I mainly just got this for the gold leaf paper, and for that I'm happy. This kit comes with a lot of extras that I likely won't use as intended so can't speak to much to their use. I make miniatures and other small items so I don't need special adhesive or a varnish because I already have these on hand. The brushes this comes with are pretty cheap and stiff with uneven ends. I would recommend using other brushes if you have them, or investing in nicer brushes if you're planning to work on a project you care about. This also comes with thin and big plastic gloves that I'll be using for hair dye lol. I would not recommend gold leafing with these gloves as the leafing breaks off pretty easily, as expected, and using these gloves feels like it could get very messy and frustrating, very fast.If you're experimenting with gold leafing, this is a decent basic kit to get you started. If you're more experienced, you probably want to buy these things separately. One last thing to note is the gold leaf is a light gold and not a deep yellow gold. I compared it to some gold leaf detail I used on other projects and there's a definite difference. I will still use the sheets and there's a generous quantity so this works for my needs!

This is because this kit is marketed towards (and priced appropriately for) beginners at this particular craft / art / skill.Stupidly, I thought the gold leaf would really be gold leaf, at this low-end price. It's very obviously NOT. Silly of me to expect otherwise.It does come with quite a lot of "stuff" in this kit...but it's really all just the lowest of the low end and it's too cheap to really use for anything than single use while playing around with this kit.Bottom line: I made nothing of substance/interest, and this was just a big waste of money

The adhesive spreads thinly and becomes tacky quickly, this makes for speedy work.The gold foil is very lightweight (as gold leaf should be) and unglued areas are easily brushed away.The brushes included are very cheap and basic but they serve their purpose.I’m not even bothering with using the gloves. It’s nice that gloves were included, but they are not tight enough to the skin to make handling the foil difficult. I suggest using surgical gloves.As an artist who has had much better quality gold leaf, I would describe this kit as a cheap and easy way to learn to use gold leaf material.Decent results can be achieved with little to no experience.Not bad.

One of the best things I can say about a product such as this is that there were no surprises! I've been using gilding adhesive and metal leaf for years or I might not have been able to say that -- it can be tricky for the novice, but for someone who has used it before I can say that this is exactly what I expected. The leaf is easy to use and adheres nicely. I would definitely order it again.

Let's be clear - this is an inexpensive starter kit, for basic crafting and hobby pursuits. There is nothing in this kit that is high quality. The brushes are cheap art brushes. The 'gold' foil is surely not real gold (I can't confirm), but it is very thin and looks decent, if kind of brassy. Does it work? I haven't had the opportunity to test the application just yet - and probably won't be able to until later this summer. But the kit does include everything it says it includes, and the price is good for a beginner or hobbyist. There's a lot of product so you should be able to complete several projects with this kit. I just wouldn't expect archival, fine-art results. But for fun accents on amateur artwork, for costume accessories or for home decor, I'm sure it will work fine. But the brushes really are awful - try to use something else.
