Amazing vermiculite acts JUST LIKE vermiculite!

You should know, what you get is nothing like what the picture shows. You get vermiculite that is as thin as sand. Not chunky like shown. However, it does the job from what I can tell. Vermiculite is very versatile. The dust isn't bad like perlite. It doesn't smell bad, super light weight, so it's easy to tote around from plant to plant to mix with soil. All in all the quality and value for money is good. You just don't get what the image shows.

I do a ton of gardening and houseplant work, and for different projects I like to make my own soil blends and mixes, which is why I ordered this product. I add it to soils when I want to make sure that they both drain well, but need some extra moisture, especially in the summer when it's hard to keep my thousand plants watered. It's also great for adding to mixes for starting seeds since it holds onto water well. The bag I received appears to be about exactly what I would expect and how other brands have looked in the past. My only constructive criticism is that it would be nice if the bag was resealable. Otherwise, so far so good. At the current price of about $10, I think this is a pretty good deal and would consider ordering it again. I also would recommend it to other gardeners looking to make their own soil mixes!

I much prefer vermiculite over perlite. It seems like vermiculite has fallen out of favor in recent years and I'm not sure why. Both products help with drainage, but vermiculite also holds on to some water which can be a great help for those plants that need good drainage but also tend to dry out really fast. I always mix my own potting soils and have for years--I noticed a huge change for the worse when I ran out of vermiculite and couldn't find more locally. I'm so glad to have found some here on amazon. Highly recommended.
