Landmann 0802002 Juniper Smoking Wood Chips

I have been unable to source flavoured wood chips where I live in Portugal, so this item has completely met my expectations

Wasn't quite sure what juniper wood would smell of but seeing as they use the berries in gin I thought it can't be all that bad! Juniper smells a bit like pine trees - kinda forest-y. I think it would go well with game type meats on the BBQ - venison, pheasant, duck, boar or even pork. Smells fantastic when smoking and even a small amount will impart some flavour into the meat. If it's your first purchase of wood chips though, I'd go for applewood or hickory to start with, as they'd go with your more traditional meats on the BBQ.

Can't wait to use it on salmon.

great bbq gift

Bought as a present so not had the chance to try the taste... Wood chips are a lot more smaller than expected, with a fair bit of 'sawdust' and 'green' within it so to speak. Usually they are required to be soaked before smoking so not sure how it will work. The contents weren't in a bag to seal the flavours and ended up leaking in the extra packaging (wasn't ideal for the intentions of a present).
