Walt Disney Animated Anthology - The Classic DVD Collector's Set (Pinocchio/101 Dalmatians/Mulan/Hercules/Peter Pan/The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride/Lady & The Tramp/The Jungle Book/The Little Mermaid)

Most people have in the past & continue to buy theses movies on VHS. Be glad that they are now available on DVD. The movies were never intended to have all that extra stuff. If you want the extras write to Disney & request them. If you work out the cost for this 9 DVD Collection it comes out to less money for each. That's a lot less than the VHS copies. I have ordered this & will continue to purchase as many of the classic Disney DVD they release, especially Collector's editions like this one.

After Glancing through some of these disappointing reviews i feel compelled to set the record straight about this box set. The Walt Disney Animated Anthology-The Classic DVD Collectors Set Box Set came out in 1999 [ i believe] at that time DVD was a new medium , these 9 films are what started Disney's jump on the dvd bandwagon. These films could be purchased seperately or in this Box Set [ i believe these Box Sets are Numbered , mine is ] at the time, these films were not available on dvd only Videocassette. Since the medium was still new, these dvd's had no extra features such as Games, commentary, or movie trailers [only a film recomendation page that showed a picture of these 9 films was offered]This box Set was unique in that it had a good mix of the old classics and the Modern classics. Since, this Box Set came out, some of these films have been released on dvd 2 to 3 times [ Mulan, Lady and the Tramp, The Jungle Book ,The Little Mermaid to name a few ] I gave this Box Set 5 stars , because at the time it was released, it deserved 5 stars [ as nothing else was available] For the ordinary person hoping to start their collection, i would bypass this Box Set [ it's Too Expensive , for no Frills ] it would be cheaper to buy these films by their latest releases. [ some are even on A Blu-Ray / DVd combo pack] This Box Set is for the Hardcore Disney Fan who has to have the" Very First Set of Disney Animated Classics that were made on DVD" Hope this helps. LA.

O.K., having The Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book, Pinocchio, Mulan, Lady & the Tramp, 101 Dalmetians and Peter Pan is Great. But do you think Hercules and The Lion King 2 match these classics? I don't think so! Moreover, the lack of extra features should not be a Disney standard. After all, everybody was waiting for these animated pictures in dvd format. That said, the picture quality of the discs is very good and the sound corresponds to the period in which the movies were done. Now we are all waiting for colection #2 which should include Toy story, A Bug's Life, Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan, Pocahontas, Snow White, Cinderella & Sleeping Beauty !

I bought this collection knowing that I would get two additional "free" Disney DVD's. Well, now that I have the DVD's, I find out that I have to cut the proof of purchase FROM THE COVER to get these freebies! Sure it's the back cover, but what kind of collectible has pieces scissored out of it? Disney KNEW that FEW collectors would redeem this. What a crock!

It's OK. There are no extras at theese movies, but my children always skeep it in the VHS, and this DVD has exelente quiality in sound and image, and you have to consider that not all the Disney pictures where edited in Wide format. I think is a very good choice.

I only gave them this “5star” rating so that y’all could read this and understand this is a scam !!!! This is over priced !! Even with all extras included in the DVDs this price should not be that damn high. You can buy these separate online and still be under that price ! Disney not selling this and If they did it wouldn’t be this high. :) Don’t let these fake profiles make y’all buy a scamming purchase.

I ordered the walt disney animated anthology the classic collector's set which was suppose to come with, the little mermaid, hercules, mulan, pinocchio, the jungle book, peter pan, lady and the tramp, the lion king II:simba's pride and one hundred and one dalmations instead we were sent cars, pirates of the caribbean the curse of the black pearl and dead man's chest, the sword in the stone, the rescuers, bedknobs and broomsticks, herbie fully loaded, miracles,and the shaggy dog....very disappointing for the kids christmas morning!

The reason this set is called a collector set is because it is just that.. As the description says.. these are the FIRST films Disney put on DVD.. they are in the original format of their time for the purpose of collecting.. for people interested in seeing how the movies evolved.. for having a piece of Disney history. As for price.. it probably costs Disney way more to produce a "LIMITED EDITION" for those few special people interested in such a collection than it takes to produce these for the masses.. The set is not for the average consumer.. it is excellent for what it represents. Disney's first DVD releases .. just the way they were.. for the collector .. and only a limited few available.
