Meat Cleaver, High Carbon Steel Bone Cleaver Hand Forged

This a beautiful, very well made, very sharp knife. I bought several of these for Christmas gifts this year and they were a huge hit! Bought it for my family white elephant and it was frozen in 4 turns back to back( we have a lot of hunters, fishers, and cooks in our family.) You could easily cut yourself just with getting the wrapper off, so be careful. I bought one for myself after opening the first one to wrap and I can’t wait to use it! I will give and update when I do.

Made from very thick stainless steel. Solid heavy knife. It has a very sharp edge and cuts with ease. The handle has a full tang and is well shaped and comfortable in the hand. I like the leather sheath, it is well made and it fits the knife very nicely. I would recommend purchasing again after having already received one.

I just received my Huusk knife. It appears to be fairly well made. However, I do have some critiques, which I will express below. First, I gave it some strokes on my knife steel, then checked it for sharpness before cutting some potatoes and onions. Here are my thoughts: 1) It is definitely not as sharp as it could be. I did the basic ‘slicing through a magazine page’ sharpness test. It was mediocre. Cutting through potatoes and onions required some effort. Adequate, not great. I plan to sharpen the blade by hand on my whetstone to improve it. 2) The finish on the wooden handle was nil. While the rivets and wood were well sanded and smooth, the wood itself was very dry and dull. I oiled the wood, and then applied a finish conditioner. Now, the handle looks and feels excellent. I like the ergonomics of the knife overall, especially the inclusion of a grip hole. I hope this information is helpful.

Absolutely LOVE this knife! It’s comfortable to hold and has a good weight to it. I have arthritis and I’m physically not able to use just any knife in the kitchen and this knife is simply amazing. It would make a wonderful gift. It comes in a beautiful black gift box. Very expensive looking. You can tell a lot of care went into making this knife. It has to have been hand forged and crafted by an expert. It’s beautifully crafted and extremely versatile. It could be used indoors or outdoors, could be used for hunting. I used it to cut meat and vegetables. Extremely sharp!! I love it and I will be buying another one plus I plan to buy the A knife also. I’m excited to try it out cause this one is awesome! Oh and it comes with a real leather sheath that can be used for storage or to attach to a belt which it pretty handy too! Special thank you to the maker for this astounding knife!

From tang to tip this is one robust piece of beautifully shaped steel. The sweeping S-curve along the spine makes for close control over the blade, and the sweeping convex curve of the blade itself means the edge is always engaged in a shearing cut, regardless of the angle of attack. The rosewood handle is well mounted with two sturdy brass rivets. I reground the edge, eliminating the secondary bevel to create a more acute cutting angle, and then honed it to genuine razor sharpness. Finally I wrapped the handle with a ribbon of lamb skin, which gives me a slip-free grip and fine control. I use this knife for skiving (thinning) leather, a tough job it performs with ease and precision. The carbon steel blade takes and holds its sharpness and requires less honing and stropping than stainless blades. I’ve paid a lot more for knives that do a lot less. This knife would also be a great addition to well-equipped kitchen or camping pack. Get two.

Great feel in the hand and nice addition to my kitchen as a meat knife. one of the first knives I have ever bought that I did not put right on a sharpening stone. usually I go up to 8000 on a wet stone but this was pretty good out of the box. looks pretty cool too so that is a bonus.

Low quality item. Got a rust spots after 2 weeks of usage. Waste of money.
