Carbon Fiber PLA - Impressive filament
First, this is a review of the Hatchbox PLA Carbon Fiber Black filament. The way that amazon concatenates all these different types of filaments as if they differ only in color makes it impossible to differentiate in the reviews, so I am putting that up front and in the subject line.Warning: Carbon Fiber-containing filaments are highly abrasive, and everything I have read says they will destroy a standard Brass nozzle in short order. I don't know if that's after a roll, or 10 rolls, but beware. If you want to use this filament, get a hardened steel nozzle or better. I have a Diamondback, and am very happy not to worry about abrasive filaments.I am relatively new (ca. 8 months) to 3D printing, but I've 50 or so rolls of filament here that I've tried, and I have to say that Hatchbox is the most consistent quality filament, and is a comparative bargain. This filament costs about twice as much as Hatchbox regular PLA, so is it worth it? In my opinion, it definitely is. There are a few reasons for this:1. The prints with this filament are among the smoothest prints of any filament I have used. They are not shiny, and that jet-black matte texture on the print is very appealing. In sum, this will change those shiny plasticky-looking PLA prints to something much more serious and commercially manufactured looking.2. The strength that Carbon Fiber adds to the PLA is considerable, without changing the basic print characteristics. That strength is great for anything that needs to take stress or torsion. If Hatchbox sold a PETG-CF that might top this, but as far as I can tell, they don't.3. If you have dialed in printing with PLA on your printer, you will likely find this doesn't require any change in temperature at the nozzle or on the bed.4. It has very low odor (but my printer is in an enclosure, so that may affect my perception). There are some negatives, to be fair:1. It's expensive. This PLA-Black CF filament is twice the price of regular Hatchbox PLA.2. You may find that other filaments like ABS or Nylon are stronger and more suited for your use, but of course they release significant odor and volatiles. If you don't mind dealing with that, this may not offer a benefit.3. Carbon fiber can be brittle. Depending on the print, and how the layers are laid down, this may be a non-issue or serious. For "thick" models without thin walls and which have a good amount of infill, this may not be an issue.4. It is apparently only available in black (no surprise) and the Matte finish may not be appealing in some use cases.I have enjoyed using this filament, and it may be my new favorite filament type. I hope this review helps you make a decision.3.

This prints really good.. and strong
This prints really good.. and strong. Print settings are more to the petg settings than pla settings. but prints extremely well... If you print with your layer height setting at 0.1mm and 35 mmps speed, "outside wall print speed", the layer lines are gone... I have tried many brands of filaments. And Hatchbox and E-sun are the best... I also run the Robo 3d R1 and the Hatchbox Alpha delta printer.... the Hatchbox Alpha is diffidently better...

Love that matte finish!
This stuff is pretty awesome. Even easier to print than regular PLA because it requires almost no retraction and stringing is non existent. I had to get a stainless steel nozzle as I read it can eat through brass. The finish on the prints look pretty awesome and at 0.2mm layer height, the layer lines are invisible against the texture, the prints look like a solid object. This is my new favorite filament by far

Wow
You can make really really awesome prints with this. It's sort of akin to being able to print with FRP, and the results both look great and are pretty strong. It's like sandpaper to any plastic it's in contact with on the way to the hot end, so expect a bunch of wear, but it's totally worth it.
