Perfect for small tasks
First off I will say the safety gear that comes with this IS NOT SUFFICIENT. Please go buy a fiberglass/fire blanket, welding/leather gloves, and an actual welding helmet. You WILL get arc flash blindness with the cheap visor in this kit and you want to be able to use both hands when you weld. This kit does come with a few sticks of 6013 equivalent welding rods which are good general purpose rods. You can pick up more rods at your hardware store or on Amazon for less than 50 cents a rod, just make sure they are rated for AC arcing not DC arcing. The amp input does not match the amp output, so this will work on a regular house outlet... 20 amps is fine. The amp digital display on the unit is NOT accurate, so you will need to practice to find the right amperage (if it sticks you are probably too low, or your starting technique is wrong). I found the unit to be about 20 amps less than the display. All of that being said this is an AWESOME low amp arc/stick welder. If you are starting out and you have small projects, this is a perfect unit. Please go watch safety videos before you use this. It can kill you if you are careless. I have completed a few projects now and this thing is awesome.

Hard to start ark
This is good but ark is very hard to start even with a 7014 rod which start very easy on my other welders but this would be good for a repair in the Field.

This lil welder will get it done
I must admit upon buying this I was skeptical. After I relieved it I opened the packaging and it looks like a lil kids toy. I was disappointed till I plugged it in and started using it. It will lay a even consistent weld with ease.... I highly trco.end anyone looking into a welder to get one. It made a believer out of me.
