Great Product
I tried several times to make a sourdough starter and failed! I saw a short on YouTube in which a young lady mentioned telling her sister to just buy (or be gifted) a starter. So I took her advice (that she gave her sister) and bought a starter. I purchased the Einkorn starter, since I use it in our low carb - Keto Friendly - flour mix.It worked perfectly! I feed it with Einkorn only and use with our low carb flour for bread. I haven't quite tweaked the low carb bread recipe, but the starter gives it that sourdough taste and goodness.Note: Our flour is about 1/4 Einkorn flour, so that is why the starter has difficulty making it rise. NOTHING is wrong with the starter...it is perfect. Gluten free breads do not make sourdough like those made with wheat flour. It won't happen.But, I love the bread we end up with and has roughly (depending on how you slice it) <6g carbs per slice.I would definitely recommend buying this starter!Thank you!

It works!!
I read all the reviews and decided to give the sourdough starter a shot since I didn’t want to spend a week creating a starter from scratch.The item arrived before estimated delivery date but my flour hadn’t arrived yet so I had to place the starter in the fridge for a day. When I opened to smell the 900 year old starter, it was so liquidy and smelt like strong yeasty beer. It’s my first time attempting to make sourdough bread so I wanted to make sure everything went correctly. I followed the instructions to the tee and fed it overpriced Smart Water (distilled bottled water) and unbleached AP flour - my husband did mention if it’s actually 900 years old, it’s probably a lot more resilient than that but hey better safe than sorry. I waited excitedly for some reaction to happen the following day but NOTHING happened at all. I fed it a second time but this time, I stuck it in the oven with the lights on, and omg, this thing grew SO quickly after. Since then, I’ve washed and dried the original container it came in, replaced it with the new starter so I have a backup in case I end up killing the current starter somehow.My husband says the kitchen in our home is just for decor but hey, I’m finally putting it to good use! I’ve already made two loaves of sourdough bread. The taste is delicious (not too sour at all), especially after you toast it and butter it up! Mmmm. I’ve always been fascinated with bread scoring art. Mine isn’t perfect but hey, gotta cut myself some slack for a being complete newbie!Highly recommend this starter. Honestly, if nothing is happening/is too slow, just stick it in the oven with the lights on and keep the oven door opened for ventilation.

Tastes great and easy to revive
After hurricane Milton my starter died because we evacuated the state and I couldn't feed it. I know what you're saying, why not just refrigerate it? Well I did but we lost power for a week, so sadly everything in the refrigerator went to the trash because it was unsafe to eat. After trying and failing miserably multiple times to make my own starter I bit the bullet and bought one. I was wary of buying one off amazon but the reviews were promising so I figured it was cheap enough to risk it for the sourdough biscuit and I am so glad I did! This starter comes with clear and easy to follow instructions and within 2 days I had an active starter. The taste is incredible and not overly funky, and the texture is smooth and easy to incorporate. Great starter for any baker- especially one like myself who can't make a starter to save her life but can make a mean loaf!

(For some reason my phone is not highlighting the first star on the review…very odd.)I knew that it took a long time to make your own starter from scratch and get it healthy - with all the necessary organisms and everything- so I ordered this and couldn’t be happier. I was easy to feed and grow, and I loved that it came with directions - as this was my first time ever working with a starter or making my own sourdough. The quality was on point and the taste is absolutely delicious in my breads and cinnamon buns! Highly recommend!❤️

Excellent Product With Exceptional Service
I had been wanting to try to make sourdough for a long time but was always intimidated by the process. I decided to order this starter as a starting point. The best part of buying this product - in addition to the product itself is the service. The service from this seller is exceptional!! Probé esta masa madre Living Dough por recomendación y ¡superó mis expectativas! Tiene un sabor delicioso, una textura muy activa desde el primer día y facilita muchísimo el proceso para quienes desean hacer su propio pan en casa sin tener que iniciar una masa madre desde cero.Aunque yo tengo mi propia masa madre desde hace más de dos años (que es la que uso para los panes de mi marca), decidí probar esta para poder recomendarla con confianza, y me encantó. Es una excelente opción para quienes se sienten abrumados por el proceso de activación o simplemente quieren una masa madre lista y confiable.El hecho de que provenga de una cultura de levadura orgánica con más de 900 años de historia le da un valor adicional. Recomiendo seguir bien las instrucciones y alimentarla como se debe para mantenerla activa y fuerte. ¡Ideal para principiantes y también para panaderos curiosos como yo!

It arrived later than expected. It looked like it exploded but I managed to salvage a small amount out of the bottom of the plastic container. It's starter and it may be 75 years old but I don't find it any better than my own starter I make using einkorn flour. I would not recommend this personally, but the price is cheap and you really aren't wasting much if you just want to order it and see what it's like. I give it four stars because it arrived in bad condition. And it has made decent sourdough loaves.
