Not entirely sure of the authenticity but you get what you get for this price. This is intended to be a starter set and I hope I didn't send him to be mocked with unauthentic cards. These are definitely cards but we got a lot of duplicates and some were damaged in the corners. If you're not sure, I would recommend paying more and being confident.

My grandson was a bit confused when I handed him the box. He's a Pokemon collector so I freaked out thinking that I messed up. When I told him it was guaranteed to have a legendary card in it, he was skeptical but looked through the really large deck. I've never seen his eyes light up so bright and big as when he saw that legendary card. He jumped up and had to show all of us before getting on the phone to tell everyone! Although I know absolutely nothing about Pokemon, I'd say these cards are a hit.... At least for 12 year old boys who like to collect the cards. I've always bought the ones in the foil packs so wasn't sure of exactly what these were when I saw them after they arrived. I guess my grandson had only seen the foil packs as well but these are way better. I'm not sure about the assortment... I just saw legendary and had to get these since anything legendary is good as a general rule no matter what it's for. My grandson pretty much dropped everything when he saw the card so I'm not sure if he's even looked at the rest of the cards yet. I do know that it's going to take him forever to sort them and get them into his little folder thing once he gets over the excitement of that one card.

I bought this as a birthday present, hoping it would be a fun surprise—but it was really disappointing. Most of the cards were common duplicates, and only a couple looked remotely “ultra rare.” The quality wasn’t great, and the deck box felt cheap and flimsy. Definitely not what I expected from something labeled as a “legendary” bundle. It ended up being a birthday flop instead of a special gift.
