Great cooler
Installed this on a 2007 Chevy 1500 to help the trans out when the camper hooked up.Last year with out it the trans ran around 200F this year 160F to 170F.Much bigger than the sock cooler but very easy to install just make a couple of brackets and wire it in 2 hour it was installed.Very happy with it so far

Super Cooler
The cooler itself is very nice and seems to be keeping the transmission much cooler as advertised. This product needs to have fittings and hoses listed and sold as an accessory for vehicle applications. I had to do a lot of shopping to get the right set up with fittings for the radiator and transmission lines to work. Mounting locations, pictures of brackets and ideas would be useful.

Dropped VW Engine Oil Temp by 30-40 Degrees
I have a new to me 58' Beetle and it has a 1915 in it that came from a sandrail. I suspect the sandrail had some serious external oil cooling setup and when the previous owner installed this engine into the bug, he just ran with the normal doghouse setup. Well, after trying to get my bug to drop temps from 230-240 degrees with different oils, better engine tin and timing/carb adjustments with no luck; I decided to get an external oil cooler.WOW, my first long drive here in AZ with 100 degree ambient temps resulted in a max temp of 199 degrees...that's a 30-40 degree drop. That's huge. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.I can't speak to the durability of this product yet as its been installed for just one day...but I was so excited and pleased with the results that I had to post this review now. Usually, I wait a long time to post a review so that I have time to get a feel for the product. If things go south with this cooler, I will update my review. This cooler comes with a built in sending unit to turn on/off the fan, this is a huge plus considering the price point of this cooler. Installation took some time for me, only because I was trying to find a spot to install it that wouldn't require any drilling. Unfortunately I couldn't find one so I drilled four holes up into the body above the transmission and mounted it there. I actually only used three of the holes as I couldn't get to the fourth...but its rock solid. Also, I bought some rubber washers/bushings to act as shock absorbers in between cooler and body. It's a perfect spot really, great for air flow and not in the flow of engine heat. The cooler size is nearly perfect for a bug as it fits nicely in the area over and to the left of trans and has room left over to run the oil lines and wiring. I have the fan switch connected directly to my battery for now and the fan will run after I shut of the car, but has only run for about 10 seconds so far. I'm not sure if this is a built in feature of the sending unit in this fan, or if it coincidentally hit the shut of temp in the 10 seconds and shut down the fan... I have a disconnect on battery so if it looks like it's gonna run forever after car is turned off, I will just disconnect battery. Not much else to say for now. I did do one thing that I would like to pass along as a tip. When I was trying to find a spot to install, I cut a piece of cardboard from the box it was shipped in, to the exact size of the radiator fin section on the side opposite the fan assembly. I taped this cardboard over the fins so it would protect them as I was moving the cooler around in the tight quarters looking for the right spot. This will help you from damaging the fins while hunting down your final installation location.Awesome product, I am so stoked! Off for another drive!

B&M 70298 Hi-Tek SuperCooler Oil Cooler with Fan
Fan/cooler is a stout, high quality unit. Unfortunately, it is a lot bigger than the dimensions listed on Amazon or B&M's site .They indicate 10" wide X 7-1/2" high, it actually measures 10" X 9-1/4". The cooler itself measures 7" high, without the inlet/outlet, mounting brackets or temperature sensor. The temp sensor's plug and wire adds another 1/4"-1/2", depending on how tightly you want to bend the wire. That makes it 2"+ higher than advertised.Too bad it is so much taller, it will not fit my application. Looking into this a little deeper, I can build a fan and cooler, that will actually fit, using off the shelf parts, for less money.

Well built overall good performance--marked down only because the automatic temp based fan-turn on did not work
I use two of these together in series. They do a good job in that configuration. I use a 4.0 liter engine bored and stroked to 4.9 liter. It puts out a lot of power and a lot of heat. The automatic fan turn on at 170 degrees (oil temp) did not work. However I installed a manual turn on switch which works fine. I have Elite Auto-helm gauges that turn vivid red when the temp rises. Driving down the Freeway without fans on it stays about 160 oil temp. Off road rock crawling in hot weather oil temps can rise to near 250 degrees but the temperature drops very fast as soon as the load on the engine lessons. Rock Crawling with 37 inch tires in hot weather on very steep ground produces high temps so a lot of cooling is required.

oil cooler
i installed this on my 2003 Land Rover Discovery because on this year they did not install a oil cooler. so i have drove cross country twice and with a 6000 pound trailer, with this cooler installed and it has performed really well. i have installed a temp gauges on the same vehicle to monitor the oil, transmission, coolant temp, and its really good to see the when towing how high the temp gets with a cooler on. I done even want to know how hot the engine oil will get with out a cooler on it. And after modifying my vehicle to utilize the cooler for the best possible air flow past the cooler i was able to keep the oil temp below 230 degrees Fahrenheit.

Used it for a transmission cooler on my 06 Vette ...
Used it for a transmission cooler on my 06 Vette. It keeps the trans 20 degrees cooler than my coolant now, at about 160-180 degrees. Used to be 20 degrees hotter at most times, well over 200. I bypassed the thermal switch because it would allow the temps to get too hot before kicking on allowing the temps to spike.
