Also the adjustment of sensitivity and detection zones greatly improve the battery life as without changing the default settings i would get detections all the time especially in the driveway. This is not recording continously and i don't need it to. It's great when used with cloud service and i think i will pay for it, at least for the camera that's outside. I did add 128GB sd cards to the cameras just in case i need them. To format greater than 32GB storage to FAT32 use rufus.exe download it from the official website and then select the sd card and format it as non bootable Large FAT32. When you will insert the sd card in the cameras it will say its not properly formatted just press initialize and it will work. My only complain to those cameras are battery life. I installed them while on and the driveway one had a few detections that i didn't care for.. the battery is already down to 96% in 12 hours so i don't expect it to last as advertised unless there are no detections (there will be) However i expect the solar panels to help a bit as i do get a bit of sun in the last part of the day. If not, the driveway one has a very long type c usb cable, i can just unplug it from the solar panel and plug it in my portable battery which is really fast at charging. So no issues there. Happy so far i don't think i need anything more than this. But if i ever need serious surveillance i would go wired Also the wifi signal is surprisingly strong. I expected to need a wifi booster or something. There is some slight delay in relaying the live feed especially to the one that's in the driveway as it has 2 lines of signal instead of 3. Edit: really bad product overall, first of all the solar panels are useless, don't charge at all even if i get 3-4 hours of direct sunlight. The motion detection is horrible. It goes all over the place it does detect stuff that is too far away or doesn't detect movements close by.... regardless of the sensitivity setting. The zones that you can setup do not work at all, it constantly detects my neighbours outside those zones and give me false alarms..... Car detection is useless as it constantly pings you that your own car is in the driveway. Not happy with it, not recommending. I would return this if i wouldn't be so busy and if i could have the boxes in good condition plus all the bits and pieces. I already drilled holes in my walls and fitted everything. I would have to go and borrow the ladder again and do all that hassle. I wish i would've listened to others and just install some wired high quality cameras. Edit2: the driveway camera completely disconnected from the app without me doing anything and it doesn't work anymore. I am abroad at the moment. My brother in law checked on it and i told him to get close to check if the green LED for detection lights up. Apparently that green LED doesn't so the camera does not work at all, doesn't even record on sd card if not connected. It is possible it broke down already...... i am not sure what happened. To remove the camera myself i have to confirm doing so. I am 100% i didn't remove it....

Good picture, good battery life, easy to install.
Security cameras are a really useful and relatively cost effective investment for any home. The provide peace of mind when you are away and keep a beady eye on things for you. Unfortunately, they can be a pain to set up. We have several dotted around the house and outside but, up until this purchase, they have all been mains wired and a little tricky to position. I held off buying a battery powered camera due to fears about battery life, but there was really no other option in the location I wanted a camera, so I went for this Tapo TC82 with solar panel charger. After unpacking everything, it was a pretty speedy setup. Charge the battery to full, fix the camera in place, connect the solar panel, connect the camera to the home WiFi via the excellent Tap app. Battery charging aside, installation took around an hour. Picture quality is very good, motion detection is also good, although it doesn't detect beyond around 25m. That might be because the motion is directly towards the camera. I think if it had been 90 degrees to the camera, motion detection would have been a little further. Battery life has been good so far. Camera has been in operation for almost a month and the battery was at 98% when I installed it. It is now at 91% and that is with the solar panel facing NW in January! I think, as Spring arrives and the sun rises higher in the sky, the battery will be able to charge to 100%. I will, hopefully, update the review accordingly. Overall, very happy with it so far - I think that I am only going to use battery powered cameras going forward. Maybe if I need a motorised camera I will have to opt for mains power but the field of view on this is so wide that constant adjustment isn't really needed. The price point is also good, and none of the other Tapo devices we have around the house has let us down yet - it seems a very good brand and excellent value for money. Highly recommended. UPDATE: two months in, Mid March now, and battery is holding at 90%. Solar panel still facing NW with no direct sunlight as yet. Camera working beautifully.

Excellent Outdoor Camera – Highly Recommended!
Why did you choose this product over others?: I’ve been using the Tapo TC82 2K 3MP Battery Solar Security Camera for a few weeks now, and I’m genuinely impressed! Here’s why I think it’s a fantastic addition to any home security setup: 1. Crystal-clear 2K Resolution The image quality is phenomenal. The 3MP resolution provides sharp, clear video that makes it easy to spot details like faces, car plates, or other important things in the footage. The color night vision is a game-changer for nighttime security, making it feel like it’s still daylight even in the dark! 2. Solar-powered & Maintenance-free I love that the camera is completely powered by solar energy. No more worrying about changing batteries or running wires. It’s super convenient and environmentally friendly! Plus, it really works as advertised—no maintenance needed. 3. Smart Person Detection The smart person detection is a standout feature. It accurately detects people and sends alerts right to my phone, minimizing unnecessary notifications from pets or other movement. The system helps me stay on top of important activity around my property without the hassle of constant false alarms. 4. Easy Setup & Integration with Alexa & Google Setting up the camera was a breeze. The Tapo app is user-friendly, and the integration with Alexa and Google Assistant means I can check the camera feed with simple voice commands. Very convenient for checking on things without even needing to pull out my phone! 5. Durable & Weather-resistant With an IP65 rating, this camera has withstood all kinds of weather—rain, wind, and sun—without any issues. It feels built to last, even through tough outdoor conditions. 6. No Monthly Fee Another great feature is that there are no monthly fees for cloud storage. I can record and store footage locally on an SD card, which is a huge bonus compared to other security cameras that make you pay for a subscription. In summary: The Tapo TC82 2K Security Camera offers amazing value for money. Whether you’re looking to enhance your home security or just want to keep an eye on things outside, this camera checks all the boxes: excellent video quality, reliable person detection, solar-powered, easy setup, and free storage. Highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a dependable, low-maintenance outdoor camera.

Choose a different model
This camera with its solar panel was easy to install, if you have a ladder or easy access to where you where you would like it placed. The image quality is as expected with a couple of operation modes, unfortunately there are a few issues with this model (Tapo TC82). For reasons unknown the colour night vision occasionally turns to standard black and white, along with the solar panels inability to keep the battery charged when there is a lot of activity in the area covered by the camera, which can lead to loss of coverage during the early hours. Also, this model has a tendency to disconnect itself from the wireless network, which means if you follow the operational instruction, means you would have to get the ladder out and turn it off and on again. This I found to be completely ridiculous, having to get the ladder out every time, I'd just as well stay up there and keep watch myself. I did however find a solution within the instructions, which was to turn my router off and on again, which in doing so interrupts all of my other wireless products, not to mention everyone in the house saying "I got no internet, I need it, can you fix it", and that’s the polite version, but it does beat getting the ladder out 3 or 4 times a week. I expected a much better product from TP-LINK, as I have a number of products from this manufacture and they have and continue to operate without any issues. My person opinion is to forget about this model and purchase a different one, so disappointed with the Tapo TC82.

Highly recommend
Excellent product, love how easy it is to relocate the solar panel anyway with the supplied 4m cable, unlike some brands who charge you for extension cable. The app is very easy to navigate and works great with a micro sd card saving you on buying subscription like some other brands. Excellent product and highly recommend

Cámara TAPO. TC82 Buen matetial
