If your puppy has soft matting prone fur, water based sprays will ruin it, so this is what you should use, speaking from experience.This is how I use it:My toy poodle puppy is 3-4 months old and still has the cotton like soft wavy puppy fur instead of the dense curly adult hair coat that poodles get after 6-7 months, and if you are in a similar boat, do what I did.Take a small pea sized blob, maybe even less than that (half a pea size), it might seem too little but trust me, it is more than enough. As it is oil based, applying too much on soft light fur will make things worse, and make the coat heavy and sticky.Rub the product on your palms and your fingers thoroughly. You will notice that the product disappears, it’s fine, that is what we want. Now you can rub it on the fur of your puppy. Rub it thoroughly on the body, on and behind the ears, face, legs, hips and tail.After that, start by brushing superficially with a fine comb to puff up and de tangle the upper ends of the hair.Next, you need to go deep and comb sections of hair upwards from root to tip and make sure you pull very slowly. Do it once all over the body.Once you have separated each hair strand by deep combing the fur once, now you can freely comb the hair and this is where the product will shine. Now you will be able to comb the fur like silk.Other alternatives are silicone based sprays like Ice on Ice by Chris Christensen, or “The Stuff” conditioner. They are used by professional competition dog groomer and if you travel abroad and get your hands on them there, you can find them at decent price as importers sell them for absurdly high price in India.

The product is nice and very good for regular grooming purpose. But, I am only giving it 3-star because it did not serve the prupose of entanglement of fur behind the ears. However, the smell is nice and am going to use it regularly to prevent further tangle of fur.
