excellent. pleasantly surprised.
UPDATE: Six months later, our little Houdini hasn't figured out how to take it off! Excellent peace of mind--much more staying power than every other collar we have tried! And it still looks brand new. We bought a second one in blue for our other cat. <3 We got the smaller size, though, and it barrrreeeely fits, so it does seem that the small is almost too small and the large is almost too large--a medium size (or even just making the small larger and the large smaller) would be great!ORIGINAL REVIEW: We weren't sure about this purchase because there weren't a lot of reviews, and because the vendor seemed to sell all kinds of odds and ends (so it didn't seem to be, like, a cat collar company--although I have since seen that the creator, Angel Pet Supplies, does appear to focus on "fine leather pet products.") We were really excited, though, that it turned out to be so lovely and solid--just completely well-made. And a very classic appearance! (My spouse wanted to recreate the look of a childhood black cat who'd worn a red collar with rhinestones, and I looked at a MILLION before settling on this one!) One star deducted just because we've only had it for a few days, so can't speak to its durability and thus value.I appreciate the elastic safety bit--we wouldn't buy a collar without it or a safety release. I also appreciate that the rhinestones are set in grommets rather than in prongs--that seems sturdier and safer. The only imperfection is that our cat is at the lowest end of the sizing for the adult cat collar, so it's a smidge loose, and the end of the collar sticks out pretty far. Usually when this happens I wrap a tiny piece of duct tape around the collar and the collar-end, so that it stays wrapped around itself, but on this one, the only place to do that would be on the elastic safety bit, and I worry that wrapping duct tape around the elastic could slightly lessen its stretchiness in a safety situation. We can't cut it because the leather is beautifully hemmed, and because we want there to be room for Inky to grow. We've temporarily solved this problem by doubling the end under and tucking it back into the metal loop, as you can see in the photo; this works, but isn't perfectly firm or beautiful.

These High Quality Leather Safety Cat Collars Are The Most Durable!
I discovered these cat collars from Angel Pet Supplies about 3 years ago and am glad I did. I have indoor and outdoor cats. It was hard finding durable collars that would last for more than a month or two. Simple grooming and scratching would be enough to destroy the cheaply made collars found at pet stores. That's not the case with these very durable leather collars. And yes, they are leather! The elastic safety release works great. It is wide and riveted onto the collar. It's not going to rip or detach from the collar. I've had my cats turn up without their collar, only to find their collar later on hanging from shrub branches, fencing and indoor furniture.I live outside of Houston and these collars hold up well to heat and humidity. I would say they have a lifespan of about 2 years, when the elastic release kind of loses it's elasticity from the heat. The collars on my indoor cats are much longer lasting. This review is for the pink collar, but I've bought all colors, both in rhinestone and studded versions. The prices can go up and down, so I tend to buy what's "on sale". For instance, when I bought the pink collars, they were an add-on for $8.00, but at the writing of this I see they are now $20.00, and tomorrow they might be $12.00. Not sure why the pricing fluctuates so much.Amazon is the only place I've been able to find this brand. Don't fall for the knock-offs as they usually aren't real leather (even though they claim to be leather) and the elastic is like a cheaply made ponytail holder and will break quickly.

I love these collars.
I have purchased these twice. If your cat is an adult you may want to purchase the larger size. Great well made collars.

Strong stretch for neck
This cat collar is worth the price as the stet h part at the beck is much stronger than other similar cat collars. Also, the rhinestones are very pretty and make this cat collar unique when compared to others. Cat collars with a looser elastic at the neck have had my cat’s leg get caught in the stretch and although I replaced it with the same collar, it happened again and the stretch section does not revert to its prior tightness. This should not happen to this collar which also uses more, stringer leather than in the other brands I tried.

Sharp-dressed cat
He doesn't like nylon collars because they shrivel up when they get wet and sop up dirt like a rag, so he's been accustomed to leather poodle collars for years. For as long as we've known, leather cat collars didn't exist. I was always worried about him getting stuck in trees and whatnot. But then I saw this collar and had to get it for him! He looks sharp wearing it. His brother got the baby blue one so they could look decked-out together. Now for comments on the build quality:* The part where the elastic goes into the collar seems industrial-glued and top-stitched only, but I'm not for certain. There's a rivet on the other side which seems pretty sturdy. If he got stuck, I imagine the elastic would stretch and he'd slip out of the collar instead of it breaking open.* There's some kinda small clothing tag inside the collar which I might cut-out later if it bothers him.* The rhinestones kinda go off to the side when worn on the last handful of holes, but so far he wears his tags on the other side to counter-balance it. I don't know if he does this intentionally or not. He DOES rather like to be symmetrical.* There's a little cat bell on a soldered jump-ring affixed to the collar. It can be broken off if desired, but I left it on for the safety of his prey.* The rhinestones are inset very securely into the collar and won't fall out like those pronged ones at the store.All-in-all, the cats look totally awesome in their new bling.

This is not a break away collar
I got this for my kitty thinking it was a breakaway collar because it said a safety collar. It has a bit of elastic in it so it can stretch. But if your cat fell from a tree branch and it got caught....well you get the picture. Your cat would not be safe. It is a nice collar, attractive, I had wanted a leather collar which seems to be hard to find, but it's not what I would call a safety collar. I had to order another one with a breakaway feature from elsewhere.

Make sure you want it
Had to return our collar and had to pay $13 for shipping to return it. Didn’t see anywhere where it said you had to pay to return for credit. Make sure you don’t have to return for credit, sizing is off from other collars.

Variety of Colours and Buckle Closure is Best for my 8 Cats
I have 8 cats. They are all micro chipped and wear Angel cat collars in different colours with matching tags with their name , phone number and address. They are not allowed outside, but just in case one of them slips outside, the Angel cat collars and name tags should assure that they are returned to me. I’ve tried other brands and the Angel collars are far superior to all the others. They all have the elastic for a quick release and the buckle is more secure than the click type closures. I highly recommend Angel cat collars.

Too small and tight
Well made, and probably ok for a small cat, but it's too tight for my cat
