Best Mini Multi-Tool I Own—Compact and Reliable
Best Mini Multi-Tool I Own—Compact and Reliable The SOG PowerPint is an excellent mini multi-tool. Despite its compact size, it has 18 well-designed functions, including pliers, a pocket knife, and other essentials. The stainless steel build feels solid and durable, while still being lightweight enough for everyday carry. This is a very cool tool and easily the best mini multi-tool I own. I’ve collected several for myself and even gifted a few—they’ve all been a hit. Compact, reliable, and super handy to have on hand for everyday carry or small tasks.

Pocket sized and customizable
Better than I expected! So I’m a knife guy and I make knives from time to time too. I also love multi tools. I have been buying and using multi tools for most of my life. This is my first SOG though. I held back for a while because of the steel they choose it’s not great for knives but it’s adequate with a really good heat treatment and it seems SOG got the most they could out of this cheaper steel. I think first I should list what I like and then the drawbacks. Pros: Good tool selection Nice pliers Light weight Compact for EDC Good value Seems tough and durable Rust resistant Cool looks All outside accessible tools! Except pliers Very easy to work it I like the options for color Cons: Not very wear resistant blade steel Lock mechanism takes time to get used to Knives didn’t come that sharp but I fixed that Some tools stick to each other Gritty action on the tools for the first week The bottle opener isn’t useful as a flat head unless you file off the little nail nick on the tip. Ultimately it’s worth the money and will be in my pocket a lot going forward. I recommend sharpening the knives when you get it and to add more functionality you can remove the nail tab from the bottle opener to get a flat head driver out of it. Also you can sharpen the tip of the cord/strap cutting hook to make it a nice package opener too. I also recommend oiling it when you get it to help it beak in good. Nice little pocket friendly tool!

Superb, and you’ll carry it!
Zero criticism. Very well designed and made. Perfect size for EDC in your pocket or tucked in your waistband. I attached an Uncle Bill’s Silver Gripper to the lanyard ring. I carry this PowerPint all the time. It’s both useful and convenient. It feels great in the hand. The plier head and mechanism are very well made and work easily. The pocket clip is especially good. I LOVE my original Leatherman. Period. I’ve had it for over 25 years. I’d intended to Cary it daily but it’s just too big for pocket carry. Sure I’ve got the original leather belt pouch but that’s too much trouble and looks oddball. Additionally, I don’t like advertising what I’ve got because people want to borrow it - we know what that leads to. So, I only take it fishing, hiking, hunting, camping, etc. EDC? And I mean EVERY day carry. No. Is this SOG PowerPint better than my original Leatherman? Side by side with no other considerations, NO! My old Leatherman is way better. However, my old Leatherman has never done me any good sitting at home on a shelf when I needed it. I’m carrying the PowerPint. I’m completely satisfied and wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone.

Great for Lefties (with a small mod)
First off, I really like this tool! I've owned and used various Gerber (600, Dime, DualForce), Leatherman (PST, Style PS, Skeletool, Juice, Wingman), and a few other cheap no-name multi-tools. I've looked for years for a MT that could 1. fit in my pocket, 2. not weight a ton, and includes a set of 3. actually functional pliers and 4. functional screwdrivers. This little guy meets those criteria. To a somewhat lesser extent I wanted a tool a southpaw can use. As other southpaws are well aware, 99.9% of the existing MTs in the world that have a pocket clip open up a file or something else that pretty useless at your left thumb rather than a blade of some sort. As sold, this one does too. However, it is possible to disassemble this tool with two 8mm hex bits and flip/flop the plain edge blade and the file. So, for perhaps the first time in recorded history, there exists a MT with a BLADE at your left thumb!!! It's not the easiest thing to open but it does open. The excellent: The pliers are wonderful. They are stiff and just the right size. I can use them for jewelry repair on up to a 9/16" nut. They can function as tweezers to crab claw crackers. These are much more effective than the Skeletool or Juice and on par with the Wingman or Gerber 800. The ability to use 1/4" bits takes care of all my screwdriver needs. The awl is awesome. The ruler on this actually matches a stand alone 6" ruler and is very functional. The little jewelry screwdriver is great both as a small screwdriver and works okay as a "poky thing" when what you really need is a small punch. The crimper works really well on fishing weights. The average: The file is pretty good but not as good as some other offerings. The bottle opener works but should have been shaped to handle a #8 flat tip. The hook cutter works for fishing line and paracord. Both the plain and serrated blades are sharp and functional. Now the bad: the scissors are junk. The protractor function is useless. The can opener is dull and should have a #2 Philips capable tip like a Swiss Army Knife (...perhaps I can do that with a file?). Overall, it's definitely worth the asking price if you are looking for a pocket-sized MT that won't pull your shorts down and offers very good functionality. This is my first SOG manufactured tool, and I will now definitely consider some of their other offerings.

Top notch, medium duty multitool.
Top notch multitool here. Compares directly against the Leatherman Juice. The SOG has better ergonomics, better tool layout, way easier to deploy the tools, and carries so easily. It's not as heavy duty as a Leatherman, but for medium duty tasks and quick, convenient stuff it's really hard to beat the SOG. It didn't replace my Wave or Skeletool in the collection, but it did kick everything out of rotation. That said, I wish it had a saw, the knife blade ducks like every other multitool knife, and I don't think I'll ever use the bit driver, but I'm glad it's there. One thing to note. You can not half open the pliers to like on a LM. If you're using the tools, you'll be gripping the square body of the frame. But it's extremely compact, roughly two bic lighters. Very happy, will definitely be purchasing again in the future.

Compact but super strong!
Love love love! This is compact but very strong and useful. It has tools that you will actually use. The price is so much better than Leatherman and I think SOG is better quality personally. You don’t get a bunch of things you won’t use and it easily fits in your pocket or purse without taking up space.

Terrific idea and design, implementation inconsistent
SOG PowerPint Pocket Multitool The SOG PowerPint is a small, light pocket sized multitool - larger than a Leatherman Squirt, but smaller than a Leatherman Juice - closed its about 3.2" L x 0.5" T x 0.9" W, and weighs 4.2oz. A perfect size and weight and a good selection of tools. No one else seems to make something this size with these tools so it’s a standout product conceptually. That said, the materials, precision and quality control are somewhat lacking - not up for Leatherman for instance. I went through four of these to find one where at least most of the key tools were "good" or above - so quality control is poor. If you decide to purchase one, do it from a place with easy free returns. 1. Needle Nose Pliers - Very Good for size 2. Soft Wire Cutter - Good, easily cuts copper and aluminum wire 3. Scissors - Good - small but sharp and cut well (several were dull or malformed so would not cut well) 4. Inch Rule - useless 5. Bottle Opener - fair 6. #1 Phillips - good - not quite 3d but ok 7. Serrated Blade - good but cuts raggedly (sometimes there are very sharp) 8. Can Opener - useless - not sharp and doesn't stay on can rim (too rounded on edge) 9. File - good (many of these were dull and shallow and useless for even soft materials) 10. Hook Cutter - fair - not very sharp (occasionally one will be very sharp) 11. Jewelry Driver - good but not small enough for eyeglasses 12. AWL - good 13. MM Rule - useless 14. Straight Edge Blade - good - adequately sharp (sometimes these are very sharp) 15. Wire Crimper - fair - only adequate for smallest wire/connectors 16. Protractor - useless 17. Bolt Gripper - good - decently sharp 18. Pocket Clip - very good - grippy, flexible, works on various thicknesses Great size, weight, and design. Not so great an implementation. Worth it if you get a good one. But that might take a few tries.

Really nice smaller "carry" Multi-tool. Very pleased I chose this.
I am a longtime Leatherman fan...I've carried one on my side for most of my adult life. At 54, I've worn out 2 Leatherman tools, and am on my 3rd. I find that while I like having a multi-tool with me, I decided I wanted a smaller tool I could carry in my pocket vs. in sheath on my belt. After doing a lot of research and watching various reviews, I settled on the the SOG PowerPint. It helped that I was able to get it on sale as well. It came well packaged and upon getting my hands on it, my first impression was how solid it felt in my hand. The quality of the build and feel is top notch. Opening the tool to use the plyers is smooth and there is zero play in the connections. While I wasn't sold on accessing the tools from the "outside" of the handles (I've always had the style that needs opened to get to the tools), I found I didn't have any issues. My concern was that the tools may not be contained tightly within the handles, but they take a little effort to open, which is good, because they won't work themselves open over time. As for size...it's really is a nice compromise between a full size tool and a true mini tool. Small enough to be comfortable in my pocket, but large enough to be actually useful. As a first time SOG buyer, I am impressed and pleased with the workmanship, finish, and robustness of the tool. I would definitely buy it again and recommend it. I may be getting a few more for Christmas gifts this year.

Terrible quality
Broken the instant I tried to tighten something. The jaws are secured with some kind of rivet and they popped. Terrible quality.
