Another delightful entry in the Custard Protocol series.
Carriger is, hands down, one of my favorite steam-punk writers. She's also right up there when writing about the supernaturals: vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and the like. Her characters, once one suspends disbelief about their oddities, are believable and fun to read about. The Custard Protocol is the connective tissue between various women who attended the same school, and generally run in the same "set". I recommend them to tweens/teens who enjoy Georgette Heyer and/or Barbara Cartland. Sex rears its ugly head, so to speak, and it's all off-stage [almost all, anyway].

A delight as always
Ms. Carrigerโs books are always so delightful, and this is no exception. Wonderful characters, sly humor, a bit of romance, and exciting adventures abound. This book is not to be missed, and neither are the others. Iโll end here, because the story is fantastic, and you really ought to be reading all her books, not my reviews.

Lost and Found
Prudence has reached her majority, 21 years old, and her world is about to go topsy turvy. The Queen of England is angry with her. Her father is well into Alpha's madness, and her pack has turned on her. Her adopted vampire father is the only one still there for her. Only Rue has to leave London, and feels utterly lost. This is a journey of letting go and finding herself. She thought she was independent, but now she really must let go of her childhood, and step up as a true leader of her dirigible crew. Someone is chasing the dirigible, hired gangs involved, and the suspects are numerous. Rue has a new species of supernatural to protect while fighting bad guys and trying to keep her good friends from fighting among themselves. Rue is also exploring her own sensuality with her first romance, which seems to have way more downs than ups. There is a lot going on in this book, just the way I like my books to be. Great story. Awesome characters.

Supernatural but fun!
I am loving this series. It is so good the way that the author continues story lines from her first series and brings back old favourite characters. In Imprudence we meet Biffy again in very different circumstances than before and later on Floote reappears. I always had a soft spot for him and things were arranged so that he has a future in the books as well.Of course Alexia, Conall and Dama were there, but the main characters are now Rue, Prim and Percy with their friends and subordinates Quesnel, Tasherit, Spoo, Virgil and even the aggressive Aggie. I do feel a bit sorry for Rue as no one ever seems to tell her anything. Nevertheless she manages to always come out on top despite some very close shaves. So, two books in and I still have two to go. Can't wait!

The usual great combination of high adventure
For Gail Garriger, the usual great combination of high adventure, the usual eccentrics, wer-cats .humor and steam punk. Prudence, the metanatural, who can touch any supernatural creature and change into them, takes her wer-wolf father to Egypt where he can live out a happy mortal life rather than an mad immortal life. In addition, she searches for the source of the wer-cats. The problem also arises who is stalking her giant airship, and why. Gail is very good at making her every day universe consistent. I confess her world is not a totally consistent about history or totally accurate with regard to technology. But, what the hell, it's better than most steam punk works. In any case, whatever it's shortcomings, it has to be forgiven as a humorous send up.

Better than Prudence!
I liked Imprudence much more than Prudence, actually. I have not rated Prudence but I would have given that 4 stars compared to this one. Both books were more suspenseful than her previous novels in my opinion and loaded with action. The second book reintroduces a character not heard from in awhile and I was very excited to hear that and it SEEMS like we may be seeing more of said character, maybe? I just hope Gail never burns out, I don't know what I would do without my "fixes". And yes, I am a fan and may be biased... but her writing is so fluid, if you have not tried one of her books, I would recommend going back to the start and pick up the first Parasol Protectorate or the first Finishing School book and give it a try.

Yah Rue!
This 2nd instalment of rue and her crew is a nice little meander through the parasol protectorate universe. Compelling writing, with some laugh of loud moments and lots of snorts and giggles. I will admit to preferring the adventures of her mother to Prudence, but Rue, Prim, Percy, Quensel, and the others make for good escapism and a nice tight story. Unexpected ending, but leaves the door open for more adventures. For me the best bit was the academic biffs between the boys...very true to life and accurate. In this I am sure Miss Carriger may have been drawing from her previous life. A good read, enjoyable and relaxing.

This book was better than Prudence
This book was better than Prudence, but still not up to the standards I generally expect from Carrier. In all, the world is so amazing & interesting, I felt disappointed that the majority of the plot took place on the airship. Boring.Of all Carriger's work, I find the main characters in this particular series to be just plain boring. They are exactly what you would expect the rich, spoiled children of the most powerful aristocrats & supernaturals in the world to be. Shallow, dull & self-centered. To me, Rue comes off as quite amorphous & a flip-flopper. For someone raised by three eccentric, interesting personalities, she doesn't bring much to the table herself.I spent most of the book looking forward to discovering a certain group of supernaturals and was incredibly disappointed that we barely got to see them at all. I would have rather seen less of Rue's bedroom & more of the interesting world OFF the airship. If we see more of Rue & Co, I hope we also see more of the world & not more of their bickering on the Spotted Custard.

Parasols return to Egypt
The second Prudence book, sees the crew return to London after the discovery of weremonkeys, to find Rue in trouble with Queen Victoria, at her majority and free from parents, however she's also no longer under the queens protection.Dama gifts her a Gatling gun, and they now head to Egypt with her parents to set them up in retirement. But as always, adventures and danger is never far away. For Rue, the adventures are with Quesnel teaching her some "French" lessons, though as normal with these things, neither one tells the other how they feel, just as Prim remains 'prim' with werecat Tasherit. There's romance, danger, fighting, old friends, exploration and much tea-infused humour.I also like that Carriger doesn't ignore the dark side of the British Empire's history and it is keenly felt by a few characters, and she also offers up diverse supporting cast who love who they love with no recriminations from Rue and her crew.In fact, as Lady Captain, the drifters address Rue as 'he' due to the colours she wears and their chosen leader Ay, dresses as male and is treated as such.Carriger used the aesthetic of the period, the steampunk sandbox and a varied bunch of protagonists, offset by moral concerns and acknowledgment of past sins to create a unique world.Brilliant stuff

Excellent sequel to both Prudence and Timeless.
Got up this morning knowing this would be on my kindle, and I had nothing much planned for the whole day - apart from reading. And what a good day it has been. I do think Miss Carriger is getting even better. This book made me laugh - but also brought tears to my eyes in places, especially (spoiler alert)............. the moment when Rue realises she is no longer part of the pack.Interesting, too, the way that this is a sequel to Timeless as well as to Prudence. And tomorrow? I might well just read it all again...

Amazing
Another great book by miss Gail Carridger. I love the build up of characters as each one takes its rightful place aboard the Spotted Custard. How I wish I to could travel with Rue and all her crew making such amazing discoveries. Will Formerly Floote meet up again with Alexia that would be some reunion I'm sure she still has many questions. well I shall have to wait and seeThank you for another great adventure Toni x
