I have benign prostatic hyperplasia an high triglycerides. I take Tamsulosin and get some relief. I started taking Beta Sitosterol, and I guess the additional relief was subtle but effective. I noticed this now twice when I ran out and went a couple of days without taking it. Once I resumed the Beta Sitosterol, the urine flow went back to "normal" for me. In regards to the triglycerides, I'll have my annual in march. We'll see.

I was tired of not sleeping more than an hour and was looking for help. Tried a few products that helped a little, but figured i could do better. I found this product that says 1200mg of Beta Sitosterol, but it's 3 pills. So i take one in the morning and one at night that's still more than i took with the old meds and over time, i've discovered i sleep longer between waking up to pee 1 oz or so. Now, i am sleeping 4-5 hours at a stretch which is pretty decent for me. Been on this for almost month now and will see how much more it improves. But overall, i'm happy with this and getting extra beneficial sleep is a good deal..:) Good price, 240 capsules so it'll last a while. I'll update if things improve or get worse. But for now, i'd say try it and see how it goes!

Beta Sitosterol is a wonderful help for those with prostate and even bladder flow issues. However, it like Surprisingly, beta sitosterol also affects the iris muscles inside the eye during cataract surgery … a condition called the “intraoperative floppy iris syndrome” (IFIS). This problem can leave the patient with much debris blocking sight in the gel of the eye (the vitreous humor). Researchers have found that medications called alpha-blockers used to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate – such as Flomax, Hytrin, Cardura and Uroxatral — can create a risk of complications during cataract surgery. Beta sitosterol is a natural alpha-blocker. If you need cataract surgery be sure to tell your eye surgeon about taking beta-sitosterol. I think if you stop taking it and the wait a specified period of time for it to get out of your system, you can then proceed with the cataract surgery. Don't keep it a secret. Work with your surgeon who know about IFIS!
