Impressive
Really impressive. I've been able to pick shavings off of my steel wool covered body parts. Works super well. Also cleaned the floors with it once and found a surprising amount of tiny metal shavings!

The ULIBERMAGNET: My Garage Floor is No Match for This Magnetic Marvel! pen_spark
Let's be honest, garages: they're the Bermuda Triangle of hardware. Screws vanish into the abyss, wrenches take a permanent vacation behind the toolbox, and don't even get me started on the rogue washers that seem to multiply like rabbits. For years, my garage floor looked like it had swallowed a hardware store, and my attempts to retrieve lost treasures were about as successful as finding a mint-condition baseball card in a pack of bubblegum wrappers. Then, the ULIBERMAGNET rolled into my life (well, more like I picked it up with its awesome magnetic pull). This ain't your grandpappy's telescoping magnet, folks. This is a magnetic beast with 8,000 gauss of neodymium fury. Think of it as the Hulk of magnetic pickup tools – it smashes through metal debris with the grace of a ballerina and the strength of a grizzly bear. Lost Washer? Not Anymore, Buddy! Those once-vanquished nuts, bolts, and washers? Trembling in fear under the ULIBERMAGNET's gaze. A quick sweep across the floor and – wham! – they're clinging to the magnet like metal filings to a giant magnet. No more crawling around on my hands and knees, praying to the garage gods for a miracle. The ULIBERMAGNET is my miracle worker, snatching up stray hardware faster than you can say "oil change." Release the Hardware Kraken! But the ULIBERMAGNET isn't just a magnet with a superiority complex. This bad boy boasts a release handle that works like a charm. By sliding the handle rearward, the captured tool your trying to retrieve falls away, ready to be reunited with its rightful place in my toolbox. It's so satisfying, it almost makes cleaning the garage fun (almost). The Verdict: From Garage Chaos to Gear-tastic Glory If you're tired of wrestling with a floor that swallows tools whole, the ULIBERMAGNET is your knight in shining armor (or, well, in bright silver with a comfortable grip). It's more than just a tool, it's a gateway to a tidier garage and a newfound sense of mechanical mastery. Just don't be surprised if you find yourself triumphantly raising the ULIBERMAGNET after a particularly fruitful retrieval mission and yelling, "Victory for the garage!" Hey, we all have our ways of celebrating. I definitely recommend it.

Works as expected, good or bad depending on situation.... Useful Tool
In a quick test, it did a mostly good job of picking up steel sawdust from a cutting job I had just done, as well as whatever may have been around the vice and acorn table already. It did have a problem to some degree of magnetizing the vice and it's mounting plate so the filings stuck to it as well. The wand also wanted to stick to the steel vice / mounting plate / acorn table, and was hard to pull off - as expected from any strong magnet. It did a good job of cleaning the cutting debris from my clothes as well, although it seemed to need multiple passes as the dust only stuck to the rod in 4 narrow bands (magnetic poles) and once they got to a certain fullness, it would brush back off as much as it picked up. However this wasn't a big problem as the wand is easy to clean... It did at least as good as a shop-vac on the same task. When cleaning, you pull the rod, and the debris follows the magnets up until it hits the plastic ring. It falls off (giving the rod a gentle hit on the edge of the trashcan helps knock it off) as the magnets go past the ring.... SOME of it may hop over the ring and stick to the tube on the other side, but this will fall off when you push the rod back in.... I also picked up some of the parts I'd cut which had fallen on the floor, no problem though not as precise as a pickup magnet stick (they want to stick to the sides of the wand, not the end) but it can be a bit of a challenge to get the parts off w/o any other debris that got picked up along with them.... In summary it is a very strong magnet in a relatively easy to use configuration, and it acts as one would expect a strong magnet to, which has pluses and minuses. It is a useful tool.

An excellent, well made magnetic pickup tool
This magnetic pickup tool (ULiberMagnet) is extremely well made from what I can tell. The main shaft is made of polished metal that I assume is aluminum. It appears that the handle is metal as well, but covered in a nice grippy rubber that feels great to hold. There is a large magnet, or series of magnets connected to a rod that is inside the polished metal tube. This rod is the same rod in which the red ball is attached and pulling this rod moves the magnets down toward the handle and past a plastic ring on the outside of the polished metal tube. The plastic ring acts as a sort of scraper for any metal attached to the top part of the tool, and once you want to release the metal from the powerful magnets, you simply pull the red ball-handle which moves the magnets down past the plastic scraper and ultimately releases any metal. A simple, yet very effective method of releasing any collected metal. The magnetic tool really does seem to be made well too. This thing could realistically be used as a self-defense device, not unlike a compact baseball bat.The magnetic pickup tool is a great addition around my house and I absolutely recommend it.

Very strong magnetic wand with helpful release rod.
BEST THING ABOUT IT: very strong ADDITIONAL LIKES: effective release mechanism WORST THING ABOUT IT: oddly shaped ADDITIONAL DISLIKES/CONCERNS: takes some effort to hold it away from other objects when trying to suppress the release rod WARRANTY: COMMENTS (Function, Appearance, Quality): I confess I had to look up the gauss scale. It was surprising to find out that an 8,000 gauss earth magnet has 16,000 times the earth’s gravitational pull. Not sure how that translates into all things magnetic, but I do understand that this magnet is strong. So far, I have a block magnet and two ‘magnets on a stick’ for cleaning up around the shop. They work fine for sweeping the floor or ground for stray screws, but are hard to use on the bench of equipment. I like that this magnet has a release handle. The ease of use of this release varies inversely with the load the magnet has attracted. I don’t know if it is truly 16K times the earth’s gravitational pull per volume, but it is very magnetic, even with the 1/4” cardboard sleeve attached. I hang it on a metal bench leg using the cardboard sleeve to facilitate its removal. It is solidly built and the release works to cause most adhered metal items/fragments to drop. A few usually have to be picked off individually, most jumping back on the magnet above the plastic ring. I intend to use it to keep metal shavings off my drill press table and out of my fingers as splinters. Its cylindrical shape allows it to be swept above a surface like a wand and it is strong enough to pull the shavings to it. It is also magnetized at the tip, but it is challenging not to have it attach to a side wall of other metal object when trying to use the tip of the rod. Does a great job of separating metals from sawdust. MARKETING vs REALITY GRADE: B MOST SUITABLE FOR: metal shop IS IT WORTH IT?: While it is impressively magnetic, I don’t feel it is worth the ~$66 for the average Joe. However, for those who make their living working with, cutting or drilling metals, I believe it is justified. *PRECISE RATING: 4 (deduction due to price) RECOMMENDATION: If you have need for separating metal fragments or smaller items of metal from other substances, or if you frequently need to clean up metal shaving, I can definitely recommend this item. (As always, I will report back if there are any durability issues with additional use.) PHOTO INFO (photos are loaded in order, but may be rearranged when finally posted):definitely 1) Pile of screws 2) Attraction through 1/4” cardboard sleeve 3) Screws after running wand over area (1-2” above) 4) Rod/screws after pulling up release rod (some may jump back on) 5) Storing rod when not in use On a personal note, I try to cover everything I think one might like to know about each product, especially something not covered in the listing. So, I hope you found something informative and useful in this review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. Good luck with your decision. *Rating scale: 5 = definitely buy again, happy to have it (exceptional in several characteristics,) 4 = probably buy again (decent job of doing what I need, excels in one or two characteristics) 3 = perhaps buy again after researching options (functions OK, looks OK, decent quality, average life expectancy but no outstanding characteristics) (in other words, average) 2 = would not buy again (low end/below average merchandise and/or service, but not totally worthless) 1 = sorry I bought it the first time (poor performance in several characteristics, no redeeming characteristics)

Awesome Magnet For A Workshop
Been having too much fun with this magnet. I mostly like the feature that removes all the metal; see, you pull back the knob and it pulls out the magnet and then all the metals hit the rubber stop-aid and some fall off, the others you’ll have to knock or pull off. One minor setback: after a ton of uses, the knob gets harder and harder to pull back almost like the mechanism inside is giving up .
