LifeAir Air Filter 12"x24"x1" Washable HEPA 100% MADE IN USA

We just bought our first house and decided to get a reusable filter. Our rental supplied disposable ones but we have 5 dogs so we were replacing them every two weeks. Being environmentally conscious of the impact that was making, I made the decision to buy reusable and I’m glad I did. It’s hard to gauge if it works to reduce allergens because neither myself or my husband have allergy problems. But it definitely does a great job of keeping pet hair out of the AC unit!

Fits loosely in my ceiling vent filter holder, but expected. My holder is made to take a 2" thick filter, but of course will also accommodate a 1" as this one is. To insure the filter edges will seal, I put weather stripping around the edges inside, which also makes it silent. As to falling out when I open the door, it is no problem for me, and prefer that to the paper disposable filters that did not come out easily and sprinkled dirt when taking them out. As to the "permanent" life through washing, the filter appears substantial enough to hold up for many washings and reuses. The plastic frame is actually welcomed after I had a metal framed filter (at my old house) rust and mildew.

While the filter may be 12x24x1 the outside boarder is too small for my vent. My vent is on the ceiling and the filter does not stay in place and is very noisy due to it not fitting correctly. All the throw-away filters I buy at the hardware store fit correctly and stay in place with not play at the perimeter. As expensive as this was for me I am very disappointed.

I did a dumb thing by ordering without measuring. Length I ordered was 24 when I needed 30. Whoops! Item returned at my cost. I didn't bother to order the correct size because the filter is kind of tacky looking. Since It's in a spot that's visible in my house, I didn't like the white/red look. The frame is a bit flimsy. It did have a nice foam-like gasket.
