Humvee Utility Vest with 21 Pockets -Travel, Safari, Hunting, Camping, 100% Cotton, Tactical Jacket for Men & Women

This is the best and top of the line of photographer or pocket vests. They last for years under daily use, and they have more pockets than most of the others. They stand up to rugged use, all sorts of weather, and keep going. There are more pockets in them than you will likely use, let alone remember. I've used them for the last 20 plus years and replace them every 5-10 years. They can get ripped, or wear out from abrasion and other hard usage.

Medium weight cotton vest, pockets lined with polyester, which is nice, and its well made. Used for a photo vest, to use in hot weather or cold with a wool sweater under it and a light nylon poncho over it all in winter. Use outdoors in the wild not at the zoo. Its cotton, not waterproof, it will sweat up, but anything will. Vented back, lots of pockets, washed it, came out rumpled but fine. I prefer rumpled. Its not a concealed carry vest, which is good, since those look like you are carrying which in my opinion is stupid unless you are law enforcement or in a dangerous job, then it looks right. Everyone feels threatened from birth, by nearly anything, carry a gun wear a common CWP vest, you might as well have a bill board and make someone else who is carrying feel threatened. Some CWP vests are nice in build quality, for an urban hiking vest light. This more bulky vest has enough pockets for small cameras, snack, little bit of water, knife, phone, DSLR is around the neck on a neoprene strap, light extra lens, pad for GPS and navigation, but bear in mind, more weight on the shoulders of a vest, you might like a backpack better, you can sit that on the ground. Camera vests have a weight limit, in reality. Its not a suitcase but in an airport lightly loaded, its dropped in the security tray with all the metal gear and a bag. Your pants pockets are empty. Back vest pocket good for folded water proof light weight poncho. Got a hat with some brim out of Mexican Palm straw water proofed a bit, you can put zip locks in a few pockets left open. You can get by ok in the rain with time to get out a mylar space blanket. Rain can last a while but often it can be better to sit than risk slipping down something with water running under your feet. Most of the time in the swampy wild, I tend to prefer my eyes as best protection. Learn to use those, they are a number one double barreled gun. Alone, you do not have a gun behind you in someone else's hand. Any pistol is going to be in a shoulder bag, with a belly strap, not in a vest. I think this is a good wilderness vest if packed right, with the minimum gear, a light nylon pancho, space blanket and cord, whistle, fire gear and whatever cell is covered in the area and a spare battery. Alone, communication is key and even a locator device is ok if its extreme. Even a six hour hike alone can be sketchy. Vest can have enough light primary gear plus cellular to get it done. Again, its not waterproof and hike in the rain in tropical areas, it will soak the sweat, waterproof the camera pockets and electrical gear and put that very light poncho in the back. If the vest stinks and you got some experience with your eyes, and have to rinse it out, and let it dry on your back the next day, you wore it right. I wear an extra large in this vest if its over a T shirt, with the side snaps loose, but over a sweater in winter, and long sleeve shirt, a XX in this vest is ok because I bulk up, one size up, and the vest runs large. If its just for looks buy the size you are, its large enough. If you got a pot belly, go big bubba. You can put an extra snap on the side or some Velcro and cinch up as well.

#1: It fit dead bang like a vest should. I am a big guy 6'3" 300lbs and this 3x large fits perfect for a vest. Just loose enough where I can fill the pockets and wear a jacket or hoodie under it if need be. #2: I am a photographer and yes it has plenty of pockets for everything. Inducing Larger lens's and speedlight flash. And I can get to the equipment in my pockets much quicker than in my pack, Or even leave the pack in the car and till have a couple of different lenses and the flash. 3: I noticed several people complaining about the light weight. I don't know I like the light weight and fact that it breaths. I tend to be working when I wear it and don't want to get hot. And though it's not made out of stop rip material like my BDU shirt seems bloody well sturdy to me. Light weight good! Heavy is hot n bad.lol And though it's light weight it's not cheaply made. 4: It's Fun and yes professional! Carrying a pack in a pain in the hind quarters, Wearing a vest is just plain fun, it's quicker to grab my camera and vest when in a hurry. And in all honesty yes it makes me look a little more like a professional photographer rather than just a neanderthal with a camera. lol. I'm probably even going to get Stirling Photography patch made for it.

As with other reviews, I chose a size smaller than I normally would (Med instead of Large) and the fit was just right. Some problems with the zipper sticking at the bottom, but I rarely use it anyway. The number of pockets is impressive and the only downside to that is remembering where you put something, but that's not a complaint. It's as lightweight as you can expect given the number of pockets it has, and I had no problems carrying a couple of large lenses including my 300 zoom. I think it will also double for hikes and such as it would be more comfortable than a day pack for the few items I normally would carry. I would recommend for the casual user, will find out how it holds up with longer use. UPDATE Oct 16: Still getting good use on camping and photo outings. Several compliments, borrowed once, now someone wants to borrow it for a week to Australia. I have directed them to AMAZON. (They need to get their own!) UPDATE Aug 25, 2014: Still getting use out of it. One of the pockets tore on the inside, resown and back to use. I do use it on camping trips and a very good vacation in New Mexico desert with my trusty Nikon. Everything goes in the vest that I need and much that I don't need. My only downside is the vest gets too heavy when loaded, but that's because I overloaded it with all those pockets. Hangs by my door ready to go, I never 'put it away'. UPDATE Sept 11, 2015: Still hanging on the back of my door. Still getting great use of it. Other than the one pocket nothing else has happened to it. If I keep updating a review it means I still use it, still like it, and think it's worth it. UPDATE April 11 2016 Still hanging on my door, this time it went to Texas with me. Another great bout of use of it. UPDATE Nov. 3 2017 Still hanging on my door. This time it went to Alabama and Tennessee. Still holding together.

I just love this vest! I use it for my photography adventures. I am able to equal out the weight of my equipment (lenses mainly) with the pockets available. I like not only the amount of room but also the location of the pockets. What I mean is that you don't have to twist and turn to get to one thing or another. The smaller pockets are easily accessible without needing to get past or around the larger items. That is more helpful than one might realize. To be able to access everything with ease, will make your next excursion much more comfortable if your not having to fight to get something you need, fast. The pockets can be close meaning when you need to bend over or reach down to pick up something, you don't have to worry much about those expensive lenses falling out. Some pockets have zippers, some have velcro, and some are buttons. It is a bit long, but that was good for me. I am 5' 7" and I weigh about 110lbs. So weight distribution is an absolute must! I ordered a medium and the shoulders are a perfect size so I never feel like it might slide off. It's the oversized length that gives room to make those deep pockets. And because it hangs low, the heavier items don't feel like they are pulling your head and chest over. The material feels very well made. The inside, on your back anyway, has a mesh layer. And on the outside, the solid vest material has a couple of vertical slits from the top ALMOST all the way down, which exposes the mesh and allows for airflow, very nice! I say 'almost' all the way down because spanning the waist area, from one side to the other, is yet another pocket! So, overall, this gets the highest grade from me. I recommend it to anyone who needs a comfortable, sturdy, and a very versatile way to make it much easier to go on any kind of excursion.

Item was of good quality. Except it was way too small, we did not realize that the sizes ran so small from American sizes. It would of costed us more to send back than what it costed us to buy it, ended up donating it.

This is my third Humvee vest and the 7th vest I have purchased for photography. 5 of the 7 have been lightweight, less expensive nylon/polyester. The two that have not fallen apart are this Humvee and my first Rothco "Uncle Milty," made of cotton and similar sturdy fibers. The natural fibers need treatment for water resistance and are heavier. The design with deep pockets is ideal for photo gear, and the zippers and velcro are larger and sturdier than most. The pockets are just right for lenses, batteries, cell phone, etc. My only complaint is about the epaulets, which are now just a fashion statement. On the lightweight Humvee, the epaulet lifted to hold a camera strap in place on your shoulder. This one is sewn on the full length and unsnaps to allow only a cord or very thin strap. Too bad. Still, I'm happy overall.

I bought this vest in a size medium and it was way too big but the pockets were fantastic so I ordered a size small. The vest fits great but the pockets are too narrow to fit any lens in. I am currently abroad so by the time I get these from customs I can’t return them and now I have two of these vests I can’t use for the intended purpose. What a shame that you would make the pockets too narrow on a smaller sized vest to accommodate camera equipment. There is more than enough room to have kept them the same size as the larger vest. The fabric is great and it held up to hot wash and dry in the machine when I tried to shrink the larger one to see if I could make it work. It didn’t shrink. This was almost the perfect vest. My advice is don’t waste your money. I use a rebel t8i so no reason the lens should not fit.
