Firstly, the sell by date was covered by a label with Easy Yummys own barcode on it. I had to peel it off and hold it over a strong light to read it. The date was in 2026 so acceptable, but why cover it up?Practical TestSince Waitrose stopped selling their own brand of pectin, my preserves have not been setting properly. My experience is that you will need more.

Used this for jam that we made from our autumnal fruit picking. Althought the pouch is resealable, you'd be better off decanting this into something airtight. The pouch is much bigger than the contents and the pectin is right at the bottom of it. This means that you're going to get covered in pectin every time you reach in to get a scoop. The included scoop is useful and measures out 2g worth. Experienced jam makers will know how much pectin they need as they cook, but newbies might find the lack of guidance a bit daunting.

Used this pectin powder for making rhubarb jam and it worked well, however I added however much pectin my recipe advised, rather than following what's written in the pouch (5g/kg v 16g/kg as per my recipe book).How much pecting you'll need will depend on the fruit you're using, so I think the seller should specify this in the pouch if they continue to include directions of use as it's confusing for beginners.The price is a bit higher than other pectin I've seen, however unless you make a lot of jam, a little big goes a long way.

Disclosure. This is a review of a product I was sent for free via Vine. All opinions are my own.I'm hoping to try jam-making this summer, so I chose this product as some fruits don't contain enough pectin naturally for jam made from them to be able to set.I was disappointed when I scanned the QR product on the packet, which was supposedly going to show me recipes, to only reach a shop page of the brand's other products.The packet indicates that 2-5g of the powder is required per 1kg of fruit, however due to the QR code not pointing to recipes, I will need to do separate research to determine which fruits need the higher or lower amount of that range, as I believe some fruits do contain enough naturally.Weight is 250g according to website. However I was very surprised that the packet neither displays a weight or best before date, particularly as the small print below the ingredients list says to see packaging for lot number and best before date. I don't see a lot number either. I think this missing info may possibly be underneath a sticky label, which is rather poor packing process.As a little will go a long way, there could be enough for making 50-125 kg jam in the packet, so that missing best before date is rather vital.Priced at £14.99 which equates to 12-30p /kg of fruit based on the 2-5g requirement which seems a fair price.The packet instructions are fairly vague too, for instance "simmer until thickened". No mention of the saucer test for testing if a jam will set. Also "put in fridge for a couple of hours, until it is set" when you should never put hot food into the fridge.The ingredients are pectin and dextrose. Origin is Italy. Resealable packet with a scoop.

Nice and easy to use. Just added it to sugar in the initial process of making the jam. Nothing simpler, so I gave it to a friend who is an expert jam maker. It took time to make Peach jam - but it turn out great!Downside: there is not enough instructions. My friend is a seasoned jam-maker and even she struggled to find out how much of the powder to use. Much info on the internet recommends using liquid pectin. To improve this product, more instructions needs to be given - either on the packet itself or on a website. We know this isn’t an exact science because you have to take into consideration the ripeness of the fruit but some guidance is in order.It's not for beginners. Not sure we would recommend this for children to use in jam making.

I use standard jam making pectin when I make chutneys, so I was intrigued to try this vegetarian option out. First of all, you get a big pouch for the price which is excellent as I've found the little pectin pouches to be getting quite expensive. It comes with a little measuring scoop which is also helpful. The problem is that this wasn't as effective as the standard option - I needed twice as much to get a firm-ish consistency, which is an important thing to remember. Good but not outstanding.

The Pectin Powder (250 g) is a fantastic vegetarian gelatin substitute, perfect for thickening jams, marmalades, and even ketchup. While it takes a bit of practice to find the right ratio of pectin to fruit, I've found it to be quite effective. It thickened my homemade ketchup nicely without leaving any aftertaste. Overall, it's a lovely addition to my pantry for making various preserves and other thickened recipes.

Ich habe das Easy Yummy Pektin Pulver für meine Marmeladen- und Kuchenfüllungen ausprobiert und bin echt zufrieden. Es sorgt zuverlässig für die perfekte Konsistenz, egal ob man es für Marmelade, Gelee oder Konfitüre verwendet. Das Pektin hilft dabei, die richtige Textur zu erreichen – weder zu flüssig noch zu fest, einfach genau richtig. 👍Besonders schätze ich, wie einfach die Anwendung ist. Man bekommt ohne großen Aufwand eine tolle Konsistenz hin. Es hat keinen Zitrusgeschmack, was ich positiv finde, weil es so die Aromen der Frucht oder anderer Zutaten nicht überlagert. 🍓🍏Es ist auch vegan und kalorienarm, was es zu einer guten Wahl für gesunde Rezepte macht. Für Kuchenfüllungen oder Marmeladen ist es einfach ideal. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt, auch wenn es momentan nicht verfügbar ist. Sobald es wieder auf Lager ist, werde ich auf jeden Fall mehr davon kaufen. Insgesamt bin ich wirklich zufrieden mit diesem Pektin! 🥯🍰

Geliert gut, aber da bei diversen Obstsorten unterschiedlich viel Gelierkraft benötigt wird, ist es nicht so leicht das richtige Maß zu finden. Hat aber nichts mit der Qualität zu tun.Beschrieben ist nur auf Englisch, dass man 2-5 Gramm pro Kilo Obst für Marmeladen und "andere" Obstzubereitungen benötigt und 2-3 Gramm für Obstaufstriche... Ist Marmelade kein Obstaufstrich??Habe kein MHD an der Packung entdeckt.Wäre schön wenn etwas eindeutigere Hilfestellung gegeben würde bei der Dosierung und entweder ein MHD angeben, oder informieren, dass es quasi ewig hält.

Marmelade aus dem Smoothie?Mit dem Easy Yummy Pektin Pulver wollte ich mein Glück versuchen und Marmelade aus einem Smoothie herstellen. Dafür habe ich 200 g Maracujamango-Smoothie mit 2 g Pektin und 2 TL Zucker vermischt und 10 Minuten lang köcheln lassen. Das Ergebnis war ein dickflüssiges, marmeladenähnliches Produkt, das überraschend gut geschmeckt hat. Durch den Wasserverlust während des Kochens war der Geschmack deutlich intensiver. Das Pektin hat zwar für eine gewisse Dickflüssigkeit gesorgt, aber so richtig fest wurde die Masse leider nicht.Joghurt-Dessert mit Pfiff:In einem zweiten Versuch habe ich 2 g Pektin mit 2 TL Zucker und 200 g griechischem Joghurt vermischt und aufgekocht. Nach dem Abkühlen war der Joghurt schön fest und hatte eine Konsistenz, die an Panna Cotta erinnerte. Diese Variante hat mir deutlich besser gefallen als die Smoothie-Marmelade.Kombinationswunder:Die Kombination von beiden Varianten, also fester Joghurt mit Mango-Maracuja-Soße, war ein echtes Highlight! So konnte ich ein leckeres und gleichzeitig gesundes Dessert zaubern, das bei meinen Freunden und Familie großen Anklang fand.Fazit:Das Easy Yummy Pektin Pulver ist ein vielseitiges Produkt, mit dem sich kreative Marmeladen und Desserts zaubern lassen. Die Verarbeitung ist einfach und die Ergebnisse sind lecker. Für die Herstellung von fester Marmelade ist allerdings etwas mehr Pektin notwendig, als in der Anleitung angegeben.Empfehlung:Das Easy Yummy Pektin Pulver ist eine tolle Alternative zu Gelatine und eignet sich für alle Hobbyköche, die gerne experimentieren. Mit etwas Kreativität und Geduld lassen sich damit köstliche Leckereien zaubern.Hinweis:Dieses Produkt wurde mir kostenlos zur Verfügung gestellt. Meine Meinung ist jedoch unabhängig davon und basiert auf meiner eigenen Erfahrung mit dem Produkt.

Außer Pektin ist in diesem Produkt nur Dextrose enthalten. Besonders gefällt mir als Vegetarierin, dass das Produkt vegan ist. Es wird als kalorienarm beschrieben, also ideal um Marmelade selbst herzustellen.Bei genauer Betrachtung der Anleitung (nur in Englisch) musste ich allerdings feststellen, dass man dem Produkt als erstem Schritt noch Zucker hinzufügen muss, bevor man es zu den Früchten gibt. Und dazu gibt es keine Mengenangaben! Ich habe dann mäßig dosiert (es ist ja auch schon Dextrose im Pulver enthalten!) und die Mischung unter die zerstampften roten Johannisbeeren gegeben. Das Einrühren klappte gut, es blieben keine Klümpchen. Allerdings wurde die Marmelade nicht fest, sondern blieb sehr flüssig, eher wie ein Smoothie.Der zweite Versuch gelang, aber nur mit deutlich höherer Zuckerzugabe.Schade! Ich hatte eine deutlichere Zuckerreduzierung erwartet.

Das Pektinpulver von Easy Yummy ist 100% pflanzlich, somit eine vegane Alternative zu Gelatine, speziell für Marmeladen und Süßspeisen. Als Zusatzstoff ist noch Dextrose aufgeführt, wodurch eine gewisse Grundsüße bereits gegeben ist. Laut Anleitung sollen 2 bis 5 Gramm Pektin auf 1 KG Früchte gegeben werden. Nun habe ich eine Gemüsesülze süß-sauer gemacht, bei der die Grundsüße schon optimal war und ich keinen weiteren Zucker dazugegeben habe. Nur Gemüsebrühe, Gewürze und verschiedene Gemüsesorten. Hat gut geliert und war sehr lecker. Allerdings habe ich 20 Gramm Pektin auf 600 ml Flüssigkeit gegeben. Zwischen der schrittweisen Erhöhung des Pektins habe ich immer eine Probe auf einen kalten Teller getan und auf die Gelierung geachtet.Ein Messlöffel zur korrekten Dosierung liegt bei, die Anleitung ist leider nur auf Englisch auf den Beutel gedruckt, da hätte ich mir eine deutsche Anleitung gewünscht.In meinen Augen ist das Pektin nicht nur eine vegane Alternative, sondern auch sehr gut für Diabetiker geeignet, da man die Zuckermenge durch Erhöhung des Pektins reduzieren kann.Bisher habe ich immer mit tierischer Gelatine gearbeitet, finde aber das Pektin eine gute und geschmacklich tolle Alternative.Da ich leider kein MHD auf der Tüte gefunden habe, obwohl in der deutschsprachigen Inhaltsangabe darauf hingewiesen wurde. Deswegen ziehe ich einen Stern ab und gebe gern 4 Sterne.
