Cheaply made and misleading
I was very excited to see an affordable large size shield on Amazon. Not expecting top notch quality for the price I was severely disapointed to see the lack of workmanship on the edged metal rivets, the cheap wood with white glue(?) coming off and lastly a handle that was a cheap piece of bent metal screwed in instead of the handle pictured.First time I tried to use the shield the handle broke off. I am attempting to repair it.I recommend spending the money on a good shield or building one yourself.

Great price on a well made shield
Well made and well priced. I used mine for a Viking costume so I blackened the steel for a more historical look.

Good shield
Well made but only problem was I was promised they would put a strap on it to hang from my back but didn’t come with one. Fast shipping.

Overall it's a really good piece. My only complaint is that the shield that arrived is not the shield advertised in the image. The shield in the image has a cylindrical handle that appears to be sturdily bolted on. My shield has a rectangular handle that is sort of wedged in the center. The rectangular handle makes it a little difficult and uncomfortable to do any sort of "rotating door" maneuvers, but not impossible. Leather gloves should help with that. I am also not worried about the handle wedged in the center breaking off or cracking or anything. It seems to be sturdy enough, although I would much rather have the cylindrical handled that is advertised. A strap is also attached to the back, but I cut that off since they weren't historically accurate on these shields. Other than that, the construction is very good. I can't identify the wood, but it certainly isn't cheap and looks and feels durable. There are no loose bolts, no apparent cracks, and no chips in the paint. I don't plan on testing it, but based on how it feels I'm sure if you whacked with an axe a couple of times it would hold up very well

Worth every penny!
Great piece! Wasn't expecting it to come oiled but it did. Having a hard time getting the oil off of the wood but it's my only complaint!
