I just embedded the watering tank into the pot of a newly acquired lemon tree. The tree's roots aren't long enough to reach the bottom of the pot yet, but the tank is clearly keeping soil most at bottom half of the pot because my top watering keeps soil moist for days (and tank has taken a couple of half-gallon refills already). The tank is easy to refill using a funnel with exposed tube. I think once tree is better established I won't have to top water very often. Note: it was hard to compress expandable tank into a 15" diameter pot, so won't fit anything smaller.

I seen these and thought it was a good idea for window planters boxes. I think if the quality was there they would work but they leak from the bottom and don't actually hold water making them useless. By the time I got around to using them my return window had closed.

I make my own self watering pots/planters. Its a lot of work. Thought I would give this one try. The "water sink" or felt band is okay. I don't feel like it is wide enough for what I need. I do like the spout that tells you how full the reservoir is. Good feature.

There were no illustrations of what each part should look like. You had to assume what each one was. I made the mistake of assuming the plastic "bobber" was the "straw" and destroyed it by cutting it. Also you had to assume what the capilliary strip was and where to put it. I put it inside the reservoir instead of outside. The overall concept of the product is good but you have to know how to set it up. Unfortunately the whole thing was ruined because of inadequate instructions.

I ordered this for my mother's birthday and she loves it! She only had one on her list, but I ordered two because I saw a lot of potential for something like this. From what I saw, assembly was easy and she was able to quickly set this up in an empty pot. As of now, her plant's soil is adequately soiled and she has an easy way to refill it when she's ready.
