The Shack

I did not enjoy this book, but gave it an honest try.If you are a true believe in blind faith, perhaps this story and dialogue will make sense in some way.The dialog meant as an explanation to the story line left my mind spinning, and not in a good way.There were some good things said in review from "The Great American Read" series, so I gave it a try.I could not finish this book, but I did make it about 80%through it before I abandoned ship.Sorry...not for me!

Living through 70 years reading about and different doctrines (of Christianity) I was continually challenged by some of the teachings as well as having other 'life' problems I found disheartening.… After reading "The Shack" I no longer have the anguish, guilt, frustration, angers, (and other negative thoughts/emotions)…. Please understand - I still have the same problems ~ just a much deeper peace with myself.Read the book and find out for yourself. ~ I read then entire book in 1 day … except for the last 20 pages. You will understand 'why' when you read the book. … it bought happy tears to my being.I re-read the book yearly and pages (starting about #67) through the weekend. It helps me as a refresher.

Expect your life to change. It is taking me a long time to get through this book. there is much to be learned and I am letting God take me where He wants me to go through this book. Keep your Kleenex handy.

Amazing that this book was mentioned during casual conversation and sparked some interest so I purchased one. It sat for a few weeks before I picked it up and started. Some serious difficulty came into my immediate family of in-laws during the time I was about half way through the book. Absolutely amazing how the book's story came to me at just the right time in my life.I would highly recommend this reading a couple chapters at a time for anyone in difference to where they my be on their journey through life.

While this book was amazing, I think readers will come up with different ways of viewing the account of what happens to Mack. After his daughter Missy is abducted while he is saving his other children from a lake mishap, Mack goes into deep depression and the family while they try to stay together find it very hard to cope with their loss.So while his family is away, Mack returns to the scene of the abduction after receiving a note telling him to return to the shack. And there begins the journey of healing. At first I thought it was fantasy, or maybe a dream....but the more I read the more I realized that this was a healing - via a faith in something more powerful than us, no matter what your beliefs are.

This is advertised as a hardcover book and it's not. It's the same soft cover. I bought two, a hard cover for $21+ and a soft cover for $6 and they both came and they both look the same. Either I want my money back or the hard cover I'm promised for the money I paid. Wouldn't you? I'm sure this is just a big mistake.

This book is a definite read for everyone, no matter your spiritual beliefs. Take time to read it ~ although it is an easy read ~ and allow it to change your outlook. The book is absolutely excellent! (But the vendor who supplied it was most disappointing! It took 3 weeks to receive it in an plastic envelope in the mail. Absolutely no reason for that delay.)

I used it for a gift, having read it several times myself!
