Tricky learning curve

This Roland TR-6S drum machine is exactly what I wanted for my small set up with the arturia microfreak. Roland is known as THE drum machine to have, so I needed to pick one of theirs. The quality is outstanding and it is sturdy. This is thing is so powerful though, that I am still learning about it watching youtube videos to figure out the tricks. So I would say that to a point it is easy to use, but on some things like saving a separate drum set and naming it, I just learned that. The price is amazing for all the things that this can do and I still have yet to learn how to do. Yes, I love that this is portable and runs on batteries if I want to play with drum sets out of my computer room. I would say sound quality is good, but it really depends on your setup: are you listening through a left over mackie speaker like I have or studio headphones?

Great drum machine. The sequencer is great and easy to use on the fly. Great selection of built in effects as well. Only downside is the limited ability to arrange patterns into full tracks. You can set up to 8 patterns to play in order in a loop. More than that requires an external sequencer/midi.

You can import your own samples, create your own patterns. I have not scratched the surface of pattern making and automation possible. Reverb is nice, as is delay and filter sweeps. Fader knobs for each instrument is very useful when creating changes in your pieces. Very portable, does not take a lot of space.
